Toronto’s ITUS is the latest in Canadian doom featuring heavy, brooding and psychedelic tones meshed with horror-inspired sounds. They have been toiling away, working on their debut EP “Primordial” set to be released on March 13, 2020.
Atmospheric and energetic, this album is a step in a new musically direction for the duo of Brandon Lucking and Reinier Vandenbosch, and they are encouraged that the reception for their latest endeavour will be well received as they explain:
“We think that Itus could have a much wider appeal than previous efforts of ours. Songs on the EP like ‘Cloud Reader’ and ‘This Can’t Be” are much more accessible, especially with Vandenbosch’s newly developed clean singing. We think the heavier tracks will strike a nice balance with the mellower tracks on the EP as a whole.”
Two very different singles will be released from the EP, the first being the title track ‘Primordial’. Painting the mood like a classic horror creature reveal, it’s both abrasive and calm, and the accompanying music video is shot like a horror film to accentuate the brutality and dark riffage in the track. ITUS details the track:
“We chose to make this the first song we release because to us, it embodies the aspect of human savagery. Primordial uses the idea of coming out of a euphoric bliss into a hellish existence. Its lyrics comment on what forces within people work to pull society back down to chaos. This is the most aggressive song on the EP with its crisp, and aggressive guitar tones that really make it stand out from the other songs.”
Fans of Electric Wizard, Conan, and Windhand will definitely take an interest in ITUS.
The track ‘Primordial’ is available via its video premiere on The Sludgelord HERE.
Track Listing:
1. Cloud Reader (3:17)
2. Question Everything (4:16)
3. Primordial (4:13)
4. This Can’t Be (4:19)
5. The Chaplain (5:43)
EP Length: 21:50

About:
Early in 2019, ITUS was formed by Brandon Lucking (guitars) and Reinier Vandenbosch (vocals), who at the time, were in another band with a different style but looking to try something new. The result was these Ontario boys blending doom and stoner rock with crushing heavy metal passages, in a psychedelic atmosphere of horror influenced sounds.
The writing process is fairly simple for ITUS, Lucking writes the melodies as they come to him, and Vandenbosch writes the vocals and lyrics. The foundation of the lyrics always starts from personal experience, traumas, and how events in life unfold which are further imbued with influence from science fiction and horror fiction, mythology, dark philosophy, and political angst.
The soundscape of horrors that ITUS paints is enthralling already as a two-piece online project, and there are plans on the horizon to build it into a full-on touring 3 piece band delivering an energetic and abrasive live experience with a heavy, brooding ambiance.

All-Star Quintet IMONOLITH Unleash Next Single ‘Dig’ From Forthcoming Debut Album + UK/EU Headline Tour

Canadian metal powerhouse IMONOLITH are unveiling their third single ‘Dig’ in support of their highly anticipated forthcoming debut album “State of Being” due out March 27th.
With the release of their two previous singles ‘Instinct’ and ‘Hollow’, IMONOLITH have been receiving worldwide praise that has garnered them a massive amount of streams and attention from the media. Their debut album also includes two very special guest performances from Jens Kidman (Meshuggah) and Swedish vocalist Johannes Eckerström.
‘Dig’ happens to be one of the bands favourite songs on the album. It has a hypnotic pulse throughout, crushing guitar riffs and some well delivered heavy vocals from Jon Howard.
“Lyrically the song is about people who ruin their relationships with others, through their poor decisions. The point lyrically is that you can move on from this type of person, learn a lesson from the situation, let go of the negativity involved and let them deal with the shit show they’ve created. In the end, these people dig their own ‘relationship’ graves by burning bridges with others in their lives.” says drummer Ryan ‘RVP’ Van Poederooyen.
‘Dig’ is available on the following links:
YouTube: https://youtu.be/wqn7hTEOgJ4
IMONOLITH features drummer Ryan ‘RVP’ Van Poederooyen (Devin Townsend Project) guitarist Brian ‘Beav’ Wadell (Devin Townsend Project), Jon Howard (Threat Signal), guitarist Kai Huppunen (Methods of Mayhem, Noise Therapy) and Scott Whalen (Econoline Crush). A collective of heavy-hitting players at the top of their game.
The forthcoming full length “State of Being” features 10 hook-laden, riff-heavy tracks including ‘Hollow’, the debut single that made big waves for IMONOLITH straight out of the gate, racking up 216K Spotify streams in 2019. Having spent much of 2019 writing, arranging, recording and fine-tuning “State of Being”, the band worked incredibly hard to achieve their goal – to make an engaging heavy metal album.
RVP adds:
“We spent a lot of time making this record. We wanted it to be done the way we envisioned it. We didn’t cut any corners, from the songwriting right up to the album production and artwork. It’s a debut album that we’re very proud of and excited for the world to hear.”
Their debut album “State of Being” will be released on March 27th and is available for pre-order/pre-save here: https://lnk.to/stateofbeing

0 Australia’s VICTORIA K Signs To Rockshots Records For Debut Album “Essentia” Out April 2020
(contact info below)
NEWS RELEASE
Montreal, QC – February 7, 2020
For fans of Nightwish, Kamelot, Eluveitie, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation
Australia’s VICTORIA K Signs To Rockshots Records For Debut Album “Essentia” Out April 2020

Rockshots Records is proud to announce their signing of Australia’s Victoria K for the release of her debut album “Essentia” coming April 2020. The full length was produced by Lee Bradshaw and features special guest Michalina Malisz (Eluveitie).
The Melbourne singer/songwriter has made her mark on the rock and metal scene with the release of her debut single ‘Monster’ in 2016, featuring guitar work by Brett Garsed (John Farnham Band) along with her 2019 follow up track ‘Lacuna’ distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Warner Music Group (Australia) and is the lead single off the upcoming album.
The single garnered a lot of media praise and created an opportunity for Victoria K to support Swiss folk metal giants Eluveitie for their May 2019 tour date in Melbourne, a performance that had the crowd chanting for an encore.
Although the album was originally a solo project, it has now developed into the current band structure with each member bringing their own energy and experience to the collective. The band is looking forward to collaborating on future releases and is now heavily focused on the release of this debut full length in April 2020.
Victoria K adds:
“‘Essentia’ is Latin for Essence. Essence is the indispensable quality of something that determines its very nature or character. So I guess the album as a whole tries to tackle and define the very nature of humanity. In a way, I’m trying to unravel the complexity of human essence and emotion. It all hopefully leads to being struck by a moment of Sonder – therefore the realization that everyone, including strangers, has a life as complex as our own, despite our lack of awareness of it.”
Victoria K‘s talented songwriting and compositional influences include Evanescence, Within Temptation, Nightwish and Kamelot amongst other current bands in the European metal scene and her music have been likened to be a blend of these influences. Victoria K has racked up hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube with her own original creations and through featured videos alongside a number of talented musicians covering a plethora of songs. Victoria K‘s covers include Iron Maiden’s “The Trooper”, Nightwish’s “Last Ride of the Day”, Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” and Kamelot’s “Insomnia”, the latter of which received attention from the band themselves on Twitter and led to a meeting of talents when the American power metal band found themselves in Melbourne during their 2018 ‘The Shadow Theory’ Australian tour.
