The band recently released their FACTOR-funded single / music video, “The Pilot” off their upcoming fourth album “Rock (Geology)” to follow 2016’s break out, “Unsaved Progress”, an album that included their much loved single “The Glimmer Shot”; a Destiny-themed rock anthem, which earned them accolades from the creators of the video game itself plus their cover of Blue Oyster Cult’s “Godzilla”.

Guitarist Brock Tinsley comments:

“We’re proud to return to Europe for the first time since 2015 with these hard-hitting bands, so we’re prepared our most energetic show to date. If anyone thinks these Canadian geeks can’t bring the muscle, they’ll be in for a big surprise.”

About:What does a DIY Canadian rock duo do after charting on the National Loud Chart, releasing a viral video-game anthem and touring the globe in the wake of critical reviews and mainstream press?

Whatever they want.

The newest newest offering of hard-rock mad-science from Double Experience is “Rock (Geology)”; a continuation of the band’s 5 year series of music released on collectible trading cards. The first, FACTOR-funded single, “The Pilot” was released on November 16, 2017.

In fact, the only thing ‘conventional’ about Double Experience is their undying affinity for comic convention culture. The band have performed for audiences at Ottawa and Montreal ComicCon as well as many other gatherings such as MAGFest and GuardianCon. Their Destiny-inspired single “The Glimmer Shot” even earned in-game accolades from Bungie, the developer of the multi-million user franchise. Double Experience’s quirky lyrical content has connected with hundreds of thousands of Spotify listeners and their undeniable live show has been perfected over hundreds of performances at clubs and festivals across 16 countries.

Double Experience’s DIY-story and business acumen has been shared at music industry conventions (IndieWeek) and hundreds of high schools and colleges across the world. Since the band’s inception in 2014, Band members Ian Nichols (vocals, bass) and Brock Tinsley (guitar) have established themselves as the nucleus of a dynamic alchemy of players, collaborating with musicians such as Fred Mascherino (Taking Back Sunday, Terrible Things) and Steve Bache (He is Legend) in studio and onstage.

You have been slain by the band biography… Continue?

“Their new album is upbeat and full of awesome tracks, leading straight into the first song, ‘So fine‘, which instantly gets you into the mood of this album.” – Ram Zine (UK)

“Verifying my “nerd” suspicions, they began and closed an original song with Darth Vader’s theme, the Imperial March, and I couldn’t have been happier about it. In addition to their set of mainly original music, they also included a cover of Blue Oyster Cult’s Godzilla, which was fitting with their stoner vibe, especially considering there is also a Fu Manchu version.” – Spotlight Ottawa

“this band is passionate about video games which is reflected in the underlying themes of their music. More apparent to non-video game savvy listeners is that Double Experience are a solid rock band with well crafted and catchy tunes that have crossover appeal to fans of different music genres.” – Forget The Box

“The songs on this, 9 track, album are narrative driven and mammoth in proportion. Songs like ‘AAA‘ and ‘Godzilla‘ are glorious sagas of esoteric depth. There is a power on this album that is both new and old.” – 925 Rebellion

Instrumental Prog Metal THE DEAD CENTURIES Premiere “Overdrive” ft. James Krul (Mandroid Echostar) via The Prog Report

Debut Album “Race Against Time” Out Jan 26th, 2018

L-R – Bryant McNamara – Drums, Adam Tremblett – Guitar, Jacob McSheffrey – Guitar (Photo Credit: Adrienne Row-Smith)

Visionary and highly influential writer Michael Moorcock, who worked with the bands Hawkwind and Blue Oyster Cult, memorably stated that ‘it is the business of the future to be dangerous’.

Ottawa three-piece THE DEAD CENTURIES are both futuristic and dangerous…which is as it should be. Influenced by Protest The Hero, Periphery, Paul Gilbert, Sithu Aye and Intervals, THE DEAD CENTURIES can easily hold their heads up in such exalted company.

Composing and performing technically precise instrumental progressive metal, THE DEAD CENTURIES are rich in virtuosity, melody, compositional skills, and most importantly…they create superb music to listen to. This isn’t the sound of three musicians showing off their undoubted skills, rather they are serving their songs above all else, with every fibre of their beings, every neuron firing in their minds, every tendon in their bodies. In a sense it is as if the three musicians that make up THE DEAD CENTURIES have become one mind in their own music.

Set to unleash their debut album “Race Against Time” on January 26th, 2018, the full length features ten tracks of melodic, high energy and refreshing material. Full of hook and sinker tracks, shining guitar riffs and overall escapades through their instrumental progressive metal has to offer.

Guitarist Adam Tremblett comments:

“The album title “Race Against Time” is loosely representative of the experience writing, recording, and preparing the collection of songs. Throughout the process there have been band member changes, last minute rewrites, and several other testing circumstances. These have only served to further determine The Dead Centuries to release a high quality release that truly represents the band as a whole.”

Teaming up with The Prog Report, the trio premiere their first single “Overdrive” that features a guest guitar solo from Mandroid Echostar’s James Krul.

Tremblett adds:

“Overdrive is a very melodic, upbeat song, with the focus being on fun singable melodies. Starting with a half tempo clean theme, the song then picks up, keeping the melody, but adding heavier rhythm and more energy. There are several guitar harmonies throughout, a staple of the album. The song also features the album’s second guest, James Krul (Mandroid Echostar), again by way of a guitar solo trade off.”

0 Noizze UK – Sar Isatum – Shurpu “Shurpu is a effortlessly proud album ready to stand its own amongst the rest of the horned dragons of Black Metal. “

  • December 6, 2017

  • · Sar Isatum

Sar Isatum’s debut album marks a very mature and well defined sound for the band. It really shouldn’t be a first album, and therefore shows too much promise. Songs may cross over each other but they tread on themselves in a fast horde of fiercely proud evil. Shurpu is a effortlessly proud album ready to stand its own amongst the rest of the horned dragons of Black Metal. There will be a lot more from Sar Isatum.

“The rampant brutality riddling this thing with shear, unbridled aggression and wretched heaviness is a thing most enjoyable indeed. Consisting of six songs altogether, three originals and three reinterpretations of old school classics, the content makes for a profound experience of death metal present and past. The originals, title track “Tenebrous Labyrinth”, “Kafir”, and “Interglacial Departure”, are plenty abrasive, but also contain an abundant amountpf progressive elements.” – Rifff Relevant

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 6, 2017

For fans of Moonsorrow, Finntroll, Windir, Equilibrium, Ensiferum, Kalmah, Wintersun

Quebec City Folk Metal NORDHEIM Announce New Year’s Day Concert

Out Now! “RapThor” An Album About Bacon And Dinosaurs

L-R – Warraxe (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Lucas (Drums), Fred (Lead Guitar), Benfok (Bass, Back Vocals)

As 2017 comes to an end and 2018 just around the corner, dungeon and dragons enthusiasts NORDHEIM announce “The New Year of Warriors” New Year’s Day show with Trollwar in Quebec City at L’Anti Bar. The January 1st concert will see the band perform their new album “RapThor” live for the first time. With a simple philosophy of making fun folk metal and good times, the band comments on the upcoming event.

“When we play live it’s a frickin’ party! We move a lot, scream, hump the air, we drink from the fans’ beer bottles and in turn, we feed them beer, with the help of our friends and roadies coming up on stage and pouring beer in their faces. Usually between songs we’ll be making jokes about anything we can think of, as long as it’s dumb and incoherent! We have a strong sense of ‘bro-ness’ with our fans!”

Full details for the event can be found here.

Influenced by bands such as Finntroll, Ensiferum, Kalmah and Wintersun, NORDHEIM‘s latest offering and third studio album “RapThor” was unleashed on November 24th. The album features songs dedicated to the epic flavour of bacon, the colossus power of dinosaurs and more with such titles as “Troll Riding A Raptor”, “Boobs And Bacon” and “Dragonthorn”.

Vocalist / guitarist Warraxe adds about the release:

“Cutting back on the European folklore influences on this one, RapThor is the heaviest and nastiest folk metal albums we have given the fans to date. People who have heard our first two albums will hear the difference. It is super-heavy party music that’s a result of our hard work over the last few years.”

NORDHEIM‘s single “I Wish You Were Beer” can be found streaming at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_deM6zrz6Ak

“RapThor” is now available in digital on iTunes, and on CD at Big Cartel, CD Baby.

Track Listing:
1. Troll Riding A Raptor (4:32)
2. Boobs And Bacon (3:30)
3. Scroll Of Lightning Bolt (4:55)
4. Black Witch Rises (5:27)
5. I Wish You Were Beer (2:05)
6. Strength Became The Storm (5:24)
7. Blood’s Shade (5:22)
8. Dragonthorn (9:34)
Album Length: 40:47

NORDHEIM is:
Warraxe – Guitars, Vocals
Benfok – Bass, Vocals
Fred – Lead Guitars
Luke – Drums

“With an album entitled RapThor, these Canadians certainly had my attention. The record turned out to be a hell of a ride through a mystical folk metal world complete with a “Troll Riding a Raptor,” “Boobs and Bacon,” and a track called “I Wish You Were Beer.” There’s a chance these guys are a tad tongue in cheek. Fun record.” – Metal Injection

“purveyors of fine folk metal” – PureGrainAudio

“The band puts it straight: the more beer, the better. Songs like ‘I Wish You Were Beer’ and ‘Boobs And Bacon’ are danceable drinking songs in the vein of Alestorm and Korpiklaani.” – Lords of Metal

” The album, which they released independently, starts with Troll Riding a Raptor a fast and heavy song that really is a kick to the head. The song is a great opener for the album.” Grimm Gent

“I certainly recommend sitting down with a good beverage of your choice and enjoy the boozy, epic, sometimes goofy, but ultimately FUN romp that is Rapthor…will leave you more than satisfied with a great big smile on your face.” – Overdrive Mag

“I might just be crowning the king of the bogs this year with the latest from Canada’s Nordheim…“RapThor” has 8 face smashing tracks in its 40 minutes of playing time. Let your melo-death juices flow as you get pulverized by track after relentless track, fueled by booze and chicks…A triumphant return for Nordheim and an end of the year stocking stuffer for album of the year candidate if I ever saw one… season’s greetings.” – Folk-Metal.nl

“From the very get go, the album packs that punch and releases an infinite energy that vaguely recalls the fastest of Black Metal bands. All the while there’s a subtle folk symph to their battle cries. RapThor feels excited to be here. The clean vocal chants of ‘Troll Riding a Raptor’ have easy hooks and feel fitting amongst the rest of the battling music. The shocking speed of each song dangerously thrusts you from song to song, a great example being ‘Scroll of a Lightning Bolt’ which deliciously speeds through its riffs.” – Noizze UK

“Although this album has stepped up and introduced a heavier side, it’s still fast, and catchy. Guaranteed you’ll be partying by the end of it… and whats more of a party then dinosaurs and beer?” – Canadian Beats

“Finally, the four years of waiting have been worth it. The album in its entirety contains no flaws, eight songs of quality and strongly built. ” – Quebec Metal
