“We put a lot of effort into writing real songs and putting out a real album that hopefully touches a broad fan base. Our goal was to make sure that not only every single song had been thoroughly thought through, but that it was given all the attention and passion that we truly felt they deserved. We honestly feel like metal has lost its way a bit and we were set on writing something original and not following the trends of today such as low tunings, aggressive growling and perfectly lined up music and sound. We focused on the realness of ourselves and wanted to produce something that wasn’t always perfect and was as real and as honest as we could be. We did not need or want to hide behind production. We wanted our raw talent to be caught and portrayed to everyone. Our goal was to produce something from the soul, not from the computer.”
The album is all-killer, no filler! It doesn’t hide behind its production; it compliments it. These are truly songs of power and empowerment, a clarion call for strength in life’s battles…healing through headbanging. Influenced by bands like Alice In Chains, Five Finger Death Punch, Pantera and Godsmack, Vancouver, BC’s CRNKSHFT have carved out a sound in the vein of Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, Alter Bridge plus Black Stone Cherry. Going full throttle, the band released their self-titled EP this past March to follow their 2015 debut ‘Hard Fucking Rock’. The EP was produced by Daren Grahn who has engineered on albums for Metallica, Hedley, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi.
Embarking on their first cross Canada tour this kicking off on September 7th in Kelowna, BC and ending in Montreal, QC on September 23rd (dates listed below), the band has put together a special deluxe edition of their self-titled EP that includes two bonus tracks “Burning Me Alive” and “Darkside”, which the band has unleashed a new music video that can be viewed at the following link:

Preparing for their milestone of a decade of metal in Canada’s Okanagan Valley, ARMSTRONG METALFEST is gearing up for their biggest event to date. Over the last nine years the festival has hosted a long list of bands such as Revocation, Cattle Decapitation, Suffocation, Beyond Creation, Rivers of Nihil, The Zenith Passage, Anciients, Bison, Striker, Archspire, Cryptopsy, Unleash The Archers, Ninjaspy, Vesperia, Aggression among many others for British Columbia’s largest gathering of metalheads from across Western Canada and beyond.
Planning their 2018 edition, ARMSTRONG METALFEST is now taking band submissions for the biggest mountain moshpit to ever rumble the BC Rockies.
Festival co-organizer Jesse Valstar comments:
“We are very excited to start the band submission process this year! Every year during the band submission phase for Armstrong Metal Fest we get to discover new bands that have formed and new releases from bands we have not been able to keep up with! Taking influence from Europe’s music festival circuit, Armstrong Metal Fest is a heavy metal celebration that encourages metal heads from across Canada and the globe to mosh and camp with the backdrop of great outdoors of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley.
