About:
For 10 years running, West Metal Entertainment and Armstrong Metalfest has not only fostered the talent of hundreds of local bands but brought in well-known, international acts to the sleepy, little Canadian town of Armstrong, British Columbia.
Each year up to 700 metalheads from Canada and USA descend into the picturesque Okanagan Valley and under the blistering sun they spend 3 days camping, taking in over 30 bands, participating in wrestling events and scavenger hunts and catching up with their metal family.
The festival has seen such renowned headliners as Kataklysm, Cattle Decapitation, Archspire, and Beyond Creation as well as emerging artists from across North America. At the end of the revelry, the festival disappears without a trace, leaving the landscape as pristine as it has always been.
West Metal Entertainment is a non-profit society that not only puts on Armstrong Metal Festival every year in Armstrong, B.C., but gives bands opportunities to play different venues throughout the region including all ages shows, to encourage musical passion in kids as well as adults.

Debut Album “Conspiracy Theorist” Out Feb 15, 2019

From the darkness of Northern Quebec, Canada, Rouyn-Noranda’s assaulting BACKSTABBER will be unleashing their debut album “Conspiracy Theorist” on February 15, 2019. The 10 track album is a fierce full-length that encompasses themes about scandals, critiques of mainstream media and conspiracies such as hollow Earth. Remaining old school, there are no clean vocals or breakdowns here, just a solid and mature death/thrash metal album, with good flow and clear thought in the tracks and compositions.
“‘Conspiracy Theorist’ is an album that’s meant to open your mind about the way the world revolves around us as it offers a new perspective on many issues that we see in our lives.” says vocalist/guitarist Christian M. Thériault
Leading up to its release, the band has teamed up with NoCleanSinging.com for the premiere of their new lyric video “Geo Engineering”, a track based on Paul Brennan’s speech at the Council on Foreign Relations in 2016. Brennan, then head of the CIA, explained that with a program called Stratospheric Aerosol Injection, we could lower the global temperature by 2 degrees Celsius, estimated at around 10 billion dollars per year.

BIO:
Hailing from Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, Canada, Backstabber is a formidable death/thrash metal trio inspired by conspiracies, new technologies, philosophy, and history. Covering a vast number of themes throughout their music, Backstabber can be likened to a ‘loose cannon’ with no foreshadowing of what direction they will take next, musically.
Starting with themes and gradually adding riffs, drums, bass and finally vocals, they pride themselves on complimenting their compositions with energetic and interactive live shows, the entire reason for them writing their music.
Eager to bring raw and fierce metal to the ears of listeners, Backstabber has recorded their first full-length “Conspiracy Theorist” set to be released February 15, 2019.
Backstabber has shared the stage with Cattle Decapitation, Depths of Hatred, First Fragment, Ending Tyranny, Insurrection, Blinded by Faith, Aepoch and more.

Montreal, QC – January 28, 2019
IMONOLITH Announce Debut Canadian Show Dates
Featuring former and current members of
Devin Townsend Project, Threat Signal, Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory, Methods of Mayhem
Debut Single ‘Hollow’ Out Now!

Show Dates:
February 23 – Vancouver, BC @ The Red Room – info
March 1 – Calgary, AB @ Dickens – info
March 2 – Edmonton, AB @ Starlite Room (Temple) – info
IMONOLITH, the new metal powerhouse featuring vocalist Jon Howard (Threat Signal, Arkaea), drummer Ryan ‘RVP’ Van Poederooyen (Devin Townsend Project), guitarist Brian Waddell (Devin Townsend Project), bassist Byron Stroud (Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory), and second guitarist Kai Huppunen (Methods of Mayhem, Noise Therapy) announce they will be performing their three debut shows in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.
“We’re all looking forward to our first 3 live shows ever with, Imonolith. Vancouver on Feb 23rd, Calgary on March 1st and Edmonton on March 2nd. It’s a new chapter for us all. It’s an exciting time, especially when you’re playing music that you love and created with good friends. The show itself is going to be energetic, powerful and something to look forward to, in every city we play. We collectively have so much live experience from touring the world over the years, through the past bands we played in. We plan on using all that experience to put on one hell of a show every night with, Imonolith. We can’t wait for that first date!” says drummer Ryan ‘RVP’ Van Poederooyen.
IMONOLITH recently made an unforgettable entrance with their debut single, “Hollow”, which can be experienced via their brand new music video here: https://youtu.be/57tcysG4QgY
“Hollow” can also be streamed/purchased via https://imonolith.lnk.to/HollowPR.
“Hollow” serves as the perfect introduction to IMONOLITH, a band whose mission is simple: to write the heaviest riffs, the biggest hooks, and most monstrous grooves. Given the impressive pedigree of each player, they do exactly this and more.
Recorded and produced by Brian Howes and Jay Van Poederooyen (Nickelback, Chris Cornell, Airbourne, Hinder, Daughtry) at Van Howes Studios in Los Angeles, California, “Hollow” is immediately setting the bar high and the best is yet to come.
Ryan ‘RVP’ Van Poederooyen comments:
“’Hollow’ is a song about the personal battles we all can face internally. Social pressures and self-expectation can drive you to a point of feeling hollow inside if you don’t meet specific standards in your mind. The song itself actually has a positive message built into it. It’s not about feeling hollow, it’s more about preventing that hollow feeling that any one of us can develop through negative thinking and limited beliefs.”
Fans can expect many surprises as they unveil more music. RVP continues:
“As for ‘Hollow’, musically it represents the catchier side of IMONOLITH’s music. We have varying influences spread throughout the band and we don’t like to play just one style of music. We have a more metal crushing side, a catchier radio side and then music that fits in-between our heavy and catchier vibes. We always aim to make IMONOLITH’s overall sound diverse and interesting. Most of all, we’re always focused on trying to write a great song, no matter if it’s heavy or catchy.”
IMONOLITH was officially formed in February 2018 by drummer Ryan ‘RVP’ Van Poederooyen and guitarist Brian Waddell, although the pair started writing their own brand of heavy music in 2015 whilst playing together in the Devin Townsend Project. RVP and Waddell then went on to recruit vocalist Jon Howard, bassist Byron Stroud, and second guitarist Kai Huppunen, completing a fearsome line-up. The Canadian quintet has since written a mass of highly diverse material, which appeals to everyone from the metalhead to the radio rock fan, and everyone in between.
Since teasing demos and video clips online, IMONOLITH has amassed a dedicated legion of supporters worldwide, and with the release of the new single, their following is set to expand by the thousands. With their first run of shows throughout Canada announced and big international plans in the pipeline, 2019 is set to be a huge year for IMONOLITH.

“Continuing in the same vein of Truckfighters-esque stoner rock heard on January’s Burnouts EP, we are treated to a much fuller sound on this release… It’s meatier, it’s harder, it’s heavier. If that sounds a bit pornographic, you’re not far off, because this is a dirty record — full of fuzz and viscera.” – Vancity Rockers

SHORT BIO
Hey, we’re Getaway Van: Four fellas who are just tryin’ to make you feel like you’re flying down the side of a mountain in a speeding 80s cargo van.
It’s a very teamwork oriented approach and people can expect to not be able to look away from the bouncing and jumping around on stage complete with them occasionally taking their clothes off. Taking the desert rock vibe and making it a little aggressive and little out of control, the audience can definitely expect to have a great time.
In 2018, Getaway Van recorded two EPs, Brokedown and Burnouts and in February 2019 they are geared to released their debut self titled full length featuring the single ‘Lord I’ve Been Running’. It’s foot-to-the-floor rock n’ roll that shakes rooms like a straight piped V8. Bringing roots of stoner rock, blues, punk, and folk, a Getaway Van performance is your very own experience of controlled chaos.
LONG BIO
Hey, we’re Getaway Van: Four fellas who are just tryin’ to make you feel like you’re flying down the side of a mountain in a speeding 80s cargo van.
Based out of Vancouver, BC, Getaway Van was formed when Derek Lionas (guitar/vocals) and Charlie Coles’ (guitar/vocals) previous band fell apart. They found Devon Sutherland (drums); a drummer fresh in Vancouver from Kelowna. He then got his roommate, and childhood friend, Zack Fox (bass/vocals) to pick up a bass and join the boys. Their next logical course of action was making some straight up rock n’ roll, the best ways they knew how.
“With 3 different songwriters, we always have some new vibe or feel to each song, so it’s always changing. Song structures, vocal styles, etc. One thing that has kind of stayed with us is the heavily distorted guitars. We play with a lot of fuzz, always geeking out on pedals and amplifiers.”
It’s a very teamwork oriented approach and people can expect to not be able to look away from the bouncing and jumping around on stage complete with them occasionally taking their clothes off. Taking the desert rock vibe and making it a little aggressive and little out of control, the audience can definitely expect to have a great time.
