It is one ravenous album that really takes you by force and blossoms into evil virulence. Each track is a tirade of brutal thrash that you won’t be able to resist as it chugs into life.

From the opening drum fills of “Space Race”, the lead track on their sophomore effort Winter’s Doom, Sanktuary had its’ hooks into this listener. A blistering headbanger from the opening skin bashing to the closing guitar note, Winter’s Doom crashes along for near 33 minutes despite only being seven tracks in length.

About FTF:

Started as a recording project in the late 90’s, it wasn’t until 2001 that the work ethic that produced a slew of underground releases drove Fuck The Facts towards full band status and into the live arena. Since then, the Ottawa-based unit has barely stopped for a breath of reconsideration, associating themselves with some of the biggest labels in underground extreme music, as well as continuing a steady output of DIY releases. Having toured hundreds of thousands of kilometers throughout North America and Europe, guitarist/founder Topon Das, vocalist Mel Mongeon, drummer Mathieu Vilandré, bassist/vocalist Marc Bourgon, and guitarist Johnny Ibay have performed at some of the biggest festivals and sweated it out in some of the smallest basements. From 2006-2011 Fuck The Facts released three albums via underground powerhouse label, Relapse Records.  Upon the completion of their contract, the quintet decided it was time to put the finishing touches on the proverbial full-circle, returning to the world of fierce independence and creative control. Their most recent releases were produced entirely at their own studio, self-released, and shows Fuck The Facts efforts as an entity continuing to grow musically and personally while developing a deeper understanding of what significance their art holds to them. As one of the longest running and most recognizable names in Canadian Grindcore, FUCK THE FACTS continue to deliver their brand of “Bastardized Grindcore” with no end in sight.

Kelowna Death Metal Architects GOMORRAH ‘The Haruspex’ Exclusive Album Premiere via Bravewords.com

New Album ‘The Haruspex’ Due Out Jan 15th

L-R: Gomorrah Current Line Up | Jeff Bryan (Vocals) | Bowen Matheson (Guitars) |*Not shown* Casey Long-Read (Drums) | – Photo Credit – Sheldon Dent – http://www.sheldondent.com

Kelowna, BC’s leading death metal architects GOMORRAH has teamed up with Bravewords.com for the exclusive premiere of their upcoming album ‘The Haruspex’ due out on Jan 15, 2016 via Test Your Metal Records to follow up their 2013 debut album ‘Perception’, which is available for pre-order here.

Guitarist Bowen Matheson comments on the album:

“Jeff Bryan and I recorded the album at my home here in the Okanagan Valley, and we did the absolute majority of the writing in the pre-production and production stages. So much of the material had existed from several years ago, but was completely overhauled and reworked several times to end up in these tracks. We weren’t afraid to try things out and work over several revisions, or to take our hands off of a few of the songs that we felt very comfortable with after only the first revision. Jeff wrote the lyrics for the tracks in less than two months, and a lot of them were written and finalized in the vocal tracking stage, in front of the microphone.
We weren’t afraid to enable our music with production techniques. Many reviews have figured that we used samples or synthesizers in the songs, however the reality is that all of these droning noises, stutters, and otherwise ‘industrial’ sounds are actually either electric guitar or bass guitar, and abusing these instruments in front of their amplifiers with only two guitar effect pedals. The rest of these noises you hear are the interaction with the instrument and their environment.
We then delivered all of the tracks to Stuart McKillop of Rain City Recorders for mixing, and he blew us away. It didn’t take him long at all to catch onto what we were going for, and his consistency from one track to the next brought the tracks to the highest musical apex they could reach. Brad Boatright of Audiosiege handled the mastering, and he made certain that the product was of the outstanding final production quality for us. Brad has really yielded an outstanding quality for so many other abrasive sub-genres of metal and hardcore and he delivered that exact pinnacle of quality for us on this record as well.” – Bowen Matheson

About:

GOMORRAH, originally formed in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia as a black metal outfit in 2006, has now grown into an assaulting death metal band – ready to unleash their boundary-pushing extreme sound on their second full-length album. The forthcoming album ‘The Haruspex’ is to be released on January 15, 2016 on Canadian label Test Your Metal Records.

“We have stepped up the quality of everything: the pre production, writing, structuring, lyrics, performances, mix and master have all been improved. The combination of those improvements translates to a major difference between our previous recordings, and the single “A Disaster’s Nightmare” – as well as our forthcoming full-length ‘The Haruspex’. Improvement, through effort and time.” Comments guitarist Bowen Matheson.

Their name is associated with a historical reference to a city mentioned in the Book of Genesis, the Qur’an and Hadith, the Torah, and the New Testament. The bands music conveys a claustrophobic animosity, through punishing guitar work, high-speed drumming, and guttural vocals. The lyrics provide an accessible gateway into the stories told in each song.
Gomorrah has shared the stage with Suffocation, Cryptopsy, Archspire, Ancients, Striker, Origin, Beyond Creation, King Parrot, Ninjaspy, KenMode, Bison BC, The Agonist, Fuck The Facts, The Order of Chaos, Slumlord, and Fall City Fall.

About:

Power thrash champions SANKTUARY hail from the harsh and blisteringly cold of the deep far North of Canada’s Yukon Territory situating themselves in the city of Whitehorse (pretty far north, like the Siberia of Canada eh!). They have been trekking across the country for the past 6 years to bring their fierce and dynamic high speed riffs, catchy hooks, and belted out lyrics to the metal crowds.

A collective vision that began in high school with a group of like-minded teens fed up with the constraints of mainstream music who wanted to emulate the lifestyles of their favourite bands. Their straight-forward, no-bullshit attitudes shape their signature brand of heavy metal, which has led them to release the full length, 2013’s ‘Something Fierce’ that reached #19 on the national college radio loud charts, 2011’s ‘Tundrastruck’ split with Nova Scotia’s Black Moor and Montreal’s Metallian plus two EPs 2010’s ‘Black Magic’ and 2009’s self-titled.

Members of the band write harmoniously, basing each song off of a key riff from either Alan Binger (vocals and guitar), Glen Emond (guitar), or Cole Hume (bass), and then Anders Grasholm (drums) works his magic on the rhythm of each tune.

2016 see the band’s return with their sophomore album ‘Winter’s Doom’ set for release on January 22nd, 2016. The album features seven killer high speed, breakneck thrash metal tracks inspired by the Yukon’s far North they call home along with other issues such as politics, technology, etc..

“In the title track and album cover we portray ourselves as heavy metal warriors thriving in a habitat where most would perish instantaneously. That’s our homeland, the Yukon.” comments the band.

Stay tuned for what Sanktuary has to offer for fans! Visit their Facebook page for more details at www.facebook.com/sanktuarymetal.

  • · Evertrapped

The ten track offering which spans an unrelenting fifty three minutes, is an intense and at times brutal offering of technical edged Melodic Death Metal, so draw all your needed breath during the two minute intro, intriguingly titled ‘[…] ‘ because that moment of haunting “Oooo’s” and military drum beats that build with punchy riffs and end on frantic screams will be your only chance – from here in it’s a full on assault.

Martriden – Cold And The Silence (2015)

Release Date: November 28, 2015

For fans of Dissection, Enslaved, Opeth, In Flames, Mastodon, Gojira, Morbid Angel, Decapitated

Bandcamp | iTunes | Amazon | Google Play | CD Baby

“Despite the five year gap between releases, though (including the departure of the band’s long-time main vocalist Michael Cook), Cold and the Silence still feels like a direct continuation/expansion of the darkly progressive, defiantly blackened vibes embodied on 2010’s Encounter the Monolith, albeit one which (if the artwork didn’t already clue you in) takes some significant steps in a more overtly prog-tinged and enigmatically indulgent direction than ever before.” – No Clean Singing
“the return of the perpetually under-rated Martriden holds high everything that the band has accomplished to date and continues them forward in their evolution. The blackened death backbone is ever-present, but with even more experimentation and progressive tones to cast the band into a league of their own.” – Dead Rhetoric

“Martriden excels at blasting death metal, but ferocity is just one weapon in its arsenal.  Acoustic instruments beautify “Ascension Part 2” and the graceful, Opeth-like finale to “A Season in Hell,” – Prefix Mag

“Martriden’s greatest strength is the impeccable craft of its arrangements” – Prefix Mag

“With The Unsettling Dark, Martriden have created a surprisingly memorable extreme metal album, and have established themselves as a force within the genre” – Teeth of The Divine

“Montana’s Martriden is one of the most impressive new metal bands you will hear. Combining a mix of extreme, doom and progressive, the band’s self-titled EP is a nice appetizer” – Live Metal

“Whether it’s the solemn resignation evident in the clean-sung refrain of “The Grey” or the mournful melodic passages present in grandiose closer “Consequence”, each of these sections serves to add yet another impressive string to the band’s bow.” – No Clean Singing

“A debut EP that is testament to all that is visionary, powerful and exciting about extreme metal” – Kerrang!

“Martriden’s impressive debut EP is firmly in the mainstream tradition of the best Scandinavian bands from Bathory onwards.”  – Metal Hammer

Martriden are an all-American nightmare producing blackened death metal with progressive and symphonic highlights that sound straight from the depths of hell. Established in 2005 in their home state of Montana, USA and now residing in Denver, CO. The band’s name is derived from the Scandinavian word “Maradraum” meaning nightmare. The name is also associated with various folklore of a malignant female wraith who causes what is now known as sleep paralysis.

Their sinister arrangement of black and death metal is influenced by their European counterparts while maintaining distinctly, unapologetic American style. The band draws inspiration from greats like Opeth, Behemoth, and Bloodbath, while crafting their own symphonic elements. Martriden are known for writing soaring tracks courtesy of Shane Howard writing thick guitar riffs paired with his brother Kyle’s keyboard and acid gargling vocals. Will Thackeray wraps up each song tightly around his dark guitar riffs for the perfect balance of melody and heaviness. Shane currently records and engineers albums in his Sawn and Quartered Studio and does recording collaborations with Dave Otero at Denver’s Flatline Audio Studios.  He has been involved in the recordings of Wayfarer, Satan’s Host, Khemmis, and the last two Cattle Decapitation recordings.

Following successful US tour dates with the mighty EMPEROR, as well as the release of their 2010 ‘Encounter The Monolith’, 2007’s ‘The Unsettling Dark’ via Candlelight Records and 2006’s self-titled EP via SOAR, the band has released their most anticipated album to date: “Cold And The Silence” on November 28th, 2015. Their release is a seven track, full-length album, which compromises nothing in terms of production and depth of story. The album deals with life in general with each song telling a story and themes about the insignificance of human life compared to the vast entirety of the universe.
Shared the stage with:
Emperor, Cephalic Carnage, Abysmal Dawn, , Macabre, Allegaeon, Cryogen, Warbeast
List of Tours:
2011 – Goat Roast Metal Fest – 2011?
2009 – Unsettling Dark Tour 2009

About:

Drawing on the diverse wisdom and sound of the ancient world, their debut album “Incantations Through the Gates of Irkalla” was released on December 20, 2015 via Satanath Records (Russia), Murdher Records (Italy) plus Darzamadicus Records (Macedonia). The music expresses the Ancient Mesopotamian themes/ alien theories exploring the forgotten paths of history, extracting unknown lore and threads of truth.

“The album is a mural of epics from Egypt and Mesopotamia. It tells stories of belief, warfare, men and Gods.” comments Jerred Houseman.

An epic soundscape of exotic, monstrous visions and elusive melodies that haunt like a half-remembered dream. Akhenaten’s flourishing sound is rooted in blackened death metal, suffused with the exotic instrumentation and rhythmic structures of the ancient Near and Middle East. Sharing the exclusive characteristics of bands such as Al-Namrood, Narjahanam, Melechesh and Kartikeya, Akhenaten whispers to the most remote regions of primal memory.

Melodic Math Metal LIKE ANIMALS Post New Lyric Video ‘Caterwaul’; New EP ‘Feral’ Out Jan 22

Orillia, ON’s deviant melodic math metallers LIKE ANIMALS have posted a new lyric video for their track ‘Caterwaul’ in support of their upcoming EP ‘Feral’ due out on January 22nd to follow their previous animal-themed EPs ‘Sweet Whispers, Plagued Ears’, ‘The Undertoad’ and ‘The Wild’. Like a wild animal each member maintains a sense of chaos through their arpeggio guitar and bass sections, unorthodox drums peppered with dynamic changes, and finally tempered by the wavering vocals soaring just slightly above the instrumentals both in tone and feeling. Lyrics contend with themes such as: self-doubt, lack of self-worth, depression, anxiety, and the like. The beasts within the band each perform vocal duties a sound akin to a coyote-esque choir featuring Jamie Haffenden on guitar and lead vocals, Will Tennant  on drums and Myke Caouette on bass.

“We wanted to release Caterwaul next simply because it sort of stands out on its own on the album. It has many style changes and really takes an unexpected turn in the second half of the song. This song is all about mood” comments drummer Will Tennant.

About:

Breaking free of the constricting chains of modern music, Orillia, ON’s LIKE ANIMALS are busy creating their own uninhibited style of deviant math-metal graced with emotionally-charged vocals.

Their name is synonymous with their song-writing and attitude, where they are part of a pack, but still remain hungry and solitary, like a stray animal. Their 400-show track record over the years reveals their dedication to their craft having shared the stage with such bands as Fuck The Facts, Dog Fashion Disco, Adrenechrome, Downtown Brown, Scale The Summit, Polkadot Cadaver, Teethmarks and many more.

With previous animal-themed EPs in tow (‘Sweet Whispers, Plagued Ears’, ‘The Undertoad’, ‘The Wild’) and their new release called ‘Feral’ due out on January 22nd, 2016, the band is constantly working to create a continuously more mature and higher caliber sound. The group hunts and writes as a unit by drafting and evolving each song with each giving their own input.
