“The band relies on an icy death-doom that subtly adds touches of sludge.” – Metal Injection

“Whether you like your doom depressing, relaxing, or both, Weepers of the Land is ready to serve.” – The Metal Crypt

“Hardcore doom fans may like Norilsk’s latest because it is molded with an eye to old-school doom records; seldom does the album go past a glacial pace, with even the stylistic flourishes never distracting the duo’s strong suit.” – The Sludgelord

“This is music for the haunted place, the celebration of nature, in all its contemporary insecurity and all its past destructive beauty.” – Echoes and Dust

“Yes, the glaciers are melting, and the temperatures are soaring, but deep in the landlocked barren lands Norilsk have managed to carve out a sonic beauty that reveals its subtle nuances when the listeners are drawn in.” – ItDjents

“Remember when I mentioned how Canadian winters never seem to end? That’s what this sounds like. You’ve just realized you’re socked into another deep freeze… You look up at the blotted sky and waver at the tremendous wintry grip displayed before you. Winter is harsh, unforgiving and indifferent to anything you might know, want or care about yet also displays a raw beauty for those willing to venture it. Norilsk understands and Norilsk delivers.” – Doom-Metal.com

“Le passage des glaciers is a well-crafted and thoughtfully composed doom and death metal record. The band have further refined their sound in a way that feels effortless and honest, all while hinting at future possibilities.” – Exclaim! (Review 2017 Le passage des glaciers)

“Canadian duo Norilsk are one of plenty healthy and upcoming formations out of Quebec, creating sordid musical landscapes that manifest towering grooves, epic melodies and desolate, sludgy passages in the space between.” – Extreme Metal Voyager

“Norilsk’s debut has exactly what it takes to land this band a spot in any doom metal fan’s list of bands to look out for.” – Heavy Blog is Heavy (Review 2015 – The Idea of North)

“It’s one thing to write good music; it’s a whole other thing to invent a new language, a new aesthetic, where song writing, atmosphere and individuality coalesce and give birth to this strange new kid on the block.” – Chronicles of Chaos

1. No Sacred Ground (7:51)

Named after Siberia’s northernmost city, home of a famous heavy metal smelting complex, Norilsk is a doom-death band from Gatineau/Ottawa, Canada. Characterized by slow and crushing riffs, death growls, icy melodies and atmospheric arrangements, its music draws inspiration from the 1990’s doom-death scene, while incorporating a heavy dose of eclectic and contemporary influences.

Norilsk consists of two core band members, Nic Miquelon and Nick Richer, along with live collaborators Tom Hansen and Matt MacIvor. Since its beginnings, it shared the stage with a number of bands, including Yob, High on Fire, Monolord, Weedeater, Tombs, Uada, Grim Reaper, Algoma, Altars of Grief, Nachtterror, Longhouse, Tunguska Mammoth, and much more.

After self-releasing an introductory EP, Japetus, in 2014, the band released their first full length album The Idea of North in 2015 on Hypnotic Dirge Records (CD) and Dwyer Records (cassette). The album received a lot of attention from around the world, especially from the sludge and doom-death community, leading Norilsk to release it on vinyl the following year on War on Music Records and Sunmask Records. In the Fall of 2016, the band toured over 8,000 km across Canada in support of The Idea of North, and played festivals such as Black Mourning Light Festival (Edmonton) and Earslaughter Festival (Montréal). In this period, it also took part in several compilations and recorded an exclusive song for a metal tribute album to Mylène Farmer, on GS Productions (Russia).

In 2017, Norilsk presented a new full length album, Le passage des glaciers, again via Hypnotic Dirge Records. Consistently turned towards the horizon, this opus expanded considerably the Norilsk sound and themes, carrying the party a few miles further into the distance.

One year later, on October 12, 2018, the band released a brand new offering; an omen that autumn will be tuned down to doom and the bitter cold. Weepers of the Land is the follow up mini-album to last year’s full length Le passage des glaciers, presenting a more abrasive and visceral Norilsk weaving stories of heritage, loss, and displacement through dynamic and atmospheric blackened death-doom metal. Weepers of the Land will be Norilsk’s third installment on Hypnotic Dirge Records.

Vocalist/bassist Nic M. comments:

“When we entered Wolf Lake Studio in 2017, we had enough new material to record nearly two albums. We chose to record it all, working with producer Mike Bond once again to explore the spectrum of possibilities and see what this beast would look like before deciding on how we would separate and release the material. On last year’s Le passage des glaciers, the songs represented a cold and solitary travel inward, and we kept the more exploratory and collaborative songs for this year’s follow up. Weepers of the Land could therefore be seen as the second half of this recording session, one where Norilsk has been cycling inward and outward.”

Four years on from their psyche ravaging third album, Dog Years, Canadian noise sludgers The Great Sabatini return with another maelstrom of noise bred dissonance which, to continue a trend set from their first releases, is their most irresistible trespass to date. Goodbye Audio is around thirty five minutes of sonic abrasion as unpredictable creatively it is expectantly striking; an invasion of raw and toxic noise intent on caustic seduction.

OLKOTH Ft. Members From (Nile, Rapheumets Well, Xael) Unleash Debut Single ‘Imperfect Reanimation’

Self-Titled Debut Album Coming 2019

A fresh and haunting approach to death metal comes in the form of  OLKOTH, a new project founded in South Carolina by guitarist Zach Jeter, bassist Brad Parris (Nile), drummer Joshua Ward (Rapheumets Well, Xael) and guitarist Hunter Ross (Rapheumets Well).

They are set to release their debut, self titled album early in 2019 and to entice the masses they offer their first single and video ‘Imperfect Reanimation’.

Coined as dynamic, cold and haunting, inspiration for the band grew from elements of the occult, history of war and corruption, and Lovecraftian fiction. The single is a ferocious exhibition of the power, speed and unbridled aggression that OLKOTH will quickly be reputed for.

Listen to the debut of ‘Imperfect Reanimation’ via Decibel Magazine at the following link: https://www.decibelmagazine.com/2018/12/07/track-premiere-olkoth-imperfect-reanimation/

Jeter tells listeners what they can expect from the upcoming album:

“Our unique blend of styles and approach to writing we believe will be well received. Our goal is to bring a newness and originality that will be a breath of fresh air in the death metal community.” He continues to explain their new single and future plans: “we will give the fans a taste of the sheer brutality we incorporate as well as the dynamic changes and atmosphere within our music. With further releases we will expand on that style and show our unique mix of violent riffs and diverse emotional themes.”

The single was produced and mixed by Joshua Ward and Zach Jeter at Elder Verse Studio.

For fans of Vader, Morbid Angel, Emperor, Dark Funeral and Belphegor.

Coming out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, All Else Fails (AEF) is making a mark around the world for their aggressively dark brand of modern metal that is breaking the traditional ideals of their genre. Drawing comparisons to bands like Killswitch Engage, In Flames, and Of Mice and Men, the band infuses their metalcore sound with a variety of elements including experimental riffs, classical melodies, sporadic synth lines, and spoken word sampling to accent a unique vocal blend ranging from heavy gutturals to spine tingling cleans.

Since first getting together in 2006 they have focused on producing a high energy live show that not only sets them apart from their peers, but has garnered them appearances on numerous festivals over the years, including the Unmaad and Alcheringa Fests In India, Vans Warped Tour, Boonstock along with opening spots for artists like Protest the Hero, Cancer Bats, Dayglo Abortions, 3 Inches of Blood, Fear Factory, Threat Signal, Decapitated, Suffocation, Trivium and Arise & Ruin.

“All Else Fails have crafted one of the most diverse sounding albums I’ve heard in awhile. The Oracle, What Was Is and Could Have Been refuses to be pigeonholed into a genre, and that’s why it’s great. Rather than sick to a straight formula, All Else Fails branch out into several genres and bring their sound into the fold to produce some incredibly creative songs.” – The Age Of Metal

Over their highly acclaimed career they have released 3 EPs; Self-Titled (2006), ‘The Oracle: What Was, Is, and Could Have Been’ (2010), and ‘Fucktropolis’ (2013); 3 full lengths: ‘Against the Darkening Sky’ (2008), ‘The Oracle: What Was, Is, and Could Have Been Special Edition Re – Release’ (2011), ‘The Forever Lie’ (2017) and a live DVD ‘Of Ashes and Accusations’ (2007).

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 7, 2018

For fans of Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Megadeth, Kreator

Italy’s Evil Thrashers MALAMORTE Resurrect The “Antichrist” With New Lyric Video

New Album Out “Hell For All” In 2019, Jan 25 (EU), Feb 8 (NA) via Rockshots Records

Malamorte; the side project of Alex Nunziati (Lord Vampyr, Cain, Nailed God, Shadowsreign, Sepolcrum, ex VII Arcano, ex Theatres des Vampires) is a ferocious evil metal band hailing from Italy. Telling tales of the occult, mysticism and more with a back drop of power, thrash and black metal, the band will be offering their third full length “Hell For All” via Rockshots Records on January 25, 2019 (Europe) and February 8, 2019 (North America). Ready to resurrect the “Antichrist”, the band is sacrificing their first lyric video in support of the album at the following link:

“Hell For All” was written as a cohesive album, with each song being composed in a complementary fashion to the rest of the tracks. Compared to their 2016 album “Devilish Illusions”, this new record brings more thrash and power elements as the band deviates from their black metal origins.

Keeping the listener in mind, Malamorte desires to formulate a trip, one that “alternates hard times to more reflective or lighter moments” and can be played on repeat with each new listen creating a new perspective. Quality and energy are the primary focuses for these Italians, who allow their fans to escape into an alternate reality and cite influences from a broad range of musical greats including Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Iron Maiden and Slayer.

“Hell For All” is available for pre-order here.

Into Eternity really stretched out their compositions on The Sirens, which worked in their favor given every single song has multiple earworm melodies. Vocalist Amanda Kiernan proves to be more than suitable for the band on her debut record, leaving fans already itching for a follow-up.
