Niagara Falls’ VARIUS Release Lyric Video For Diverse And Heavy “Lament of Dissonance”

New EP “Concordance” Out Now!

“Concordance” is the latest EP from Canadian melodic death metal act Varius and now, their single “Lament of Dissonance” has a lyric video to go with it. Varius (various in Latin) pride themselves on being diverse, experimental, and constantly challenging the constraints of genres.  This track was originally written as piano parts by drummer Vlad Prokhorov and then reworked for guitar and bass.

This song has the most traditional chorus part of any Varius song to date and incorporates a little bit of clean backing vocals. After the first few verses, the song gives way into even more crushing riffs and a strong guitar solo. The end of the song transitions into one of their signature Varius experimental moments, which takes the listener through a jazzy outro. Lyrically, the song describes a brilliant creative person cracking under the pressure of expectations of his audience. The band explains the premise behind the EP and further detail the track:

“We think this album represents a diverse but consistently heavy listening experience. All four songs are distinct in their approach and theme; they are almost representative of four different “subgenres” of metal. All four songs are consistently heavy and sound like they are related, as they should. We can thank our recording engineer Eddie Lucciola (414 Recordings) for the consistency in production. The song structures, riffs, and lyrics are where most of the diversity lies. The lead single, ‘Lament of Dissonance’, is both a straightforward and experimental listening experience. The song has a simple, catchy structure and some different grooves by our standards. That song also has an interesting twist at the end. “Lament of Dissonance” definitely represents both the heaviness and the diversity of ‘Concordance’.”

Varius’ open-minded and experimental approach to melodic death metal is recommended for fans of Hypocrisy, Lamb of God, and Death.

Watch and listen to “Lament of Dissonance” via its premiere on TheProgspace HERE.

“it’s full of dynamic surprises — a song that’s bombastic and brazen, savage and scintillating, mysterious and magnificent — and its name is “Concordance of the Legionfall“.” – No Clean Singing

“a surprisingly cohesive and coherent appetizer for what this multi-talented band have to offer.” – Uber Rock

“There is no doubting the talent here in terms of musicianship and it has to be said that “Concordance” is the kind of fun that sometimes goes missing from a genre that can take itself too seriously” – Metal Noise

“For their second EP Concordance, Varius decided to let each band member bring their own song in. This move lets the band step away from the rigid melodic death metal of their first EP, The Great Tribulation, and try out other genre types. Opener “Golden Crown” keeps its deathly roots in the ruinous vocals, as the song is otherwise traditional heavy metal that wouldn’t have been out of place for Manowar or Accept. Each of the four tunes on Concordance avoid hinting at any ideas of what Varius will do next, like the forceful doom in the second half of closer “Gut Shoveler.” Hearing their two EPs back-to-back is listening to a band actively transforming themselves over the course of 40 minutes. With Concordance, Varius have made a point to keep their sonic options open moving forward, as they could go anywhere from here. 4/5” – Heavy Music Headquarters

There have been quite a number of bands popping up over the course of the pandemic as people have found themselves with an abundance of time, and that is the story of Circa Arcana from Texas, USA. In the past year they have had their heads down, working away on their debut album “Bridget Viginti”, and now, those hard-hitting breakdowns, groovy melodic bits, and catchy chorus are now ready to be released upon metalcore fans around the world. They have released a video to compliment the first single off this release “Esoteric”, which the band details:

“It was the first single we released as a band. We started writing the song off of the chorus riff. That riff was something I had written about 4 years ago when I played with Frank in another local band but we never did anything with it. When we first formed Circa Arcana and were trying to start writing some songs he remembered that riff. I had to find an old phone recording to remember what he was talking about. We built the song up pretty quickly from there. It’s definitely an eerie song, lyrically touching on the topic of addiction and overcoming it.”

With two singles released already that have been gathering acclaim, Circa Arcana is starting to come into the forefront of the local scene. Formed in the summer of 2020, each of the five musicians has experience playing in other bands, so the writing process has come together rather organically. They try to always go back to the basics and to the root of their style which involves having parts that for everyone to enjoy, including heavy parts for people that like to mosh and go crazy, as well as catchy parts so people can sing to it.

Fierce and heartfelt, their lyrical themes can range from personal struggles with addiction and personal demons to stories of occult legends and disassociated dreams. The band is really driven off by topics that involve tarot magic, black magic, and the occult.

Circa Arcana is recommended for core fans especially those with an interest in Underoath, Blessthefall, and Wage War.

The music video for “Esoteric” is available to watch now on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3m9Njh9WsY

“Do you like melodic metalcore? If you do, there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy what Texas metalcore band Circa  Arcana are doing with their newest single, “Esoteric”. Formed last year during the COVID-19 pandemic, you might  not think it a good time for a new band to form, but art often flourishes during the darkest times. It’s no different for  Circa Arcana – the band is currently finishing their first EP entitled Bridget Viginti, slated for later release in 2022. A  decent comparison might be mid-period Killswitch Engage, It Dies Today, or even the underrated Diecast album  Internal Revolution, as the band’s combination of bright melodies and aggression will fit right at home to fans of that  style.” – New Fury Media

“Circa Arcana may have gotten started last year, but some of the members have been around in the El Paso for a WHILE. Their sound has compared to It Dies Today, I See Stars, Blessthefall & Howard Jones-era Killswitch Engage.” – Daniel Paulus – KLAQ 95.5 FM – El Paso, TX

Montreal, QC – December 10, 2021

Rockshots Records – Out Now! Greek Heavy Metal THIRTY FATES New Album “Circus Black”

New Music Video “Be Free” ft. Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens

Greece’s Thirty Fates have a new album “Circus Black” out now as of December 10th via Rockshots Records.

“Circus Black” is a nine-track anniversary record to celebrate the trio consisting of brothers Elias and Nick Tzintzilonis and Stelios Papakostas thirty years in heavy metal as friends and bandmates.

The full length of classic melodic heavy metal is four tracks (Indifferent People, The Edge of Destiny, Be Free, The Pretender) from their 1991 demo, two unreleased tracks from the ’80s, and three tracks from Black Fate’s 2001’s rare EP along with a brand-new song. The album is for those who truly enjoy 80’s classic heavy metal in the vein of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Queensryche, Dio, and Ozzy Osbourne. There are also guest vocals Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens and Angel Wolf Black.

For the album’s release day, Thirty Fates is sharing their latest music video “Be Free” ft. guest vocals from Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens.

“The guest appearance of Tim Ripper Owens, with crushing vocals makes the song flairs to priest alike, and we are happy he found it great. Freedom translated in different ways to each other, there are many ways to be free, but you must find the one way to be free yourself.” adds the band.

Video – https://youtu.be/h6EmV8zfGg4

The history of Thirty Fates begins in 1988 when they introduced themselves to the world in a band named Metal Invaders, which was soon changed to Black Fate. Under that moniker, they released a 4-track demo (1991), but soon after Elias (guitars) continued on to other various bands. Stelios (vocals) went on to a solo pop career releasing singles and touring all around Greece, along with forming the band Blow. Nick (drums) went on to other rock-heavy-pop bands, touring also as a freelancer and continuing on with Black Fate with four amazing musicians, where they released a self-titled EP (2001) and four full-lengths “Uncover” (2002) (Secret Port Records), “Deliverance of Soul” (2009) (Asiral), Between Visions & Lies (2014) (Ulterium Records) and “Ithaca” (2020) (Rockshots Records).

The trio of Thirty Fates explain how their reunion came to be:

“We felt the need to reform the band after so long time for our thirst of playing music together again. It came out spontaneously when we met each other five years ago, rehearsing the old staff reminiscing the good old times. Then we decided to re-record our first demo and some spare old songs, as we had all the efforts for making a record come to life. Seemed from the beginning we knew what exactly we wanted to do. Making music after so long, was a joyful ride from the past to the present & we really enjoyed it. For all our friends & loyal fans, who have followed for thirty years & also for our new friends. We hope you enjoy our music. It’s worth a listen.”

Heavy Music HQ Album Reviews: Week of December 10, 2021 – Heavy Music Headquarters w/ Sinful Ways , “The band have spent the last two years or so releasing content, slowly piecing together where they want to go. Like the title track to their first EP To Hell Tonight, there’s an attempt at loftier songwriting with closer “Pursuit.” Its grandiose guitar solo and ensuing breakdown are an excellent snapshot of the group’s evolution.” Thirty Fates Rockshots Records “This is a solid compilation that showcases a number of the band’s time periods quite effectively. It is thus a mandatory listen for those looking to delve further into Thirty Fates.” https://heavymusichq.com/heavy-music-hq-album-reviews-week-of-december-10-2021/

Hammerdrone – A Trinity Of Rage (EP Review) – CGCM Radio/Podcast “I thoroughly enjoyed the EP and all that goes with it. A great mix of prog and death metal with melody and a hint of jazz. This is the first time I personally have come across them and they sound like a band that knows exactly what they want to do and have the experience and talent to deliver. The whole thing has been mastered by Jens Bogren (Amon Amarth and Rotting Christ amongst others) in Sweden so sounds terrific. Fans of bands like Carcass, Amon Amarth and Kataklysm should dig this enormously.” https://cgcmrockradio.com/hammerdrone-a-trinity-of-rage-ep-review

Review: “Darkest Days” by Sinful Ways
…as the crows kraa an arty spoken word sets the tone as “Welcome” bursts into “Vow of the Devil“, a classic Trivium esq all out riff attack that blends elements of Thrash, Groove and Metalcore into one homogeneous seething beast accompanied by a scathing vocal attack encased in a classic Thrash bark at very much acts as a wake up call before “Bury The Hatchet” comes in swinging like a wrecking ball.

Ottawa, Canada’s Sinful Ways return in 2021 to unleash their sophomore EP “Darkest Days” on Friday, December 10th, and before it officially drops, the band has teamed up with NewFuryMedia for its full stream premiere HERE.

“Darkest Days” is a solid EP that blends melodic and thrashy elements along with three members sharing vocal duties, bassist Brad Lake doing cleans, drummer Dave Matlak doing main screams, and guitarist Frank Lahache on backing screams. The recording is an eighteen-minute exploration of war, anarchy, third world struggles, and mental health. Engaging fans with a mood-setting intro of crows, bells, and the wind, Sinful Ways lay a path into the opening track ‘Vow of the Devil’, a riffy, thrashy melodic vs. harsh experience. From there that band gets your fist-pumping with the anthemic ‘Bury The Hatchet’, which only gets you prepared for the perfectly titled ‘Manhattan’, an atomic bomb song solely written with a mosh pit in mind. To close out the EP, fans will experience ‘Pursuit’, the band’s most adventurous song that features an orchestral arrangement at the start before slamming into harmonized, sweep picking guitars.

The band adds about “Darkest Days”:

“Everyone struggles from time to time; we even recorded this EP remotely during these Covid times. We believe we finally found a way to blend our various styles and elements to create some mosh pit favourites! We want people to remember why they got into metal, the energy, the fun, and the guitars. We want them to relive the days they discover good music! From front to back, we believe this EP holds a lot of musical value.”

“Darkest Days” was produced and mixed by Cameron Dunn and mastered by Scott Middleton at Hillside Audio in Toronto. EP Artwork by Nik Paquin.

Recommended for fans of Trivium, Parkway Drive, Avenged Sevenfold, and Slipknot, “Darkest Days” is available for pre-save at https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/sinfulways/darkest-days-ep

Music Video – Bury The Hatchet –  https://youtu.be/N8gn9jR47y8

“Darkest Days” follows Sinful Ways’ debut 2019 EP “To Hell Tonight”, and 2020 stand-alone singles “Burst into Flames” plus “No Escape”.

Track Listing:
1. Welcome/Vow of the Devil (4:46)
2. Bury the Hatchet (3:40)

Edmonton, Canada’s thrash metal maniacs Tymo have a new album “The Art Of A Maniac” slated for release early next year. They have already released the first single off this record, the angry, fast punch-in-the-face “Sanity Clause”, which was the introduction to a release that is considerably more thrash-oriented than the previous “Purge & Reset” that came out in 2017.

Following up the initial single comes “Mars Attacks”, which according to the band is possibly their new anthem. It is about the film and comics of the same name; Martians annihilating the human race and taking over the Earth. Tymo explains further:

“It was the song that really got the album going! We had already written “Sanity Clause” and “The Roy Parson Project”, but they weren’t finished in time for the release of our previous album “Purge & Reset”. It is our current favorite and it’s already becoming a fan favorite live! We have always been a big fan of the films and comics, it was more than appropriate to write a song about the Martians slaughtering all of the humans! If you love old-school Exodus, you will love Mars Attacks!”

Listen to “Mars Attacks” via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

This new incarnation of Tymo boasts more technicality, faster songs, and heavier riffs, catapulting them into the forefront of the Canadian underground thrash metal scene. The 32 minute album was a group effort over the past year, where nine songs rose above the rest. Tymo is very excited to be sharing this polished result with metalheads around the world.

“The Art Of A Maniac” is due out on February 5, 2022 and is recommended for fans of Megadeth, Slayer, Lich King, Municipal Waste, and Exodus.

About:
“A golden shower of thrash metal!” Six words to sum up Tymo! A band whose attitude lives up to the title of their debut album “Purge & Reset”. Lead guitarist and vocalist Tim Tymo explains that the origin of the title is more than words; it is a statement of lost faith in humanity. “Let’s just say we have a creator or superior being. If this god gave up everything we needed to flourish and returned to see all the wars and corruption, it would want to wipe the slate clean and start over. Hence…PURGE AND RESET!

Formed in Edmonton in 2015, Tymo is comprised of Tim Tymo as the lead guitarist and vocalist, Nick Schwartz on rhythm guitar, Harlen Jacobs on bass, and Marc Durie on drums.

Tim Tymo describes the band’s sounds as “loud, angry, and explosive thrash”. Tymo has a serious mission to entertain their fans. “We love writing and performing, and we all share a common passion for thrash metal. We wanted to reference our heroes and mix up that inspiration with our own brew and see what we came up with, and here we are. We want to give people a source of inspiration and excitement!

Tymo’s debut album “Purge & Reset” was released in August of 2017 and Tymo performed shows in support of the album throughout 2018. The band returned to the studio in early 2019 to record a single entitled “Sanity Clause.” It was released in late 2019 with very positive reviews and sold-out shows! Due to Covid 19, the band spent much of 2020 in the studio recording their follow-up album to Purge & Reset!

As of 2021, Tymo performed at the Loud As Hell Festival 2021 and has finished recording their next full-on thrash album! Much faster and more aggressive than Purge & Reset. The album entitled “The Art of A Maniac” is planned to be released in 2022 and Tymo has a mission to expand its audience and dominate the world! Planning to tour Europe and many other countries.
