Performing on Western Canada’s decibel breaking heavy metal festival LOUD AS HELL this coming August, Vancouver’s WEST OF HELL are premiering their new music video “Hammer And Hand” via the festival’s website at https://www.loudashell.com/single-post/2018/07/18/West-of-Hells-Hammer-and-Hand-Video-Exclusive-Video-Release-LAH7.

“We’re excited to share with fans our new video “Hammer and Hand” presented by Loud As Hell. The band has a long standing relationship with this premier festival. We have performed several times at the festival and garnered a reputation as local heroes! It’s only fitting that we partner up with them for the world to see. “Hammer and Hand” will also be released via Imperative Management Agency in South America and Europe on a video compilation DVD. This DVD also features videos from the likes of Cradle of Filth and Hammerfall. West of Hell plans to share more new music and videos as we build up to the release of our sophomore full length album later this year. Don’t miss us live on Saturday August 4th at Loud as Hell!”
About:
West of Hell is a heavy metal band that was formed in 2002 in West Auckland, New Zealand by Ivan Vrdoljak and Andrew Hulme. Sean Parkinson (ex-Sinate) and Jordan Kemp joined shortly there after. As an instrumental band West of Hell was quickly outgrowing New Zealand, all they needed was a frontman.
In 2009 the four members uprooted their lives and moved to the other side of the world to Vancouver, Canada. The band played a series of shows as a four-piece instrumental drawing critical acclaim and attracting the attention of the local metal community. The exposure led them to Zimmers Hole frontman Chris “The Heathen” Valagao. They hired producer and Juno Award winning engineer Rob Shallcross (Strapping Young Lad, GWAR, Zimmers Hole, Gene Hoglan, Fear Factory) with whom Valagao had worked with on previous projects. In late 2010 they began work on Spiral Empire at The Factory Studios in Vancouver. Spiral Empire was released in 2012 on Reversed Records, followed by a tour in New Zealand and extensive touring in Canada. Ivan Vrdoljak was forced to return to New Zealand in 2010 shortly after recording. Many guitar players tried to fill Vrdoljak’s shoes until Kris Shultz joined the band in late 2014.
Chris Valagao being a cinematographer and SPFX artist produced and directed the bands first two videos for “Faceless the Droids” and “Water of Sorcery” .
In 2015 West Of Hell’s entered the studio to track a new album which was recorded at Armoury Studios in Vancouver B.C. (INXS, KISS, YES, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Stone Sour, Strapping Young Lad) with Ash Pearson on drums (Revocation, Three inches Of Blood) and Infinity Studios in Victoria B.C. Produced again by Rob (Chicken) Shallcross and Mastered by Greg Reely (Fear Factory, Strapping Young Lad, Paradise Lost, Devil Driver, Darkest Hour, Bleeding Through, Overkill and Three inches Of Blood). The new album is definitely an evolution of the form. The debut release was a very power/classic metal offering, while the new album, set for a 2018 release, seamlessly incorporates elements of thrash, death, tech and classic metal. Valagao has produced and directed three more videos for the bands upcoming new release.
Many more Videos and behind the scenes shorts are in the works. 2018 holds several festival dates and a tour in Mexico in the fall.

The 2018 edition of LOUD AS HELL will be celebrating its seventh consecutive year presented by Semchuk Productions, Jurassic Ink Custom Tattoo, Prairie Fire Events, and Asher Media Relations. LAH always work their hardest to deliver the best lineup in the West ready to melt your face off. Featuring over 40 bands from across Western Canada and beyond, this year’s line up includes headliners New Jersey’s deathcore titans FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, Vancouver tech death giants ARCHSPIRE, Regina’s progressive melo-death masters INTO ETERNITY plus many more that will rage across the Dinosaur Downs Stampede Grounds in Drumheller, AB from August 3rd to 5th.
Also announced are second stage acoustic performers Kris Schulz, Kyle Pullan, Jesse Valstar Project along with a burlesque show from Hazzardous Material plus clinics presented by Into Eternity guitarist Tim Roth and Ninjaspy bassist Tim Parent. All will be showcased as entertainment during main stage change overs.
