Hiring a hit man can sometimes to be seen as a means to an end, but not for Montreal, QC metallers Fallstaf. With their aggressive tendencies and energetic approach to lay it all out in the mosh pit, these brawlers realized that hiring a hit man with a trombone is the means to fuel the fire and only the beginning of what has become.
Forming their own new genre dubbed “Brass Metal”, out of their other more soften music collective North East Bistro. Fallstaf is the angry brother who has melange the trombone assassinations of the hit man with their brand of aggressive / heavy hitting metal that ranges in influences from heavy rock, thrash and hardcore. Expressing their darkest moments from their corner of the world with a creative metal soundscape, Fallstaf released their debut full length  “Bastard Sons of a Pure Breed” on October 25, 2011 to add a new sound to the metal family tree.
The 11 track album of fury is the follow up to Fallstaf’s 2009 EP “The Hitman Plays Trombone” and was self produced by Fallstaf, and mixed and mastered by Kevin Jardine (Slaves on Dope) of Uplift Studios.

Music Video: Chuck Norris – http://youtu.be/5sKW59AgKQk

It’s March of ‘06. The world is asleep. Everything is still. No one is aware that a massive shift in the planet’s tectonic plates has given birth to a juggernaut. Fate has set three individuals on a collision course, their union shaking the very foundations of reality and sound.

Rising out of Montreal’s bubbling metal underground, it can be said that Unbeing have been through it all. Starting out as a three-piece, members came and went, two demos were released to an overwhelmingly positive response, the band won Metal Académie 2 – a two-month-long competition where the band impressed both the audience and esteemed metal judges such as Kataklysm to take home top honors – then decided to shake things up again. Taking the judges’ advice to heart, Unbeing opted to no longer continue sacrificing their creative liberties, removing vocals all-together to finally discovered its true nature in the form of a five-piece ProgEpic InstruMetal band.

But alas, five years after the birthing cries of Unbeing tore holes in the fabric of space and time, individually and as a whole, they have overcome hardships, laughed in the face of danger and stomped on the charred corpse of impossibility. In 2011, the band released its debut full-length album before solidifying its name in the metal community as a five-piece outfit.

Their album spanning 40 minutes of instrumental offerings that screams: There is no turning back, there is no mercy, there is only Unbeing is now set for re-release this September 2013 on vinyl, re-mixed and re-mastered , ready to be received again as a testimony to the group’s composing capabilities.

Album Stream – Of Time And Chronic Disease – http://dissensionofficial.bandcamp.com/album/of-time-and-chronic-disease-2

What started out as Set to Kill in 2007 soon turned into a whole different beast, evolving and shedding its moniker to adopt one that was much more appropriate – Dissension.

Trying to define a style that would set them apart, the Montreal quintet arrived at a truly unique and extra eclectic mix of thrash, black and power metal – a sound that soon got people paying attention. Playing with international heavyweights like Tyr, Threat Signal and Cryptopsy, Dissension debuted on the prestigious Heavy MTL stage in 2011 and made it to the finals of the Wacken Battle Canada this year.

Of Time And Chronic Disease is the band’s first studio album, produced by Kevin Jardine of Uplift Productions, (Slaves on Dope, What Comes To Life, One) and mastered by Ryan Morey (Arcade Fire, Priestess, Half Moon Run), and attacks the darker side of human nature, reaching epic heights and somber depths.

The record, which will be released digitally worldwide on September 10 through Believe Digital, is what all Dissension fans have been waiting for and what all metal fans should listen to.

Edmonton, AB radio station CJSR 88.5 FM has posted an exclusive track by track with Death Toll Rising guitarist Drew Copland for the death metal band’s new album ‘Infection Legacy’ at the following link here.

The album features nine assaulting tracks combining death and thrash metal that has been well received by metal media.

“Some very good things are happening in Western Canadian metal these days, and Edmonton’s Death Toll Rising have come through with a very impressive second album. While rooted in death metal, they occasionally dip into thrash groove and progressive metal technicality, which you don’t see very often, and which gives the music a good, dynamic quality. Savage one minute, intricate the next, the quality on this record is well above your average self-released album, a true diamond in the rough. Don’t miss out on it.” DeciBlog / Decibel Magazine

“I love this album, it is forty-five minutes of full tilt death/thrash excitement.” 5/5 – Metal Talk

“Infection Legacy sticks out from the pack for its meticulous riffing, well crafted hooks, and elements of thrash and progressive metal.” – Edmonton Sun

“Charging riffs, intense growling vocals, chaotic soloing and hard-hitting blast beats. Seems it’s all here. And the legends that came before them would be proud. Sounds like: Devin Townsend hitting up a jam with the late, great Chuck Schuldiner. ” – Scott Jones – Alan Cross : Professional Music Geek: A Journal of Musical Things

“Death Toll Rising is a two-headed monster that won’t even let you take a breath” – Against Magazine

“Infection Legacy is an unbelievable slab of bone-breaking, thrashing death metal that takes no prisoners and instantly pounds the listener into submission. The title track begins spreading the communicable disease with a fast-paced, crushing riff and eerie unnatural guttural growls, and from there the contagion grows like wildfire infecting your ears and eventually your psyche.” – PureGrainAudio.com

BornBroken Announce Drummer Search To Add To Live Line Up And Upcoming Recording

Live Line-Up = (L-R) Simon Savard (Guitar), Matt Bailie (Vocals), Joe Ménard (Drums), Mike Decker (Guitar), Tommy Vaillancourt (Bass) – Photo Credit: James Arsenian

Groove metal band BornBroken have parted ways with drummer Jonathan Menard and are now in search of a hard hitting, blast beating slayer to take on live and upcoming recording duties for the bands follow up to their debut album ‘The Healing Powers of Hate’ released this past summer.

In a statement released by the band:

“It is with a heavy heart today that we announce that BornBroken and long time drummer for the band Jonathan Menard have decided to part ways.

Jonathan has been part of BornBroken for the past 3 years and was a substantial member of the growth of the band. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and we will remain best of friends with him for years to come.

With that being said, we are currently holding video submission auditions for BornBroken. If you think you have what it takes then we want to see it! Please send all video submissions or inquiries to BornBroken facebook page here. Finalists will be contacted for further auditioning.

BornBroken is not going anywhere; we are not disbanding in anyway. We are currently in the writing process for our next album which will be recorded and released sometime in 2014. Stay tuned cause what we have coming up in the near future for The Broken is going to blow your mind…the best is yet to come..see you in the pit.” – BornBroken

In addition, Jonathan Ménard comments:

‘‘It’s really hard to write these lines, but my association with BornBroken is unfortunately over as we have decided to go our separate ways. However, we are on good terms in ending this adventure together and I would like to thank the band that has given me the chance to be part of a family, life experiences and cherished memories. Thank you to everyone who believed in me and I will never forget BornBroken.’’

BornBroken‘s debut album ‘The Healing Powers of Hate’ was released earlier this June. The album was fan voted as Album of The Week (June 10th) on Revolver Magazine, along with debuting #8 on Canadian College Loud Charts, plus being named one of the best unsigned Heavy Metal Bands for June by Drago’s Dungeon on About.com – Heavy Metal. They have also received great admiration from Yell Magazine! quoting ‘This is a debut metal album of epic proportions. If it’s not the Canadian metal album of the year, it’s certainly in the running for Canadian debut metal album.’ and TheFrontRowReport.com quoting ‘BornBroken may be the best metal band you probably haven’t heard of. Those who love hard, heavy, angry metal are in for a treat and may find a new favorite in BornBroken.’.

About:

BornBroken was formed with one simple mission in mind: Help the masses find a voice, a face, an “X” that marks the spot through the sounds of beating skins, metal strings and broken chords.

After months of writing and hours spent in the studio, BornBroken managed to take every emotion they felt, put it to music, build off of past battle scars and create a record where listeners will feel they are part of the storyline.

On their debut album, The Healing Powers of Hate, BornBroken play out not only what life has given them but also what they want to give back: truth, integrity, perseverance, loyalty and faith in humanity’s struggle for equality.
