BIO:

Hailing from Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, Canada, Backstabber is a formidable death/thrash metal trio inspired by conspiracies, new technologies, philosophy, and history. Covering a vast number of themes throughout their music, Backstabber can be likened to a ‘loose cannon’ with no foreshadowing of what direction they will take next, musically.

Starting with themes and gradually adding riffs, drums, bass and finally vocals, they pride themselves on complimenting their compositions with energetic and interactive live shows, the entire reason for them writing their music.

Eager to bring raw and fierce metal to the ears of listeners, Backstabber has recorded their first full-length “Conspiracy Theorist” set to be released February 15, 2019.

Backstabber has shared the stage with Cattle Decapitation, Depths of Hatred, First Fragment, Ending Tyranny, Insurrection, Blinded by Faith, Aepoch and more.

– 30 –

“Powered by drumwork that resembles a ferocious mix of machine-gun and mortar fire, Backstabber mount the attack with flurries of vicious, seething riffery and nail-gunning jab-fests, with the lyrics voiced in heartless, imperious roars. The devastation is pushed to further heights of frenzy with a shrill, eerily spiraling solo, and concludes with a hint of off-planet mystery.” – No Clean Singing

“Fast, frantic, politically minded and heavy” – Exclaim!

“Backstabber’s death metal is more of the modern variety (in a good way) with a very clean yet brutal sound and speed aplenty. The playing is insanely tight at times and it’s often hard to believe that this is only the first album of a relatively young band, their first demo having been released in 2016. Some passages are a little on the thrash side but for the most part, this is heavy, pounding, fast death metal driven by a drummer who is really asking for a speeding ticket. ” – 4/5 – The Metal Crypt

“The songs are heavy, and the death and thrash influences make for some fairly easy to get into head bobbing as each track progresses… Conspiracy Theorist is a solid beginning for Backstabber… Solid for those that want some new, well-rounded death metal.”  – Dead Rhetoric

“Backstabber’s Conspiracy Theorist is a self-released album that makes one wonder how they haven’t been signed to any label yet… Backstabber have on their hands the first essential death metal release of 2019.” – 4/5 – Heavy Music HQ

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 22, 2019

Out Now via Rockshots Records! MORTANIUS’ Debut Album ‘Till Death Do Us Part’

Philadelphia’s progressive power metal outfit MORTANIUS have released their debut album “Till Death Do Us Part” via Rockshots Records officially out as ofFebruary 22, 2019, to follow EPs ‘A Voice From Beyond’ (2016), ‘Savage Garden’ (2015), and ‘Ethereal Waltz’ (2014).

A progressive power metal band with symphonic and neo-classical elements, MORTANIUS was formed in 2013 by ex-Outlander vocalist Lucas Flocco and drummer Victor Cardone who were joined by guitarist Mike Gissi and bassist Jesse Shaw. From 2014 to 2016, the band recorded 3 EPs, each one steadily increasing the band’s online presence and fan base. In 2016, after the release of their third and most successful EP at the time, “A Voice From Beyond”, drummer Victor Cardone departed from the band.

A year later in 2017, MORTANIUS returned to the studio to create their first full-length album, “Till Death Do Us Part”. Ollie Bernstein (Ousiodes) recorded all lead guitars on the album, while AJ Larsen (of Madison Rising, Vicious) handled rhythm guitar duties. MORTANIUS also reached out to renowned power metal singers, Leo Figaro (Minstrelix, Dragon Guardian) and Jonas Heidgert (Dragonland) to provide guest vocals. “Till Death Do Us Part” featured the longest production cycle out of any of MORTANIUS‘ previous releases, finally wrapping up production a year later, in the fall of 2018. This album features MORTANIUS‘ most fully fleshed out and dynamic compositions, tightest performances, and highest quality production to date.

Vocalist Lucas Flocco comments:

“The album features a mixture of progressive and power metal. The songs all have melodic vocals that sing catchy lines. Choirs and harmonized vocals are featured heavily. Lead guitars shred fast and harmonized beautifully with each other, and the rhythm guitars are tight and intricate. Keyboards play an integral part to the sound of the album, providing atmospheric flavor and sometimes carrying the main melodies.”

“Till Death Do Us Part” is available via Rockshots Records online store here.

“After cooking up a few EP’s in the first five years of their existence, progressive power metallers Mortanius’ first album, Till Death Do Us Part, has come out of the shadows. The American group’s musical objective of creating unique music is definitely achieved, resulting in a sound that is accurately described as the Castlevania soundtrack going prog…Till Death Do Us Part delivers a one-of-a-kind, almost avant-garde experience.” – The Metal Observer
“Mortanius is a solid band with a versatile vocalist and meshes many cool sounds together.  The modern progressive bands tend to be kookier, and also heavier for the most part.  They blend in the classic prog metal sounds that give them that majestic sound they’re achieving with heavily layered synthesizer and keyboard tracks as well.  It’s a phenomenal album, pick it up when it comes out!” – Technical Music Review

“All in all, there is a lot to like about Till Death Do Us Part. The musicians involved are all very talented, the vocals are excellent and quirky enough to stand out, and there are a lot of memorable moments throughout.” – Noizze UK

Vancouver’s GETAWAY VAN Premiere Debut Self-Titled Album Stream via Stoned Meadow of Doom

Self Titled Debut Out Feb 23rd

New to the Vancouver rock scene, GETAWAY VAN has been manoeuvering through venues to bring their slightly out of control punky blues stoner fuzz rock to entertained audiences for the past year. Collectively, the band shares a broad taste in music and using that to their advantage it’s translated into a record full of different styles and influences that they are gearing up to release on February 23, 2019.

But before the album officially runs loose, the band has teamed up with Youtube channel Stoned Meadow of Doom for the premiere of the album’s full stream.

The band adds:

“Welcome to the world of Getaway Van. This is our debut full-length, self-titled album. This is something that we are all really proud of. Something that all four of us have seen coming for the better part of a year and a half. Now that it’s here, we are stoked to share it with everyone. You’ll be able to pick out basically every sub-genre that’s been derived from rock in this album, with lyrical content that spans from self-loathing and depression, to love, to serial killers, to cars. We really hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it! (And as much as we REALLY enjoy playing it). Thanks for listening.”

“Continuing in the same vein of Truckfighters-esque stoner rock heard on January’s Burnouts EP, we are treated to a much fuller sound on this release… It’s meatier, it’s harder, it’s heavier. If that sounds a bit pornographic, you’re not far off, because this is a dirty record — full of fuzz and viscera.” – Vancity Rockers
