Winnipeg, MB melodic death metal band LAIKA are proud to premiere their track ‘Escalation of Terror’ via Bloody-Disgusting.com in promotion of their forthcoming full length album ‘Somnia’ due out September 30, 2014 on Filth Regime Records.
“Escalation of Terror is one of the newer songs in the Laika library and is a good song to use as an example as to where we are going as a band. It’s the first track we share off the CD and it surely will get your blood flowing.” comments vocalist Jordan Dorge.
Bloody-Disgusting – Escalation of Terror – http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3303017/laika-escalation-terror-song-premiere-exclusive/
Founded in 2009 as a six-piece and named after the Soviet dog who became one of the first animals to travel to space, the band unleashed a self-released album in 2010, then hit the road, sharing the stage with the likes of All Shall Perish, Kataklysm, Necronomicon and Unleash the Archers, before temporarily backing away from the spotlight.
Driven by a thirst for evolution, LAIKA spent two years constructing and writing its upcoming full-length album, ‘Somnia’, filling it with melodic hooks, ominous keys and lyrics that are bound to get stuck in listeners’ heads to an almost maddening degree. Brace yourself, as this fall; LAIKA will hit the scene hard, just like they did all those years ago.

Death Doom Metallers PSYCHOTIC GARDENING Announce ‘Hymnosis’ Eastern Canadian Tour

L-R – Matt Penner (Drums) – Mike Janssen (Bass) – Gillishammer (Vocals) – Chuck Labossiere (Guitar/Vocals) – Andrew Wiens (Guitar) – Photo Credit: Barry McCaulkner
Winnipeg, MB death doom metal band Psychotic Gardening is proud to announce their Eastern Canadian tour that will see the band perform dates in Ontario and Quebec in promotion of their album ‘Hymnosis’ released May 2014.
Guitarist Andrew Wiens comments:
“We’re really excited about getting to play in Ontario and Quebec. It’s going to be the first time at a lot of these places for us and so far the new album HYMNOSIS has been awesome to take out on the road. For us, we grew up listening to Voivod and Sacrifice, bands that we felt represented Montreal and Toronto extremely well, so we respect the history, and hard work that bands have done here, shaping the landscape we’re about to march on. We’re old school ourselves, and we want to bring our own dark sounds to old fans and new.”

“The song (Origin of The Infection) alternately lumbers like a behemoth and hammers like a giant sledge on an anvil. A serpentine melody slithers it sway through the midst of all the gargantuan body blows, and the band’s vocal tandem of Gillishammer and Chuck Labossiere unleash a vicious assault. There’s enough groove in the song to split asphalt and enough dank atmosphere to rust iron.” – No Clean Singing
“nine tracks of pure, blistering doom/death metal” – Bloody-Disgusting
“If you’re into that old school feel, you don’t want to miss out on this release” – Counter Culture Nerd
“Psychotic Gardening has delivered a new LP, Hymnosis, that will become an instant favorite of metal heads. This is not a debatable statement but one of fact and I believe that you will join me in that statement as you listen to the well crafted progressions and pounding drums. Each cut takes on a life of it’s own and you can not only hear the procession but also feel it as well. Do yourself a favor and get this LP on May 13th. Words can not even describe how much I enjoyed listening to this brutal work of metal art but I hope that you understand where I’m going with it.” – Tommy Tee – Insane Realm Radio
“Without a doubt one of the albums that I most listened in the last few weeks, Hymnosis should quickly become a favourite. Altough it is way more death metal than doom, it carries the dark and heavy veil of death-doom, without getting depressive or negative. If death metal is your cup of tea but you dare trying a different flavour from time to time, Hymnosis is the perfect introduction to death-doom for you.” – Metal Made In Canada
“Psychotic Gardening mixes elements of death, doom, thrash and classic heavy metal with great results: Hymnosis is nothing short of incredible. The first big highlight of summer 2014.” – Emurg
“Now the next leading act in the Canadian scene has certainly impressed me and given me hope for the vast land to churn out a lot of good music in the years to come. By that I am referring to blackened doom metal outfit: Psychotic Gardening and their fourth album: HYMNOSIS. This very impressive release opens with very loud, fast and extremely heavy black metal tunes from the first track.” – The Independent Voice
“Opening cut “Origin of the Infection” is crushing from the jump and you can tell right away this is a quality production with a rich sound.” – Wormwood Chronicles
“I enjoyed every track on this release, from the opener ‘Origin Of The Infection’ which was recently released as a single, the terror filled ‘Defile’, ‘Re-Hybridized Strain’, with its slower tempo and darkly lamenting feel, completed with the addition of haunting guitar work and ‘Mindfold’, with an intriguing mix of psychedelic and crushing, doom laden death Metal….’Hymnosis’ is a fascinating, unnerving, atmospheric and enjoyable listen.” – Metal Talk
“Psychotic Gardening is unbelievable…fertile gothic doom metal form with deep, bottom dwelling crooner vocals backed by solid percussion, incredible keys and slashing guitar riffs.” – Uptown Mag
“Be sure to see Psychotic Gardening when they invade your town or city. The being in the sky orders you to see them or be prepared to pay with your soul!” – Metal Master Kingdom
“Psychotic Gardening has always been able to deliver crushing, mid-tempo, heavy madness and this teaser tells me its next album won’t disappoint, more info to come!” – Metal Made In Canada
“Menacing, frequently unnerving and atmospheric…” – Winnipeg Sun

“Last weekend was the last date of the Wreck the Road Tour, which occurred in the town of LaBaie in the region of Saguenay. Saguenay is a northern region of the province of Quebec. It is a five-hour drive from Montreal, and two hours past Quebec City. The region has a reputation for its wonderful landscapes, for its ratio of six women for one man, but most importantly, for its wonderful metal scene. The legendary Voivod are from this place!”
