About:

Since early 2011, Grand Prairie, AB’s Arrival of Autumn has been shaking up the Canadian prairies with their heavy riffs, hooky vocals and speed demon double kicks. Their versatile headbanging tunes has made them accessible to fans of rock to the most hardcore death metal moshpit.

A band name inspired by Opeth lyric’s (thanks to drummer Ty Fox) and influenced by various genres ranging from melodic death to groove metal to progressive to rock n’ roll, AOA’s catalogue has grown rapidly with two self-releases in 2014. First it was their debut EP ‘Endless Nights’ in March followed by their ten track full length ‘Shadows’ in September.

“We are just trying to make a record that’s a little different than what’s going on at the moment. It’s no secret there is an abundance of the exact same thing floating around and we would never add to that. We wanted to give them something exciting and different to listen to. The good thing about our album is you can take any 3 songs put them together and it’s great. Our CD doesn’t rely on having only a few good songs. Every song has the potential to be a single. It can be received any way and people will get what AOA is all about.” comments AOA vocalist Ty Fox.

Touching on personal issues to triumphing demons as a band, ‘Shadows’ with a dash of dark lyrics and tracks such as The Court Of Owls to There’s No Angels Here to the infectious chorus of Like Fire demonstrates AOA are not just evolving, but  are a live force raging to be discovered by the masses.

“In their punishing debut, Calgary metal trio False Flag skirt between multiple sub-genres while never fully committing to one. As such, they’ve created something original and crushing that is never cliché.” – Sarah Kitteringham, BeatRoute

“These guys don’t just write riffs, they craft songs and that’s the best compliment I can give any band. I look forward to hearing a full length from these guys as if they can keep up this kind of quality over the course of a full album then they will definitely be a forced to be reckoned with on the metal scene.” – Eric Walls,That Metal Station

PureGrainAudio.com are hosting the exclusive stream ‘Sacrifice of Solitude’ off of the ‘Nest of Vipers’ EP from Calgary groove metallers FALSE FLAG. This track is the first song off of their 2015 EP slated to be released Tuesday, August 4 and available for pre-orderhere. The Calgary four piece wanted to ensure that fans would not be completely caught off guard by the changes from this new EP to older albums like Orobas (2013) or Suffer In Silence (2014).

“We wanted to start the EP off with a familiar sounding song, something that could have been off our last album or our first EP. “Sacrifice Of Solitude” is a solid, mid tempo rocker with a bouncy groove throughout. The lyrics deal with the spreading of lies through disinformation and the defiance of blissful ignorance. The song also features guest vocals from Garrett McElroy from Afterearth (Who also engineered and mixed the new EP at his studio). We are excited to share this gnarly tune with ya’ll at Puregrainaudio.com, so crack a cold one and turn it up!” – Russ Gauthier (Guitar and vocals).

FALSE FLAG just finished performing at Farmageddon Open Air Fest two weeks ago on the same day as Aggression, The Order of Chaos, and GrimReaper. They also announced the local EP Release Party in their hometown of Calgary, Alberta taking place on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Distortion (3828 MacLeod Trail South).

Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/819343731497783/

FALSE FLAG invited some old friends AfterEarth and Lordosis (both bands Russ Gauthier has play/played in, as well as Oh Shit, and From The Wolves. Tickets are available at the door the night of the show for $10. The CD Release show wraps up their seven-day tour across Alberta and Saskatchewan, just 4 days away from their album release. The band will have ‘Nest of Viper’ EPs and t-shirts available while they are on tour.

Biography

Calgary’s down-tuned super-group False Flag are a heavy hitting 4 piece that produce loud groovy metal.

Formed in 2012 as a side project for Russ Gauthier (Lordosis, Meggido, and We Found The Body) and Nick Purdy (Meggido). They soon recruited Garrett McElroy (AfterEarth) as a bass player and recorded their first EP (Orobas) at Garrett’s apartment studio.

Prior to performing at Calgary Metalfest, and Vernstock the band recruited Dan Ishak (Meggido, Stinger) on bass as Garrett’s band Afterearth was picking up steam. In January 2014 False Flag started recording the full length album “Suffer In Silence”. Finally guitarist Mike Harach (Meggido, Stinger) was added and solidified the bands thick live sound. John Byskal (We Found The Body) joined the band (replacing Nick Purdy) in February 2015 and their lineup was settled.

False Flag is currently in the studio recording their 3rd release, “Nest Of Vipers” EP. The EP will be released August 4th, 2015 and will start with an Alberta/Saskatchewan tour July 2015.

“…With their punkified Meshuggah-esque guitar judding, and powerful howling vocals, they got the crowd moving.” – Beatroute

“What metal is lacking is more bands like False Flag who realize how vast the genre is, how much imagery, lyrical themes and sounds are available, and who take only what is right for them to make their music, without being embarrassed or strident about the boundaries.” – Gareth Watkins, BeatRoute,

About:
Started as a recording project in the late 90’s, it wasn’t until 2001 that the work ethic that produced a slew of underground releases drove Fuck The Facts towards full band status and into the live arena. Since then, the Ottawa-based unit has barely stopped for a breath of reconsideration, associating themselves with some of the biggest labels in underground extreme music, as well as continuing a steady output of DIY releases. Having toured hundreds of thousands of kilometers throughout North America and Europe, guitarist/founder Topon Das, vocalist Mel Mongeon, drummer Mathieu Vilandré, bassist/vocalist Marc Bourgon, and guitarist Johnny Ibay have performed at some of the biggest festivals and sweated it out in some of the smallest basements. From 2006-2011 Fuck The Facts released three albums via underground powerhouse label, Relapse Records.  Upon the completion of their contract, the quintet decided it was time to put the finishing touches on the proverbial full-circle, returning to the world of fierce independence and creative control. Their most recent releases were produced entirely at their own studio, self-released, and shows Fuck The Facts efforts as an entity continuing to grow musically and personally while developing a deeper understanding of what significance their art holds to them. As one of the longest running and most recognizable names in Canadian Grindcore, FUCK THE FACTS continue to deliver their brand of “Bastardized Grindcore” with no end in sight.

NEWS: KILL MATILDA Sign To LITTLE HEART RECORDS For New EP + Premiere New Video ‘Needle And Thread’ On Exclaim!

NEW EP SONGS OF SURVIVAL OUT AUGUST 25

Canada’s favorite sweaty, sexy punk rock nomads Kill Matilda have two pieces of good news to share. First, they have signed to Louisville’s Little Heart Records.

Secondly, the label will release the band’s brand new EP, Songs of Survival, on August 25.

Exclaim! has premiered the video for “Needle and Thread.” Watch it here. The song is also available for purchase here and will be available on iTunes next week.

Songs of Survival produced by GGGarth Richardson, engineered by Nygel Asselin and GGGarth at the Farm Studio in Vancouver BC, and mixed by Ben Kaplan and Scott Ternan.

“We have waited a long time to sign with the right label and we are excited to be partnering with Little Heart Records,” the band said. “Signing with Little Heart is the first step on the next leg of our rock ‘n ‘roll journey. We wanted to do this release justice in terms of pushing it out there to our fans and we think Little Heart is the right label to do that with.”

Songs of Survival Track Listing (Little Heart, August 22):

“Needle and Thread”

“Nostradamus”

“Live To See”

“Sanctuary”

“Holding Out For A Hero”

“Party Harder, Party Starter”

“Kill Matilda may be the best punk band you haven’t heard of. Based out of Canada and solely a DIY band, it’s very possible this female-fronted fist full of punk fury has flown under your radar. Not anymore, though. Their latest release, the #Punk#Zombie#RocknRoll EP is a throwback to the classic punk movement with a little bit of horror rock mixed in, serving as an impressive tribute to The Misfits (not that new “Misfits” crap- the real Misfits).” – The Front Row Report

“Opening up with Pomegranate and through to I Want Revenge hints of The Misfits and The Cramps instantly emerge from this vigorous group. Zombie Apocalypse and Law Abiding Citizen continue the mayhem through to the penultimate track PBJ which typifies your current day zombie. What really caught my attention was the final track Geisha With A Switchblade, this is a powerful depictive of the ultimate in revenge to a bad guy whilst enjoying every last detail. Check below the new video for Law Abiding Citizen and enjoy, if you’re nearby any venues these guys are tearing then get yourself down for a set of carnage!” All About The Rock UK

“I can’t say enough good things about this 6 track EP from KILL MATILDA. This is one of those gems that you’ll be happy you found early enough before their RISE amongst the LIVING! Check em out” – Heavy Metal ICU

“this is a fresh and exciting burst of musical energy that looks forward to the future rather than to late-90s nonsense. From the start, I loved the power of Dusty Exner’s voice. She can scream with the best of them, but—lucky for us—can also carry a tune.” – Sea of Tranquility

“A six track extended player crashed landed in my inbox like a bull in a china shop thanks to a Punk Rock outfit called Kill Matilda… The title of this E.P. is “#Punk#Zombie#RocknRoll” and it takes no prisoners!” – Rockulus Maximus

“if there’s one thing thing guaranteed to wake the slumbering beast from the annual hibernation it’s some gravelly voiced and quite frankly excellent punk. If you like Hole, The Misfits or The Offspring (and Yeah, Yeah Yeahs,) and let’s face it who doesn’t, then these guys are right up your alley…down and dirty punk with sexy riffs and a promise of blood, fists and stomping buy this on March 4th. You won’t regret it.” – Wyrd Ways Show Review

“The EP is packed full of high energy, powerful tracks. I personally find that the band makes you feel like you are at their show, rocking out with them. It’s a mix of songs that gives you chills and makes you feel empowered by just listening.” – Canadian Beats
