After a small hiatus and line up change, the quintet return in 2016 full force ready to follow up their 2013 debut album ‘Tides of War’ that was produced by music legend Glen Robinson (Queensryche, Gwar, Annihilator). Creating a kickstarter / pre-order campaign (thank you video), COTG surpassed their goal of $3,000 and recorded‘Ages Unsung’ at The Grid with legendary Montreal producer Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, The Agonist, Beyond Creation, Neuraxis).

About:
Blitzing out of Canada’s capital with their punishing hard-rock rooted in heavy metal, Chariots of the Gods has-been on one sole assignment since 2007: shredding endlessly in a neighborhood near you.
The five-piece band gave birth to their first EP “Reverence” in 2010. Their first full length album, “Tides of War”, was produced by music legend Glen Robinson (Queensryche, Gwar, Annihilator) in 2013.
In 2014, the band went on their first international tour in Cuba and were the first Canadian metal band to do so. Chariots of the Gods are now set to storm the world with the musical assault that is their latest masterpiece: “Ages Unsung”.

International touring act ANNIHILATOR will perform a blistering 75 minute set, their first show in Western Canada since 1993. After a successful 2016 line up that included headliners Beyond Creation, Dayglo Abortions, Unleash The Archers, Archspire, Rivers of Nihil, The Zenith Passage and more. ARMSTRONG METAL FEST announces they are now taking submissions for their 2017 edition held in Armstrong, BC at the Hassen Arena. Don’t worry about sending an EPK right off the start! They are great to have, but not for AMF’s initial submission; once a band is on the roster an EPK may be requested for media outlets.
Last year AMF had 162 band submissions!
69.4% of the total band line up for AMF 2016 was made of bands that had placed a band submission.
58.3% of AMF 2016’s line up were bands that had never played the festival before.

Taking influence from Europe’s music festival circuit, Armstrong Metal Fest is a heavy metal celebration that encourages metal heads from across Canada and the globe to mosh and camp with the backdrop of great outdoors of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. What started as a backyard party in 2009 with nothing but eleven local metal bands such as Terrifier, Xul and Odinfist to name a few, has grown into a a huge success admired by the Western Canadian Metal scene. 2016 was the eighth year of the festival and was its largest year for music and attendance. Friday, October 21 will be headlined by Toronto’s Panzerfaust, alongside Montreal’s Erimha, and Edmonton’s Idolatry. Display of Decay (Edmonton), the night’s only death metal band, Calgary’s Vile Insignia and Hive will set the tone. Idolatry and Vile Insignia are the only returning bands from Black Mourning Light 2015.
Saturday, October 22 will see Portland, Oregon’s UADA headline with support from Manitou Spring, Colorado’s Helleborus and Vancouver’s Wormwitch, Norilsk (Gatineau, QC), Cell (Winnipeg), Holocaust Lord (Victoria), Nachtterror (Regina), Dethgod (Calgary), Ye Goat-Herd Gods (Calgary) and Hunted By Ravens (Red Deer) will bring a mix of black, death, and doom to set that night’s tone.
Sunday morning, October 23 will not feature bands performing, but rather bands eating. Sunday will be reserved for The Mourning After, the VIP exclusive breakfast with all the bands.

About BML:
Black Mourning Light Metal Festival is the black metal and doom festival founded by Dustin Ekman of Crown of Viserys. Created to fill a void in Edmonton’s black and doom scene.
After a successful debut during Halloween 2015, Black Mourning Light Festival returns for a 2016 edition set from October 21st-23rd. The onslaught will be held at the Rendezvous Pub with a lineup of bands from across Western Canada all in the vein of black and doom metal along with select death styles. Last year’s line up included 11 bands from three provinces such as headliner Idolatry (Edmonton), Altars of Grief (Regina), Noire (Winnipeg), Ossific (Winnipeg), Vile Insignia (Calgary) and more.
Those that attended the 2015 inaugural ritual will not be disappointed by 2016, as they can expect a different while similar experience to that event. Due to the proximity of Samhain, costume prizes will still be awarded to those who wish to dress up early and celebrate the season.

After several tours of the USA and Europe, Ottawa’s nerd-rock trio DOUBLE EXPERIENCE are returning for their first cross-Canada tour since 2014. The band will be performing songs off their third full-length, “Unsaved Progress”, including their recent single “The Glimmer Shot”; a Destiny-themed rock anthem, which earned them accolades from the creators of the video game itself.
For the first time, Canadian fans will be treated to DOUBLE EXPERIENCE‘s larger-than-life show; an event that begins before the band even takes the stage.
“On our last UK tour, we coordinated everything from Pokemon duels on Game Boys with our fans, Pokemon-themed drink specials, cosplay contests, and more,” explains vocalist Ian Nichols. “This fall, we’re embracing Pokemon GO and incorporating aspects of that into what happens offstage.”

DOUBLE EXPERIENCE’s third studio album entitled “Unsaved Progress” was released on April 8th via their label Colfax Music. Taking the next step from their previous album – initially released exclusively on collectible trading cards, the band utilizes classic video-game inspired artwork and packaging. The album was brought to life with the help of Al Jacob and Kit Walters (HE IS LEGEND) at Warrior Sound in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Prior to the creation of “Unsaved Progress”, Double Experience were busy performing across 15 countries, playing everywhere from video game museums to tattoo conventions as well as showcases at Canadian Music Week and Indie Week Canada. Their adventures have been supported by international radio, festivals and television alike, culminating with an entire nerd-rock exposé and performance on Global TV in Canada.

I miss that feeling in many present day heavy metal albums. Classics like ‘Ride The Lightning’, ‘Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying’, ‘Painkiller’ or ‘Breaker’ were no mere collection of songs but a musical unity.
