Ongelooflijk.

STRIKER Post Guitar Lesson For ‘Too Late’ via GuitarWorld; Win Edmonton Music Prize
New Album ‘Stand In The Fire’ Out Feb 5th
CD Launch Shows – Jan 22 Edmonton | Jan 23 Calgary

Set to unleash their new album ‘Stand In The Fire’ via their own Record Breaking Records label on February 5, 2016, Canadian new wave metallers STRIKER have been awarded this year’s Edmonton Music Prize for their 2014 release ‘City of Gold’. The prize was sponsored by the City of Edmonton through the Edmonton Arts Council and administered by Alberta Music (the Alberta Music Industry Association). The music prize honours a superior work of music as well as outstanding accomplishments over the past 18 months. A panel of judges first selected a shortlist of eight artists and albums, then whittled it down to three finalists, one being STRIKER.
Guitarist Tim Brown commented on the win:
“This prize means a lot to us, we work really hard to go out and tour and release new music, and the support from the Edmonton Arts Council and Alberta Music really helps keep us alive on the road. We really appreciate that these organizations can put their confidence in us to go out and promote Alberta music across the globe, and we think our new album “Stand in the Fire” is really going to turn some heads. Thanks again to everyone who supported us!”.
‘Stand In The Fire’ is STRIKER‘s most uncompromising record to date. A record packed with incredible riffs and colossal anthems, all laced together with epic harmonies. Inspired by legendary bands like Iron Maiden, Striker wears their hearts firmly on their battle jackets, soaking up the power and influence of classic rock and metal.
The band; Dan Clearly (vocals) Tim Brown (lead/rhythm guitars) William Wallace (bass) Adam Brown (drums) recorded the album themselves with the help of Randy Black (who filled in on drums while Adam was away…) and mixing genius Frederik Nordstrom (Bring Me The Horizon, In Flames, Opeth) giving them not only the time and space needed but the freedom to set up the release direct to fans worldwide.
The band’s current single ‘Too Late’ is now streaming here along with a newly posted guitar lesson video on GuitarWorld.com here.
“In this guitar lesson, I’ll teach you how to play our new song “Too Late” off of our upcoming album “Stand in the Fire”, out February 5, 2016. This song is full of classic 80’s metal tricks, like using the push (or syncopation) in your rhythm playing, using broken chords over a changing background riff, and last but not least, all of the epic shred and tapping to melt your fingers on. Though simple on first listen, there are lots of complex parts that can increase the difficulty and challenge that will make this song fun for all levels of guitarist to play.” says guitarist Tim Brown.

In additional news, STRIKER will be performing CD launch shows in their hometown of Edmonton on January 22nd along with Calgary the following day on January 23rd.
The launch shows will also be the band’s kick off concerts for their European tour with Primal Fear beginning in Barcelona, Spain on February 5th.

Canadian Neo-Rock Nerds Double Experience Reveal New Album Details For ‘Unsaved Progress’
Launch Pre-Order

This spring, Canadian neo-rock nerds Double Experience are coming back with their third album entitled “Unsaved Progress”. The Ottawa-based trio are taking the next step from their previous album – initially released exclusively on collectible trading cards – by utilizing classic video-game inspired artwork and packaging.
Says vocalist Ian Nichols, “Imagine an old Sega game with an audio disc inside instead. Actually, if I had been raised on a video game this exciting with a soundtrack that sounded like this, I probably would have turned out a lot cooler than I am now.”
Pre-orders are now available at the band’s merch store. A deluxe edition of the album – boasting two unreleased songs, two acoustic remixes, merch discount codes, studio footage and a brand new trading card – is also available for the fastidious Double Experience collector.
The album was brought to life with the help of Al Jacob and Kit Walters (HE IS LEGEND) at Warrior Sound in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Prior to the creation of “Unsaved Progress”, Double Experience were busy performing across 15 countries, playing everywhere from video game museums to tattoo conventions as well as showcases at Canadian Music Week and Indie Week Canada. Their adventures have been supported by international radio, festivals and television alike, culminating with an entire nerd-rock exposé and performance on Global TV in Canada.
“Unsaved Progress” will be released on April 8, 2016 via their own label Colfax Rock.

0 RAM Zine – Like Animals – Feral (EP)
If you took the riffs of Dillinger Escape Plan and blended them with alternative rock, you’d be getting close to experiencing Like Animals….write good music that isn’t afraid to fuck with the rules and that is always a good thing. Feral is a five track EP that has more ideas in its running time than many other bands manage in sprawling, bloated and self-indulgent two-hour long epics. On songs like ‘Caterwaul’, they veer from guitar solo screeching to measured and composed riffing. It’s exciting and it is different and whatever else you think about it, that is always going to be worthy of respect.

No Echo – Will Tennant (Like Animals) on Miss Machine
My favorite album comes from a band who completely changed the way I viewed music. I came across The Dillinger Escape Plan in 1999, and everything I thought I knew about writing music was thrown out the window.
