WACKEN METAL BATTLE CANADA – Winners: Round 1 Toronto Qualifying – Fragile Existence and Eternal Eclipse
Wacken Metal Battle Canada is proud to announce that Fragile Existence and Eclipse Eternal have moved forward from their qualifying round and will be performing in the Toronto semi finals taking place on May 31st (Hard Luck Bar) and June 7th (Rivoli).
The second Toronto qualifying round will be taking place on Sunday, May 5th at The Rivoli with Crimson Shadows, Adrenechrome, Dreamers, Pyramid Theorem and round 1 of qualifying in Montreal begins on Thursday, May 9th at Katcombes with Dissension, Bookakee, Warcall, Virulys.
About: The world’s most prestigious metal festival, Wacken Open Air, known for its elite line up of the globe’s best metal bands is bringing the largest metal contest on the planet Wacken Metal Battle to Canada. Recruiting 39 independent Canadian bands after hundreds of submissions to compete, Wacken Metal Battle Canada will select one true champion to represent the nation with highest honour at this summer’s 2013 edition of Wacken Open Air Festival in Wacken, Germany.
Being held in Toronto, ON and Montreal, QC during the months of May and June, Canadian metal bands from across the country will challenge one another to join a list of Canadian heavyweights such as Voivod, Exciter, Razor, Annihilator, Anvil, Kataklysm, Cryptopsy, 3 Inches of Bloods, Despised Icon and Danko Jones who have performed at the festival in years past.
The Wacken Metal Battle Canada line up for the qualifying rounds in Toronto & Montreal is as follows and will be judged by a panel of local music industry representatives.

Heavy melodic rockers BREACHED have released a new music video for the strip down acoustic version of their track ‘Control’, which is one of five unplugged tunes from their newly released acoustic EP ‘Revolution Sessions’. The EP features four originals from their 2011 self titled EP along with a cover of Alice In Chains’ ‘No Excuses’.
“Control is a song about being able to push through the shit in our lives and carry on. It’s too easy to sit and dwell on things when there’s so much more waiting for us all to find.” comments vocalist Bobby Noakes.

A five piece group based out of Vernon, British Columbia, Canada, following in the footsteps of bands such as: Behemoth, Dissection, and Immortal, XUL have left the beaten path and set out to forge their own brand of Blackened Death Metal.
An energetic and interactive live performance – with crushing rhythms seamlessly coalescing into atmospheric passages, accompanied by punishing percussion waves and subtle vocal harmonies – expands upon the previously established essence of the sub-genre. With songs reminiscent of war-torn landscapes, destructive human nature and evil intent, XUL has captivated audiences and garnered positive reviews, and on June 16, 2012, released their first full length album, entitled “Malignance”.
Driven by determination and a diverse accumulation of musical comprehension, XUL has toured Western Canada, as well as proven themselves worthy to share the stage with bands such as: Obscura, Exhumed, Vreid, Kampfar, Woods of Ypres, Macabre, Withered, Cephalic Carnage, Archspire and 3 Inches of Blood.
