Featuring a combination of death and thrash metal, Edmonton-based Death Toll Rising are known to devastate their audiences with their high octane performances that has lead the band to share the stage over the years with high profile names such as Kataklysm, Cryptopsy, The Haunted, and Aborted (to name a few).

Originally formed in 2003 in Stony Plain, AB, Canada, they have been grinding the Western Canadian metal scene steadily, gaining huge momentum over the last 3 years. New addition Tylor Dory on guitars has introduced a technical and progressive element to the band they have not had in the past. Add in the intense and relentless drumming provided by Bryan Newbury (recently recruited by Canadian prog/death powerhouse INTO ETERNITY), as well as the well-rounded rhythm provided by Drew Copeland on guitar and Mike Puff on bass, and you get a monster that is only now being unleashed upon the masses with vocalist Jesse Berube topping things off with a combination of brutal death growls and Tomas Lindberg-esqe high shrieks, which will be plenty noticeable as they gear up for the release of their sophomore album‘Infection Legacy’ on October 22nd, the follow up to their 2010 debut album ‘Defecation Suffocation’ and 2008 EP ‘Spontaneous Decapitation’.

“This album has been a long time coming for us, but we firmly believe in taking your time and never releasing something that you feel is inferior in any way. We are incredibly stoked on how this album turned out, and are confident that fans will find it just as crushing as we do! Sharing the stage with international heavyweights like Tyr, Threat Signal and Cryptopsy plus performing in front of their hometown crowd at Heavy MTL 2011 along with recently being finalists at Wacken Metal Battle Canada, Dissension‘s eclectic mix of thrash, black and power metal attacks the darker side of human nature, reaching epic heights and somber depths. Their debut’s ten brutal assaulting tracks were produced by Kevin Jardine of Uplift Productions, (Slaves on Dope, What Comes To Life, One) and mastered by Ryan Morey (Arcade Fire, Priestess, Half Moon Run).

“Having been a band for about six years, we have long anticipated the great day where we could let our music take flight upon the winds of the world. With that in mind, Of Time and Chronic Disease is a summation of our music since it contains some of our very earliest songs to some of our latest. The album has to be taken as a whole, as the individual songs all represent a different facet of the whole that is our music. It’s like a hydra, the beast can only truly be slain if you remove all of its heads and immerse yourself in the dark pools of its blood.”

INSURRECTION Announce Release Of Third Studio Album ‘Prototype’, Streaming New Track ‘Checkmate’

Assaulting witnesses in both languages of French and English, Gatineau, QC death metal band INSURRECTION has blended its calculated technicality to create a signature mixture of merciless death metal that has emerged from the prominent Canadian scene. Growing, modulating and mutating into a machine of an aural onslaught since their conception in 2003 by founding members Martin Samson and Stef Jomphe, the band is officially unleashing their first crowd funded and third full length album ‘Prototype’ produced by Topon Das (Fuck The Facts) on October 15th via Canadian label Galy Records. The album is the follow up to 2010’s ‘Fracture’, a dark prophecy of unforgivable times and a brutal soundtrack to the fall of man and 2009’s ‘Prologue’, which gave first life to the band’s monstrosity.

“We’re really proud to finally bring Prototype to the masses. It represents the next step for Insurrection, trying out different ways to present our own sound, exploring different angles and methods! Australia’s ARCANE SAINTS To Perform At Toronto’s Indie Week This October

Australia’s grunge rocking Arcane Saints are proud to announce their return to Canada to perform at this year’s INDIE WEEK (October 16-20) in Toronto, ON for a series of shows at the festival. (dates to be announced soon)

Vocalist / guitarist Michael John comments:

“Our Canada tour last year was a massive highlight for Arcane Saints. Travelling all the way from Australia was a huge gamble for an indie band like us, but we were really impressed by how passionate and supportive of live music the audiences were. We’re delighted to be invited to play Indie Week Canada this year and are looking forward to rocking the great city of Toronto again!”

Arcane Saints released their debut album ‘Turning The Tide‘ earlier this summer on July 26th via Firestarter Distribution. The album is a rich blend of grunge, blues and metal combined with a pop rock sensibility and produced bymulti-Grammy Award winning producer Toby Wright (Metallica, Kiss, Korn, Alice In Chains) whom after hearing their earlier singles on US radio, invited the Arcane Saints to his hometown of Nashville, TN to record their debut. Toby was a close friend of the late Layne Stayley, singer of Alice In Chains and delighted Arcane Saints by allowing them to use a microphone once owned by the late grunge legend during the recording. In addition to recording, a chance late night meeting in a Nashville bar also lead to Peter Keys (pianist from the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd) making a guest appearance on the album.

Upon its release the album spent 10 days at number one on the sales charts at Waterfront Records, one of Australia’s largest online music retailers. Shortly afterwards, the band became the first Australian band to grace the cover of USA’s Music Insider Magazine.

About:

As a relative of Iron Maiden founding member Steve Harris, music was always in singer/guitarist Michael John’s blood. Although born in the UK, he grew up in New Zealand. After winning The Pacific International Song Writing Competition, Michael spent the prize money on a one way ticket to Melbourne, Australia. Shortly afterwards, he formed Arcane Saints.

Following a few early line up changes, Michael “Sheep” Gooding joined the band as lead guitarist after impressing them with his guitar skills and rock n’ roll hair. Originally from a small town in the outback of Australia, Sheep conquered his boredom in the desert town by honing his guitar skills. Several different drummers came and went before the band finally found their ideal, hard hitting drummer in Sam Sablinskis. With a professional percussionist as a father, Sam was always going to be an accomplished musician.

After a serious injury forced their long term bassist to leave the band, Steve Malone took over bass duties. He had met the others when his previous band was on the same bill at a festival in China. With his simplistic, solid bass playing he was a perfect fit for Arcane Saints.

In a rock scene that is contrived, fake and lacking in “danger,” perhaps the tide is finally turning.
