About:
For 11 years running, West Metal Entertainment and Armstrong Metalfest has not only fostered the talent of hundreds of local bands but brought in well-known, international acts to the quiet, little Canadian town of Armstrong, British Columbia.
Each year up to 700 metalheads from Canada and USA descend into the picturesque Okanagan Valley and under the blistering sun they spend 3 days camping, taking in over 30 bands, participating in wrestling events and scavenger hunts and catching up with their metal family.
The festival has seen such renowned headliners as Kataklysm, Cattle Decapitation, Archspire, and Beyond Creation as well as emerging artists from across North America. At the end of the revelry, the festival disappears without a trace, leaving the landscape as pristine as it has always been.
West Metal Entertainment is a non-profit society that not only puts on Armstrong Metal Festival every year in Armstrong, B.C., but gives bands opportunities to play different venues throughout the region including all-ages shows, to encourage musical passion in kids as well as adults.

“Go Big or Stay at Home: Armstrong has that welcoming feeling for a rock show.” – The Valley Voice
“To witness such a gathering of talent is an absolute privilege, and for that fact alone, I will certainly be returning to Armstrong Metal Fest.” – Beatroute BC

“The Armstrong Metalfest is one such event and has grown from its initial, humble beginnings seven years ago to be a regular mainstay, with its south-central BC location making for a popular summertime destination for fans and bands alike.” – Decibel Mag
Named one of the out-of-town music festivals worth the trip by The Vancouver Sun
“For metalheads, this is a great vacation where groups of all sizes can enjoy their favourite musical genre in a fun, energized environment. Not to mention, the camping!” – The Permanent Rain Press

Scotland’s ATLAS : EMPIRE Sets Sail For Canadian Tour This Coming October
UK Tour Dates In November
New Music Video ‘Our Hands Part The Waves’
Signs To WormHoleDeath Records

L-R – Robert Hasebe (Bassist), Jamie Sturt (Guitar and Vocals), Steven Gillies (Guitar and Vocals)
Glasgow’s Atlas : Empire returns to Eastern Canada this October with eight gigs spanning across Ontario and Quebec followed by UK dates in November. After a busy summer of writing and European festival dates, the Scottish band is excited to come back to the homeland of their bassist Robert Hasebe and he quotes:
“Touring Canada is by far one of the most enjoyable things for Atlas : Empire. The unique challenges and rewards of touring this part of the world are what make Canadian artists and performers truly great. They are not only so wonderful to work with but also so friendly and exceptional at their craft. Canada produces so many good bands and such talented musicians that we are so fortunate and so grateful to be able to tour here regularly. Also, poutine.”
Atlas : Empire have also released a video for the track ‘Our Hands Part The Waves’, which you can view here.
The video is a continuation of the storyline presented in the video for ‘It’s All In The Reflexes’, which you can view here.
Bassist Robert Hasebe had this to say:
“This video is the natural follow up to the cliff hanger in the video for It’s All In The Reflexes. We want our viewers to know that this saga is not over. The question we asked ourselves was ‘what comes next?’. The answer was obvious. We have to dispose of the body. So, we did the natural thing. We stuffed the dismembered body in a suitcase and threw it off the scenic cliffs of Arbroath.”
This past December they released their debut album “The Stratosphere Beneath Our Feet”, which will now be re-released via WormHoleDeath Records later this year. Weaving their way between the multitudes of different genres that influence them, the trio visits the worlds of heavy progressive rock and expansive ambient shoegaze.
To date the band has released 3 EPs, “To The Astronaut…” (2012); “Somnus” (2013) and “For the Satellites” (2015) with “The Stratosphere Beneath Our Feet” as their 2018 debut full length. Atlas : Empire‘s latest album “The Stratosphere Beneath Our Feet” is available for stream and download on Bandcamp, Apple Music, and Spotify.
Hasebe delves into the concept of the album:
“The Stratosphere Beneath Our Feet’ is a concept album that explores what would happen to humanity if we became entirely reliant on technology/automation in every aspect of our lives – and more importantly, what happens when that system fails?“
For fans of Thrice, Circa Survive, Glassjaw, and At The Drive-In, Atlas : Empire can be seen live on the following dates:

BIO:
Atlas : Empire are a progressive alternative rock band, based in Glasgow, UK. Since forming in 2011, Atlas : Empire have enjoyed success both through their recordings and over several tours crossing the UK, the EU and Eastern Canada, including performing at Indieweek in Toronto.
To date the band has released 3 EPs, “To The Astronaut…” (2012); “Somnus” (2013) and “For the Satellites” (2015) with “The Stratosphere Beneath Our Feet”, an ambitious concept album set to be released in 2018.
Weaving their way between the multitudes of different genres that influence them, Atlas : Empire visits the worlds of heavy progressive rock and expansive ambient shoegaze. Exploring topics that centralize around the concept of becoming exponentially more reliant on technology and less “connected” by proxy, and the future of modern society when the system we rely on fails. With a slew of songs written and plans already for a fifth release, A : E are thrilled to be working with the team at WormHoleDeath and to push their own boundaries and expand into new territories.
