Every once in a while, you’ll be a bit blindsided by an album that seemingly comes out of nowhere. Ages Unsung, the second effort from Canadian melodeath/metalcore outfit Chariots of the Gods, is one such album. A record full of well conceived, deftly decorated melodic metal, it is hopefully the start of a bright future for the five piece band.

0 MetalCrypt – Medevil – Conductos of Storms
Riding out of the cold wastes of western Canada on warhorses of steel comes Medevil with their amazing, self-released debut album Conductor of Storms. Bruising Traditional Heavy Metal is what these guys play and they play it well. Monstrous riffs and pounding, organic drums underscore the powerful vocals and intricate solos. The band has a taste for things epic, so no love songs or cliché odes to the Metal lifestyle here.

this is a pretty solid debut. “Of Prometheus and the Sacred Flame,” “War of the Gods,” and “New World” all have some really killer hooks and great vocals that pulled me into it.
