Obscene Extreme America is proud to announce the return of Boston, MA’s PSYCHO to the fest since their performance at the European edition in Czech Republic in 2011 (watch video here). Joining them will be Paris, France’s grindcore commandos DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION for their first show date in Canada along with the reformation of Austrian old school death grinders PUNGENT STENCH, now dubbed SCHIRENC PLAYS PUNGENT STENCH. Even with the name change, the band’s mission remains the same: bringing the music from Austria’s sickest band back to life and keeping the flame burning. PUNGENT STENCH‘s first and last show in Montreal, QC was in 1994. Watch live video of them from Graspop 2014 here.

After being on hiatus since 2008, Fayne reformed in 2013 with a renewed hunger and dedication to the Canadian metal scene to deliver a metal sound coupled with melodic, attitude-fueled breakdowns to compliment their high energy performances full of positive vibes, and ridiculously powerful guitar solos. Heavily influenced by bands such as Counterparts, Mastodon, and Periphery, Fayne’s ‘The Queen of Kings’ features a special guest appearance by Misery Signals vocalist Karl Schubach on their track Nomad’s Land plus was produced by guitarist Alex Gonzalez with the help from Alan Douches of West West Side Music (Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die, Between the Buried and Me) for the final mastering. The EP is the follow up to their 2004 debut ‘You Took it All Away’ and 2006’s ‘Delivering The Final Blow’ that lead the band on multiple Canadian tours plus opening slots to support bands like Alexisonfire, Underoath, Hopesfall and Blessed By A Broken Heart.

Local dudes from Essex County (an hour south of Windsor/ Detroit area) , THEM COUNTY BASTARDZ are in it to make old school metal with back forty rock and having fun while doing it! Their album ‘Sick Daze’ is produced by Chris Towle and TBC plus mastered by Chuck Carvaalho, and features seven tracks inspired by true stories and experiences of the band living life in the county.

Fun Fact: The album title Sick Daze refers to when you take a Monday off work because you are still feeling the weekend fun.

“Once upon a time, metal was actually fun, no really. And the splendidly named Them County Bastardz harken back to that era. What you got here are some seriously well-written riff-based tracks (crushing riffs, real’ wall of sound’ stuff) in the vein of Black Label Society and Pantera circa Cowboys From Hell. There’s also something of Alice In Chains in there too. Good influences, but Them County Bastardz have a strong personality all of their own. Overall, it’s like some crazy concept album. I kept thinking of Smokey and the Bandit as I listened to it. Indeed, it’s feel good stuff all the way, a great joke at the expense of the dire band Extreme (never was a band more badly named! Pathetic would have been a more apt moniker). The production, by the band and a certain Chris Towle, is first class. As a constructive suggestion, not a criticism, I detect an AC/DC influence, and I’d like to hear them do more of this in future. Overall, a damn fine album!” – Hellbound.ca
