About: What started out as a therapeutic venture, solely worked on during breaks from duo Underground Realroad, has turned into a full-out journey for Montreal rapper Big Bricc.

One which served as inspiration for and was documented on his first-ever solo effort,‘The Journey Through the Lower City’ mixtape.

“The music on this mixtape was conceived through my love for hip-hop and the desire to continue pushing the limits of my creativity,” says Bricc. “I speak of my own personal issues and focus less on the global state of hip-hop.”

Describing his first project without Underground Realroad’s second half, producer Drex, as “fun, lonely and inspiring”, Bricc explains, “The Lower City is a symbol of the Montreal culture and the areas of my upbringing, namely NDG, UPTOWN, the Plateau and the South Shore. The things I have done and the places I have lived have all been a direct influence on my life and music.”

All 16 Journey Through the Lower City tracks are best described with one word, though: Passionate.

SlimBzTV has posted live video from Death Toll Rising‘s recent CD launches in Edmonton and Calgary for their new album ‘Infection Legacy’ released in October.

The videos can be viewed at the following links:

Infection Legacy (Edmonton CD release show): http://youtu.be/Z8zW2NfCN38
Scorched Earth Policy (Calgary CD release show): http://youtu.be/PnsK48i_sY8

SlimBzTV also captured an amazing drum solo by Death Toll Rising drummer Bryan Newbury during the Edmonton launch, which can be viewed at the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5GrneiBdYI

About: Featuring a combination of death and thrash metal, the Edmonton-based band are known to devastate their audiences with their high octane performances that has lead them to share the stage over the years with high profile names such as Kataklysm, Cryptopsy, The Haunted, and Aborted (to name a few).

Originally formed in 2003 in Stony Plain, AB, Canada, Death Toll Rising have been grinding the Western Canadian metal scene steadily, gaining huge momentum over the last 3 years. New addition Tylor Dory on guitars has introduced a technical and progressive element to the band they have not had in the past. Add in the intense and relentless drumming provided by Bryan Newbury (recently recruited by Canadian prog/death powerhouse INTO ETERNITY), as well as the well-rounded rhythm provided by Drew Copland on guitar and Mike Puff on bass, and you get a monster that is only now being unleashed upon the masses with vocalist Jesse Berube topping things off with a combination of brutal death growls and Tomas Lindberg-esqe high shrieks, which will be plenty noticeable on their new album ‘Infection Legacy’.

Full album stream of ‘Infection Legacy’ can be listened on Beatroute Magazine here or Soundcloud here along with being purchased on Bandcamp here.

About:      Fusing classic hardcore with infectious melodies, Lucid Skies bring aggression and stage banter that invites the crowd to become a part of the performance. Since their 2009 formation they have shared the stage with Fall City Fall, Blind Witness, Fall In Archaea, and Breaking Fourth Wall.

Their enticing vocals combined with melodic riffs allude to metal godfathers; Hatebreed (lyrically, vocally, and melodically) while sticking to their hardcore influences (Comeback Kid, Holly Springs Disaster). Instrumentally, Lucid Skies draws from d-beats, breakbeats, and breakdowns. Their EP ‘Hounds’ is peppered with chugging bass lines and complimented by rhythmic guitar arrangements.

Their origin of Lucid Skies is simple: Jesse Berger kick-started the process for collecting members and establishing a sound for the band in Edmonton in 2009. Soon after, Berger recruited Nick Ogden to enhance the overall aggression and build their signature sound. Many of the members would frequent Avenue Theatre (formerly Avenue Skatepark) and attend local and touring hardcore and metalcore shows. It seemed it was only a matter of time before Sam Jackson (Bass), was bullied by the band to join, and soon followed after by Justin Smith (drums) as the final member for Lucid Skies.

Western Canadian Tour Dates:

November 27, 2013 – TBA – Saskatoon, SK
