Scythia – …Of War (Self Released)
Folk metal from Canada. Don’t laugh though this is an incredibly catchy piece of art. Dave Kahn knows how to tell a story and he’ll make you sing and dance along while he does it. Gorgeous and powerful.

Scythia are one of the few folk metal bands whose music can’t be pictured being performed by anyone other than Nordic warriors. It’s not just that the lyrics that have epic fantasy themes about traveling through dangerous valleys and getting into sword fights, but the music itself. Violins and flutes set the scene for ancient villages with blacksmiths and horse-drawn carts full of hay. Heavy guitar riffs and galloping drums prepare you for an epic battle in a blood-soaked field of the dead. The singing is beautiful, and at times a triumphant bellow of victory. Such a lovely blend of heavy and melodic should draw fans of both metal and folk music. (Independent, www.myspace.com/ScythiaFolkMetal) Paul Nordin

Titans Eve Set Release Date For Debut “The Divine Equal” Feb 1st, 2011 + Free Download

Vancouver thrash metallers Titans Eve announce they are officially releasing their debut album  “The Divine Equal” on February 1st, 2011. The album features 11 epic metal tunes influenced by themes from the famous 17th century poem “Paradise Lost” by poet John Milton and The Book of Genesis (the first book of the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Old Testament).

“We wanted to emphasize on these themes and relate them to life’s everyday struggles, all while staying true to our personal interpretations of metal. We feel by combining these elements, we have created an interesting concept album for our fellow metal heads to discover.” comments vocalist / guitarist Brian Gamblin.

The Divine Equal can be pre-ordered on Titans Eve bandcamp link here, in addition to a free download of their track “Becoming The Demon” at the following link here on PureGrainAudio.com.

Titans Eve came together when brothers Brian (guitar/vocals) and Kyle Gamblin (guitar/backup vocals) decided to start their own musical project in 2008 after the departure of previous projects. The line up of Titans Eve was completed with the recruitment of Jesse Hord (bass) and Casey Ory (drums), from there the Vancouver-based band have set out to create honest, powerful modern metal and have repeatedly piled into the “Titan Train” (i.e. their 2007 Ford E-350 van) and traveled across Canada, bringing their music to as great an audience as possible. They’ve played over 80 shows in the past year and a half and 2011 will see them travel further than ever before as tour dates will be announced for Canada, the U.S. and Europe.

“Titans Eve has quickly risen through the ranks of the Vancouver metal scene, quickly becoming one of the best thrash bands in town.” – Absolute Underground  Mag

“The Gamblin brothers shred like crazy, easily making Titans Eve one of the best local (Vancouver) thrash bands. They really blew everyone away, and sent beer flying all over the place.” – Absolute Underground (Live Review)

“I’d like to point out Titans Eve is a band I like because of their anthem filled nature. The songs on show are very easy to sing along to, and that could be just what is needed in metal today. Stand out tracks: Judgement, Nightfall and Becoming The Demon.”
– Ultimate-Guitar.com

“Titans Eve churned out their own unique brand of thrash metal. Brothers Kyle and Brian Gamblin did a great job stirring up the crowd,… With a short but sweet set with crowd favourites including “The Tides of Doom”, “Serpent Rising”, “Into the Fire” and “Living Lifeless,” Titans Eve left it all on stage and made a strong impression.” – Abort Mag (Live Review)

“Thrashy, crunchy goodness that’s perfect to bang your head to.” – Funeralrain.net

“The next act of the night, was again, Vancouver’s own, Titan’s Eve. They had their fans standing strong against the barrier, thrashing amongst one another, and screaming the words back to the guys…Their performance was extremely strong, and energetic. The last song, Brian got the crowd cheering him on to chug a beer, and its my pleasure to say, he successfully chugged a full beer, and finished their set with a song packed with heavy riffs, strong drum beats, and vocals to captivate the audience.” – RockstarWeekly.com (Live Review) from opening w/ Exodus
