Exclaim! Streaming STRIKER New Album ‘Stand In The Fire’ Due Out Feb 5th

Recently awarded this year’s Edmonton Music Prize for their 2014 release‘City of Gold’, Canadian new wave metallers STRIKER are gearing up for the release of their new album ‘Stand In The Fire’ via their own Record Breaking Records label on February 5, 2016. Teaming with Exclaim, the band is proud to present the Canadian premiere and full album stream for ‘Stand In The Fire’ before its official release.

STRIKER comments on the album:

“We released Stand in the Fire on our own, with no one to tell us what to do. We broke all the rules and wrote our own, and this album is all about perseverance and going out there and getting shit done. We crossed all the lines we could find and gladly jumped outside of typical genre limits. We wanted something new and fresh, and no one could hold us back this time. We hope you enjoy the new album, it’s 100% pure Striker”

‘Stand In The Fire’ is STRIKER‘s most uncompromising record to date. A record packed with incredible riffs and colossal anthems, all laced together with epic harmonies. Inspired by legendary bands like Iron Maiden, Striker wears their hearts firmly on their battle jackets, soaking up the power and influence of classic rock and metal.

The band; Dan Clearly (vocals) Tim Brown (lead/rhythm guitars) William Wallace (bass) Adam Brown (drums) recorded the album themselves with the help of Randy Black (who filled in on drums while Adam was away…) and mixing genius Frederik Nordstrom (Bring Me The Horizon, In Flames, Opeth) giving them not only the time and space needed but the freedom to set up the release direct to fans worldwide.

The band’s first single and music video ‘Too Late’ is streaming here along with a newly posted guitar lesson video on GuitarWorld.com here.

0 Power of Metal – Akhenaten – Incantations Through the Gates of Irkalla

  • February 1, 2016
  • by Asher
  • · Akhenaten

It is obvious, to me at least, that the Housemans have understood the nature of the epic. They know how to make the big sound, how to let variation of tempo and solid heaviness build the majesty in music only classical and metal music are capable of. They intertwine Middle Eastern sounds with blackened death metal, and there are certainly killer grooves in this.

0 Brutalism – Adrenechrome – Tales From Adrenechrome

  • · Adrenechrome

Whereas their first effort (“Hideous Appetites”) had a touch of thrash in it, this second release is more down the Mastodon/Baroness path and a touch more musical in terms of being busy on the fretboard. Vocally there are some nice melodies and ‘Lockstep’ but more so ‘Black Brubeck’ highlights this, along with the obvious thoughtfulness behind the varied arrangements.

0 Metal Underground Austria – GOMORRAH – The Haruspex (Test Your Metal Records)

  • · Gomorrah

0 Heavy Metal Time Machine – RHINE – An Outsider

  • · Rhine

Best-aimed at those who love extreme metal with progressive tendencies, “An Outsider” is a release that should bring Rhine new fans and label interest. In other words, “An Outsider” is one album that will be on (heavy) rotation in the weeks to come!

0 Rock Freaks – Fuck The Facts – Desire Will Rot (Noise Salvation)

  • February 1, 2016
  • by Asher
  • · Fuck The Facts

“Desire Will Rot” is an incredible display of grindcore brutality. It is a raw, dirty and ferocious album that will affect and challenge the listener with its many changes in tempo and styles. These switches never feel forced or unnatural, and the album flows excellently together into one amazing package from Fuck The Facts. This album should definitely not be missed.

2016 Edition
October 22, 2016
Rendezvous Pub, Edmonton
10+ bands
Tickets range from $30 to $40

Edmonton, AB based Black Mourning Light Metal Festival, a celebration of black, doom, and dark death metal is proud to announce after a successful debut during Halloween 2015 that they will be returning for a 2016 edition set for October 22nd. The onslaught will be held at the Rendezvous Pub with a lineup of bands from across Western Canada all in the vein of black and doom metal along with select death styles.
