Farmageddon Open Air Launch Go Fund Me For 2018 Edition

One of Western Canada’s loudest outdoor metal festivals Farmageddon Open Air organized by Prairie Fire Events Ltd. has launched a Go Fund Me campaign in support of their next event to be held in 2018. Prairie Fire Events Ltd. organized last year’s 2015 fest that saw headliners Grim Reaper from the UK, American bands Pallbearer and Incantation plus Canadian bands Into Eternity and Archspire along with many more from Western Canada metal scene for its third edition in Ryley, AB (80 KM East of Edmonton) from June 11-14. Plus Earlier this year, Prairie Events Ltd. held their first indoor metal fest and conference, ShrEdmonton with headliners Dying Fetus, Acacia Strain, Jungle Rot, Black Crown Initiate, Goatwhore, Finnish power metallers Thunderstone along with some of Western Canada’s best including Disciples of Power, Planet Eater, Scythia, Tylor Dory Trio, Every Hour Kills among many more.

Main coordinator Prairie Fire Events Ltd. Tyson Travnik issued the following statement along with a video explaining the Go Fund Me campaign for Farmageddon 2018 that will run until 2019.

“Greetings, metal family!

By now, I’m sure most are aware that Praire Fire Events Ltd. is the not-for-profit incorporation responsible for forming the Farmageddon Open Air and Shredmonton metal festivals in the Edmonton, AB area. We are proud to bring these to you and have heard nothing, but great feedback since we started the first Farmageddon in 2013.

For our fifth festival, we are planning to bring you something HUGE in 2018. We are looking to dwarf anything we’ve done to date. It will take at least 2 years to fund raise for the event, apply for needed grants, etc, which we have already started to do. We are proud to host these events for the Canadian metal community and want to continue to do so.

That said, we are unfortunately struggling from a large financial hit due to the growing pains from the past few years, specifically Farmageddon Open Air 2015. A lot of variables came into play with the foul weather being a large part of it. This resulted in a large debt with one of our main investors. With deadlines set for payments and the downturn in the economy and job markets affecting us personally, we are struggling to make sure we don’t fall short of our payment deadlines.

We have quite a few fundraisers in the works over the next few months with some that require time to set up and promote properly. With this go-fund-me campaign, we are reaching out towards everyone that can help contribute to try to bring us back out of debt as fast as possible so we can start forming the backbone for the 2018 festival.

Every little bit helps, and goes a long way. We don’t forget our supporters, and you will be on top of our minds when it comes time to launch our next event. We want to bring western Canada a festival that will make the central Alberta heavy metal culture known worldwide for its professionalism, sense of community and belonging, and its rapport.

If you have never been to one of our festivals, (and even if you have), I encourage you to check out the Farmageddon Open Air 2015 promo video, brought to you by Prairie Fire Events Ltd. and Fade Back Productions. It’s a great demonstration of the caliber of events that we are proud to host.
Enjoy!
Cheers, and thank you for any and all your help!

Tyson Travnik
President
Prairie Fire Events Ltd.”

About ShrEdmonton:
www.shredmonton.com

ShrEdmonton featured over 20 bands over the course of 3 days from May 4-6 at The Starlite Room and The Brixx Bar and Grill (same building), as well as a multi-room industry based conference located at the Shaw Conference Center. The full line up consisted of an ultra heavy hitting bill that included headliners Dying Fetus, Acacia Strain, Jungle Rot, Black Crown Initiate, Goatwhore, Finnish power metallers Thunderstone along with some of Western Canada’s best including Disciples of Power, Planet Eater, Scythia, Tylor Dory Trio, Every Hour Kills among many more! Plus there were clinics by Tylor Dory (Tylor Dory Trio) and panels at the Shaw Conference Center on recording, photography, video production, publicity, media relations, journalism, and concert promotion / talent buying for festivals / venues with music industry professionals from across Canada (full conference schedule and list of industry reps here).

About Farmageddon Open Air:
www.farmageddon.ca

Farmageddon Open- Air was conceived in 2012 by Tyson Travnik whom is recognized in the Alberta metal scene through sound engineering duties and promotional services. After noticing the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise, Travnik wanted to re-create the intimate setting and host a festival with no internal borders in the Edmonton area.

After three very successful years, Farmageddon Open Air has proven to be one of the most prestigious metal open-air festivals in Canada with quality production that has been highly regarded by bands and patrons alike. The festival falls into a special category with Travnik setting goals of bringing in top-shelf bands that rarely, if ever play Canada. The costs of doing so are reflected in the ticket price with maximum attendance numbers not being something on the agenda. Keeping an intimate setting between the bands and their fans along with growth of the metal sub-culture to aid in promoting some of the hardest working bands in the country is at the forefront of Farmageddon’s priority.

Each year, the festival has hosted over 30 bands, with the request reaching as far as Europe and Asia. Farmageddon prides itself in only selecting the bands that the organizers feel have proven themselves worthy of the festival. This is not based on show attendance figures, but rather by judging the work ethic of the band throughout the previous years.

2015 Line Up included:
Grim Reaper, Pallbearer, Incantation, Archspire, Into Eternity, Aggression, Xul, The Order Of Chaos, Sleeping in traffic , Kyoktys, Altars Of Grief, Idolatry, Villanizer, Cellardor, Tyrant, With Malice, Leave The Living, Cryptic Enslavement, My Own Chaos, Viathyn, Samandriel, Noire, Naraka, Valyria, Ides Of Winter, Odinfist, False Flag, Gatekeeper

0 Damnation Magazine – Sludgehammer – The Fallen Sun

  • June 15, 2016
  • by Asher
  • · Sludgehammer

This album contains 11 tracks that left me incredibly impressed. Recorded and mixed by guitarist Tyler Williams, the quality alone gets a thumbs up from me. Featuring superior guitar and bass work and freakishly amazing drum work, the vocals are the icing on the cake that leaves me desiring another piece. As a musician myself, I can understand the difficulty level in every instrument that’s being played, which earns a second thumbs up from me as it is far from easy. The guitars are without a doubt my favorite part of this album as they seem to tell a story in themselves. Some tracks that stand out to me are “The Black Abyss”, “Revolting” and “Utopian”. They contain both superb instrumental work and nostalgic feeling vocals that leave me wanting to hear it over and over again. It is no question that these guys are exceptionally talented and all contribute something notable to the album.

0 Dead Rhetoric – Celestial Ruin – Pandora (EP)

  • · Celestial Ruin

This Canadian act is sure to please a wide swath of fans on the melodic front…a strong EP that leaves the listener wanting just one or two more tracks. With the right push, Celestial Ruin should have little difficulty convincing the audiences of bands like Within Temptation, Nightwish, or even Evanescence.

As The Crow Flies is the debut album from A Rebel Few, and what a debut album it is. Each song are jammed with guitar riffs and licks some with higher energy than others but they still get the job done. The heavy Rock vocals from Chris Raposo right onto the excitement and energy from Guitars and Drums throughout the album.

New Noise Mag Premiere Montreal Prog Metal FRACTAL CYPHER ‘Lost’

Reveal Album Artwork and Track Listing For ‘The Human Paradox’

Teaming up with New Noise Magazine, Montreal prog metallers FRACTAL CYPHER are giving fans a taste of what’s to come with the premiere of their second single ‘Lost’ off their upcoming debut album ‘The Human Paradox’ set for a release on September 7th. The album is produced by Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, The Agonist, Beyond Creation, Neuraxis) and will be comprised of 9 songs, each hand picked and strategically chosen to best represent the living, breathing entity that is FRACTAL CYPHER.

“This track is the perfect balance between heaviness and softness, and it’s a track that truly unleashes the full sound of the band. I’d say it’s the most representative song of the record in terms of sound, composition and arrangements. It’s a song we enjoy to play and I think people will feel the same as we do. Play it loud!” comments vocalist Simon Lavoie.

To listen to ‘Lost’, please visit the following link:http://newnoisemagazine.com/song-premiere-fractal-cypher-lost/

FRACTAL CYPHER exists to captivate audiences with progressive instrumentals that cut through the mesmerizing vocals yet somehow evolving; each listen provides a new perspective. Straight out of the heart of Canada’s metal scene, these Montreal metallers constantly shift their compositions with seamless transitions and theatrical interludes to keep audiences on their toes. Since 2014, ex-Far From Reality members Simon Lavoie (vocals), Ludovick Daoust (keyboard), and Vincent Bruneau (guitar) have dedicated themselves to FRACTAL CYPHER.

The powerful quintet is just as versatile in their music as they are in their musical interests, darting between djent, death metal, and classic rock. Each song acts of their own volition almost taking control of the members and shaping a personality and energy not unlike a living entity. Ludovick is at the helm of songwriting, calculating and unlocking each melody and becoming the voice for each piece.
