About:
Taking their experiences from past bands (Snaggletooth, Scissortooth, Dead End Ascension, Skookum, My Own Chaos, Luciferian Conquest, Torrential Pain, Tides of Honor and Annora), SAINTS OF DEATH are veteran musicians of the Vancouver scene ready to debut their self-titled EP this September 25, 2015 to introduce metal fans to a new sound coming from the Canadian West coast.
“We think this EP should be listened to with open ears. Breaking the mold of typical sub-genre based metal, we try to cover all types of metal with lyrical content aimed at the problems with today’s government, moral value, and the supernatural occult. We think it should be received as another solid attempt to raise awareness of the wrongs of society and another conscience effort to make change along with wanting new fans to listen to our music and enjoy the quality of musicianship, engineering and lyrical content. We chose our favorite 5 tracks out of the first 7 we wrote to put on this self-titled EP.” comments vocalist/ bassist Twan Holliday.
Even with their debut being released, fans can expect a lot more from Saints of Death in the near future.
“We have a bunch of un-recorded material. We plan on taking a break from live shows, shortly after our EP release tour in Sept/Oct to finish writing enough material to record our first full length.”
Aiming to set the bar high with a live behemoth of ampage, backed by a custom light show, SAINTS of DEATH are pushing forward to take on the biggest stages and crowds and win over fans who enjoy headbanging to such bands as Black Sabbath, Lamb of God, Overkill, Motorhead, and Pantera.
Track by track of Saints of Death EP explained by Twan Holliday:
1. Army of the Dead: This song is written from the perspective of a Viking in battle. Its underlying message is about the battle of life. “Everyone’s born, everyone dies”, we fight hard and strong, live, laugh, love and when it’s our time to die, we die!
2. Doom 5.1: This song is about organized religion and greed.
3. Blood Vendetta: This song is written about blood vendettas around the world. It’s about people being born into war, and fighting wars started by generations before them in order of gaining redemption for their lost family.
4. Revolution: This song is about unity and standing up for what is right! It’s a call to people everywhere to join together and fight for their rights and what’s right through Revolution.
5. Angels and Demons: This song is written about an old man on his deathbed. Not happy with his life he struggles though a battle between the right and wrong he has done and who will take possession of his soul; angels or demons.
Fun Fact: Besides being a musician vocalist / bassist Twan Holliday has acting credits for movies American Mary (2012), The Devils Ground (2009) w/ Darryl Hanna, Stan Helsing (2009) (Leslie Neielson’s last movie), Catwoman (2004) w/ Halle Barry, Psych (TV Show) plus has done stunts on Super Natural (TV Show) and Pathfinder (2007). Twan was also a pro hard-core wrestler of 10 years and was on TV every Saturday at 1pm on KVOS TV12 (Bellingham, WA) plus was asked to train for WWE.

– August 21, 2014 @ 10:30pm, a 2 dimensional disc approx. 40 ft in diameter, surrounded in orange/red plasma appears over the City of Hamilton. He immediately files a full report with MUFON. (full report here)- 2015 Kevin Estrella attends the Alien Cosmic Exhibition (ACE) in Brantford, Ontario. He meets with MUFON investigator Stu Bundy who took his report. They are very excited to see him. They are doing a presentation at ACE that includes his sighting. They deem it to be AUTHENTIC.- What is drawing attention, is from official UFO database reports, there is no record of any UFO sighting in the city of Hamilton the night of August 21, 2014.HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO WITNESSED IT.- He personally meets with world respected Ufologist, Grant Cameron to discuss the matter. He says this phenomenon is not uncommon; where one person is witness to a sighting and others around do not see it. He went on to explain how the same thing happened to John Lennon, in New York City.
– Grant has done extensive research into the subject of the UFO/alien phenomenon and its particular interest with musicians. Many musicians have come forward and have had personal alien/UFO encounters, and are getting musical ideas through downloads. Estrella discussed with Grant how he too, gets songs from dreams and nearly all his music seems to come from channeling into an energy source from elsewhere. The alien rock stories Grant talks about in his presentation sounds much like Estrella’s own personal experiences. That is what drew him to attend ACE in the first place.
– Grant is under the notion that the fact that no-one else saw it, this UFO sighting was meant for Estrella to see.
– Estrella is lead to believe the UFO/Musician connection Grant speaks of, He is a part of this group.

“With the new release “Echo Cosmic” coming out on September 8th, 2015 they continue to blow minds and bend genre. The last I can explain by using two completely different bands in one sentence. This band accelerates from Iron maiden to Meshuggah in about 2 seconds….Overall this record is mind bending and goes beyond what is being made nowadays. Pyramids on Mars blows borders of metal and rock away and leaves you with a satisfied feeling.” Rating 9/10. – Dutch Metal Maniac
“If anything, it is taking the road less travelled – in this case, guitar-driven, instrumental music- that helps Pyramids on Mars stand out from the plethora of other groups vying for a piece of the prog rock pie.” – Canadian Musician Magazine
“Kevin Estrella, much like Vai, much like Satriani, can make his guitar truly communicate and display emotion. There’s a real passion that Kevin plays with that only comes along every so often…a real magic. There could be a complete saturation with this type of instrumentally-driven music one day. I have the feeling that even IF this was to happen, Pyramids on Mars would STILL stand out miles from the rest.” – Sleeping Bag Studios
“The music scene is very saturated with artists and bands pretty much doing the same thing (stylistically speaking). With the current popularity of instrumental guitarists like Joe Satriani, there is a good possibility of instrumental rock coming back. Pyramids on Mars have a niche market with very little competition that they can control the market share in that music genre.” Coalition Entertainment Management Jesse Mitchell |Coalition Music
“And with influences like Metallica (probably post-black album), Jimi Hendrix, and Joe Satriani it is clear that Pyramids on Mars knows the kind of music they love, how to create their own version, and make us listeners enjoy it as much as they do.” Metal Addicts
“The guitarist member is impressively high-quality. His constant and non-stop lead work is where he shines. Smooth, melodic, adapt and soaring lead after lead on song after song speaks of good soloing. Kevin Estrella is in the same ballpark as David Gilmour.” – Metallian
“Pyramids on Mars is a musical journey. Dizzying guitar work swiftly flying between genres and showing skill that few acts are capable of achieving in the country right now.” Two Way Monologues

About: Formed in 2007, Display of Decay is widely noted for bringing a unique blend of old school death metal, with tinges of thrash and doom metal. Hailing from Edmonton, the band has spread their infection across Western Canada, sharing the stage alongside other elite acts such as, The Faceless, Origin, Beyond Creation & more..After four well received indie releases, DISPLAY OF DECAY is ready to unleash its next full length “Dust of Existence” that features eight aural assaulting tracks that will set the mosh pits ablaze. Due out later this Fall 2015 with the support of a Western Canadian tour, “Dust of Existence” is a direct epilogue to their 2014 EP, “Outbreak of Infection”.“We aimed to keep a similar style of groove on this record as we had on previous releases, with heavy punchy riffs that are near impossible to keep out of your head, but still maintain that raw edge we have become known for. With the artwork as well, we wanted it portrayed in such fashion that it plays out the story being told from the Outbreak record to this new record, which is basically a devastating virus that has been unleashed upon mankind, terrorizing and annihilating everything in its path, “Dust of Existence” is the aftermath of these events. Nothing left but scattered remains of what was once there. ” comments guitarist Sean Watson.
With a few of the tracks on the record written during the “Outbreak of Infection” recording sessions, which the band felt weren’t quite ready at the time to be recorded. During this writing session for “Dust of Existence”, DISPLAY OF DECAY especially tried to make sure each and every song was very diverse from the rest of the tracks.
Watson explains.
“We didn’t want it to feel as though there was any formula or predictability going on. We find that far too many metal bands form a niche that is their “go-to” when it comes to writing, and that it becomes a predictable comfort-zone that can make a record feel as though the same track is being played from start to finish and really make the listener feel completely disengaged from what is actually being played in front of them. We like to throw whatever change-ups or fills in that I can to really make the listener that much more integrated into the tracks.”
Track by Track – ‘Dust of Existence’:
1. Created to Kill – When DISPLAY OF DECAY approached the writing of this song, they were originally beginning to rework and old track that had been scrapped about 5 years ago. When they made a couple changes and the track turned into something completely different than what they had anticipated. This is one of the fastest if not the fastest track on the record, where they started incorporating more blast beats, and very heavy gallops on the guitars. The lyrics are based on events from 19th century Europe, around the origination of Frankenstein’s monster, and the attempts at resurrecting someone from the dead.
2. Relentless Reprisal – This track was lyrically of a personal matter. Its concept is that of getting revenge in the most gruesome of ways against somebody who had wronged you in one way or another.
3. High Voltage Castration – This was one of the last tracks written for the album, and is one of the most challenging of their entire catalog to perform, but also one of the most enjoyable. Its written about the “Tucker Telephone,” which was a torture device from the 1960’s that consisted of an old hand-crank telephone and an electric generator. If information was required of a prisoner, or they were found to be disobedient, they would be taken to a hospital room and restrained to a table, where a ground wire would be attached to the large toe, and the hot wire would be attached to the genitals, causing a massive electrical current to ensue, typically causing major deformation to the appendage.
4. Maruta – Based off the events of the Japanese “Unit 731″ experiments, this song outlines some of the gruesome acts that were bestowed upon prisoners during the WWII, which goes from live artillery testing, all the way to forced organ failures and vivisection.
5. Cellar Goreatory – Since the band’s inception, they have always tried to stay closely entwined to the early roots of death metal, and this track in particular follows that very in your face, savage groove that you cannot help but bang your head along to. The lyrical concept was based on a story guitarist Sean Watson was told from an acquaintance who had returned from vacation, which in a short version of the story, the person had a near fatal encounter with someone who was later to have found harboring the bodies of dead female tourists in their basement.
6. Messiah Complex – This was one of the earlier tracks DISPLAY OF DECAY had been performing before the recording process had begun for ‘Dust of Existence’. It starts off fairly slow and melodic, but has very heavy bridge sections, and takes a fast pace very quickly towards the ending.
7. Nyctophilia – This was the first track written out of the eight. It keeps a much slower pace than the rest of the album, but showcases a very dark tone from start to finish.
8. Dust of Existence – When DISPLAY OF DECAY began writing the lyrics for this song, There was no music behind it, and the band had a much different concept that was eventually altered to fit the story being told. When the writing of this track began, they knew right away it was easily going to be the longest song, it had to, it basically is the calm after the storm. With all that was said and done from “Outbreak of Infection” right to where they are now with “Dust of Existence,” this track basically plays out the events that have unfolded, both through the songs, and in real life events around being in this band. Many things have changed since their formation in 2007, and the stories that could be told over that 8 years could last for days, and this song is a testament to the past, present, and future of DISPLAY OF DECAY.

Reviews from Outbreak of Infection EP (2014)
“The EP contains 5-tracks of, “…grim and gore,” perfect for fans of Deicide and Cannibal Corpse” – Bloody-Disgusting
““Outbreak of Infection” is a Deicide-al rampage of fast, rapacious riffing and spitfire soloing, with gut-punching drums and a gruesomely guttural vocal performance. These dudes do a good jump injecting the music with snake venom and radiating an aura of ravenous evil. They bring the death metal brutality, spiced up with insidious melody and high-voltage fretwork.” – No Clean Singing
“Display of Decay is a Death Metal outfit with old-school sensibilities. They’re melodic without entering Melodic Death, and they’re brutal without becoming cliche. This is just some shit you have to hear for yourself.” – Yell Magazine
“From its outstanding cover art to its heaviest predatory note, Outbreak of Infection the new EP from Canadian death metallers Display Of Decay, is one richly appetising and satisfying proposition. Unleashing five tracks which crawl and lumber over the senses with tenacious and skilled purpose, the release pushes the Edmonton based quartet another few strides towards the brightest spotlight. Maybe it does not hold any major surprises but without doubt the EP makes for a fresh and rigorously protagonist which is thoroughly compelling.” – Ring Master Review
“Outbreak of Infection, a mid-paced slab of brutality in the vein of Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, and Nile. Showing they wear their influences on their sleeves, this trio also sounds nothing like the aforementioned bands at times, their own sound gleaming vile from the pile of corpses they wear.” – Crown of Viserys
“Canada’s power trio, aptly known as Display of Decay play old school death metal with growl vocals and catchy hooks that’ll make you bang your head.” Explicitly Intense
“This is a real listenable EP due to is crunchy drive and catchy rhythms. It is Brutal Death Metal but it has the kind of songs you could put in a zombie film for added tension and brutality…The guttural vocals are strong low and perfect for these tracks. This is an EP you can throw in and listen to all five songs, the last of which is a Kiss cover Black Diamond.” – Blackened Horde
“There is something noteworthy about each of the five tracks on this EP from the pulsating opening rhythms of first track; ‘Born Of Rot’ which has some great off-kilter technical riffs woven into its sound. The pounding ‘Manchurian Candidate’ is heavy as hell but still manages to have an underlying groove and is finished off with some thrashy guitar work. ‘Praise The Gore’ has a definite doom edge in places, balance nicely against some thrashy guitar segments and good tempo and direction change that keeps it interesting. With title track ‘Outbreak Of Infection’ my interest was grabbed at the opening vocal roar, and maintained by the insanely constructed, catchy rhythms. The final track is a mind-blowing cover of Kiss’s ‘Black Diamond’ from 1974 and THIS is how that track was meant to sound, brutal, crunchy and catchy, a superb rendition.” – Metal Talk

Edmonton, AB’s brutal horror mayhem known as BLEED has teamed up withMetalAddicts.com for the exclusive track premiere for ‘Blood Ashes’, the second single from their debut full length ‘The Hatred Inside’ due out on Sept 29th to follow up their 2014 Self-Titled EP. BLEED whom were also 2015 Wacken Metal Canada finalists, will be hitting the road this September for dates in across Alberta and British Columbia (dates listed below).
“Here is a song telling a tale of demonic warfare from the perspective of the victorious hoard. Once the world is laid to waste and the bodies heaped in piles, all is set to burn leaving nothing but Blood Ashes. Enjoy the carnage!” comments vocalist Robert Kreed.
To listen to ‘Blood Ashes’ please visit the following link: http://metaladdicts.com/site/bleed-blood-ashes-exclusive-song-premiere/
Both digital and physical copy of The Hatred Inside can be pre-ordered at band’s Bandcamp page.

Bringing horror, mayhem, and pain through a medium that brushes on brutal death metal. BLEED‘s live show combines costumed performances with crushing, groovy thrash peppered with blood. The band pays homage to theatrical metal kings, GWAR, through their own original material and costume design. They guarantee that fans will be chanting along with their grotesque lyrics from such songs as ‘Committed’ complete with appropriate props to accompany much of the material they write.
The blood covered four piece is comprised of Ron (guitarist), Rob (vocalist), Mike (Bass) who also plays bass in Samandriel, and Chuck (Drums) who also plays in Idolatry and Ivardensphere. They draw inspiration from many bands; Slayer for their in your face delivery and lyrical content, GWAR for their stage show and lyrical content, Strapping Young Lad for their chaotic sound and comedic entertainment, Zimmer’s Hole for their stage show and variety of song style, and DevilDriver for their overall heavy/borderline death metal sound.
Their song writing strategy is simple: start with a guitar riff, structure it, and map it out, from there they add bass and drums, rehearse liberally, and continue to craft the instrumentals until they are completely ‘fleshed’ out. Lyrics are usually written in one sitting by Robert (vocals), once the emotion is found, a story begins to unfold, be it about war, demons, death, torture, and other unpleasantries.
The band has released a self-titled EP in 2014, and plan to release their debut full-length on September 29, 2015 accompanying it will be a booklet with individual band photos, grotesque artistic imagery, and lyrics for the songs. Fans and crowds are guaranteed to be covered in blood by the end of the show with their endless ferocity.
