Inspired by Death, Edge of Sanity, Old Man’s Child, Cannibal Corpse and the mighty Voivod, Denver, CO progressive death metal trio PILE OF PRIESTS aim to produce a sound inspired by 90s death and thrash metal bands. Unleashing their new EP entitled “Tenebrous Labyrinth” on November 24th to follow their 2015 debut album “Void To Enlightenment” and stand-alone single entitled “Redemptionem Per Cruciatu” released earlier this year. The new EP will feature three originals and three cover tracks, Coroner, Sadus and Kreator along with lyrics that offer a firestorm of fury against the injustices of the world, the fallacies of religion plus the human struggles and current events in today’s world.
Evan Salvador (Guitar and Vocals) comments:
“We are very proud of our upcoming EP ‘Tenebrous Labyrinth’. Our sound has evolved on every release and we have agreed that this EP to come is the pinnacle of our sound thus far. It’s fast, evil, melodic and incorporates other styles of metal besides death metal.”
Teaming up with ToiletOvHell.com, the trio are premiering the EP’s title track, which can be heard at the following link: http://www.toiletovhell.com/premiere-pile-of-priests-tenebrous-labyrinth/
Salvador adds.
“Tenebrous Labyrinth is the title track off our upcoming EP; it’s about the dark places of the mind that depression and paranoia can induce, a “labyrinth” of thoughts if you will.”

“It is full to the brim of very complex rhythms, great jams…the musicianship on Void of Enlightenment is top quality stuff. The band’s drummer pulls off some excellent grooves as the two guitar players jam over the top. It is a pleasant change for the genre and it gives the band a lot of personality.” – Demons Zone (Void To Enlightenment Review)
“a swirling vortex of terror, brutality and vintage 90s progressive moments. Be afraid, and make your body ready, for this is a wild ride.” The Killchain Blog (Void To Enlightenment Review)
“well played, tight, interesting and well written brutal songs” – Merchants of Air (Void To Enlightenment Review)

0 NEWS: Colorado Black Metal SAR ISATUM Premiere New Track “Black Gate” via IndyMetalVault; Debut Album “Shurpu” Digital Release Nov 17th, CD Release Dec 22nd

NEWS RELEASE
Montreal, QC – November 10, 2017
For fans of Emperor, Gorgoroth, Marduk
Colorado Black Metal SAR ISATUM Premiere New Track “Black Gate” via IndyMetalVault
Debut Album “Shurpu” Digital Release Nov 17th, CD Release Dec 22nd

L-R – CC – Bass, JP Dalkhu – Drums, Demothi – Vocals (Photo Credit: Matthew Zinke)
Two things always contribute to creating epic original black metal. One is location, and by being based in Colorado, the Rocky Mountains provide the ideal canvas for technical symphonic black metal band SAR ISATUM to sweep broad musical brush strokes across a vast vista, musically, mentally, and physically.
The second is lyrical inspiration. SAR ISATUM eschews all the usual flogged-to-death lyrical clichés of black metal to take inspiration from a variety of sources. The very name SAR ISATUM comes from the Sumerian dialect. It means ‘King of Fire.’ Indeed, both the Sumerian and Annunaki empires provide strong lyrical inspiration.
Inspired by Emperor, Dark Funeral, Gorgoroth, Sothis and Craft, band member J.P Dalkhu describes SAR ISATUM’s music as “ethereal, nefarious, repugnant, abhorrent, cryptic.”
SAR ISATUM have high expectations of their upcoming debut album “Shurpu”, but at the same time, SAR ISATUM create music for themselves, not copying what has come before, but fans of various styles of black metal will find much to appreciate here. As Dalkhu so lyrically says SAR ISATUM create “a variation of extreme and atmospheric black metal as if one went through a burning battlefield and witnessed horrid devastation.” Dalkhu feels that this is the best band its members have ever been a part of and are constantly evolving as musicians.
Teaming up with IndyMetalVault, SAR ISATUM are sharing with fans their third single “Black Gate”.
The band comments:
“‘Black Gate’ is one of our simplest songs with a more traditional black metal influence, and different from the other songs on the album. Lyrically ‘Black Gate’ is about a family who is ostracized from their village and then chooses to set up a new home on the edge of forest ruled over by a powerful witch. After kidnapping the family’s baby and using its remains in a ritual to enact flight upon a broom into the full moon, the witch decides to possess the younger children and then the oldest daughter who she aids in the killing of her parents. The oldest daughter then chooses to sign a pact with the Devil joining his coven of witches in the forest. ‘Black Gate’ represents the barrier between the woods and the area outside, and only by joining the Devil’s coven are you allowed to enter freely.”

“Shurpu” will be released digitally on November 17th and on CD December 22nd. Pre-order available on Bandcamp here.
For those in the Denver, CO area, SAR ISATUM will be performing with Belphegor, Cryptopsy, Panzerfaust, and Mount Cairn on November 19th at the Roxy Theatre. Full details can be found here.
“We are gonna get on stage and take it on like a battle in a war. Expect an intense live show from us, like a fire destroying everything in its path.” says Dalkhu.

“As the evolution of Ominous Eclipse has progressed, the band have hybridized a seething core of death metal sound with elements of thrash, black metal, and melodic death metal. But if “The Horde” is a sign of what’s to come next, they’re reaching for new levels of monstrous and electrifying destructiveness.” – No Clean Singing
“The crowd was stellar at Mavericks, where each of the four bands were well represented by their fan bases. Opening on the night were Ominous Eclipse, whose chunky, frantic thrash metal din was led by their howling frontman. Largely drawing from their 2015 album End of Days, the four-piece pounded through six songs, tackling tracks like “Pestilence,” Abandoned” and the album’s particularly solid title track. Helping to limber the crowd for the chaos to come, they called for a “wall of death” in the confines of the club and the fans delivered, clearing the centre of the floor before the opposing sides barrelled into one another, bodies flying everywhere.” – Exclaim! (Live Review opening for Kalmah April 2016)
