BIO:
Dizzy Mystics Soup for the Rocker’s Soul;
2 cups Psychedelic
2 cups Progressive
1 cup Hearty 70’s Metal
3 tbsp. Jazz
3 tbsp. Funk
2 tbsp. Folk
1 tbsp. Soul
A pinch of Celtic Pepper is optional
(Measurements of each ingredient are subject to change for each batch made)
As the recipe implies, rock music is the spoon that stirs the soup, and no genre (or spice) is out of the question for Dizzy Mystics. Climbing out the stock pot in 2015, Dizzy Mystics are a psychedelic rock band based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. One can expect a dynamically diverse, tastefully complex, and energetic dose of adventurous hard rock with feet moving rhythmic swagger, and stargazing melodies.

“It is clear that Dizzy Mystics may be among the most unique of the vibrant Canadian rock scene to be delivering tracks that will leave fans of classic, progressive, and 90’s alternative rock excited for what is to come.” – Canadian Beats
“Mysticism aside, this band certainly got the “dizzy” part right! The Winnipeg rock quartet Dizzy Mystics offer up a staggering musical concoction that, considering its progressive and experimental flair, is surprisingly radio-ready. Think Rush and Primus drinking wine with Tool before dropping acid with Frank Zappa and checking out a jazz club with Steely Dan. Dizzying, right? Jokes aside, frontman Kyle Halldorson, guitarist Alexandre Joyal, drummer Jeffrey Laird and bassist Aaron Bacon have some serious chops and, with the right amount of work, gigging and outside help, this Canadian act has the potential to not only see the end of the tarmac, but to also take off!” – PureGrainAudio
“Diamond Duller moves and groves, in interesting rhythms, changing from one beat to another, shifting and clanging with energy. The vocals bring about high energy and ensure the listener is hooked from the get go.” – The Median Man
“The quartet has crafted a psychedelic and progressive sound upon many others including melodic hard rock and funk. The band takes you through a heavy and psychedelic trip on their latest single.” – Technical Music Review

NEWS RELEASE

Calgary’s Decimate MetalFest Announces 2019 Line-Up
w/ Into Eternity, Hammerdrone, Quietus, Planet Eater, Centuries of Decay and more!
DMF 2019 Line-Up Spotify Playlist here.
Calgary’s DECIMATE Metal Festival returns for its second year with its biggest line up to date. Welcoming acts from across Canada, this year’s headliners announced are Into Eternity, Hammerdrone, Quietus, Planet Eater, Centuries of Decay (2018 Wacken Metal Canada Champions) among many more on the 20 plus band event being hosted for three days from July 5th to 7th at the County Line Saloon (full day line ups listed below).
Festival organizer Sloan Voxx comments:
“After the bands obliterated the stage last year, we are beyond excited to be able to resuscitate Decimate Metalfest for year 2! This year not only did we want to showcase well-known favorites, and spice things up with sultry Burlesque dancers, but also bring to view many acts our city has never seen. If that isn’t enough, the cherry on top is incorporating an All-Ages component to the festival and being able to feature musicians under the age of 18! We are truly inspired by the growing musical minds of the next generation and of our future and are so happy to be able to include them in this year’s festival! Whether you’re a non-stampeder or an after-stampeder, we urge you to come out and experience and this vastly talented roster of performing acts. It’s our fans that encourage events like this and that help to make them possible and keep our music community alive. Thank you for your support, and prepare for decimation!”

0 WYKAN Premieres ‘Breo-Saighead (Triple Goddess)’ Off Upcoming EP “Brigid: Of The Night” Out June 2019
(contact info below)
NEWS RELEASE
Montreal, QC – May 20, 2019
For fans of Pink Floyd meets Black Sabbath meets Mayhem
WYKAN Premieres ‘Breo-Saighead (Triple Goddess)’ Off Upcoming EP “Brigid: Of The Night” Out June 2019
Founded in 2017 by guitarist Jeremy Perkins, Montreal’s WYKAN plays a blend of psychedelic doom, heavy blues, stoner rock and black metal in the classic format of bass, drums, and guitar. Their experimental and massive sounding music is best described as Pink Floyd meeting Black Sabbath meeting Mayhem for those who have never heard the band.
Set to release their sophomore EP “Brigid: Of The Night” on June 7, 2019, to follow their 2018 debut EP “Solace”, WYKAN is premiering their first single “Breo-Saighead (Triple Goddess)” via Bravewords.com at the following link here.
“We want to give fans a trip for the mind, without barriers and hooks, just plain vibes and atmosphere. This next EP, overall, is more of the classic riffing which goes with each genre I touch and blend in each of the songs. As a thematic “Brigid: Of The Night” is about the Celtic Goddess known as Brigid. The whole EP’s thematic and three songs are a historical take on the cultural ceremonies & festivities in Ode to Brigid. Also one will find that the lyrics are based on the deities representation and relationship held strong between the Celtic life of pre-Christian Ireland and Brigid.” says Perkins
The band’s line up for the EP features guest drummer Simon McKay of The Agonist rattling his talents on track #3 Reul-Iuil Bride (Star of Brigid) along WYKAN and EOHUM founder Jeremy Perkins on guitar, vocalist Barrie Butler (Eohum, ex-Tard), bassist Corey Thomas, best known for his own Jazz ensemble Backwater Township and drummer Dug Kawliss (ex-Tempete) who is on tracks #1 Imbolc (The Cleansing) and #2 Breo-Saighead (Triple Goddess).
“Brigid: Of The Night” also follows the band’s plan of releasing an EP every six to ten months and keep fans on a ceremonial run of emotion and space.
The EP will be available on Bandcamp as a $1 EP or more Pay-What-You-Want download.
Track Listing:
1. Imbolc (The Cleansing) (7:30)

“an impressive debut, with enough hooks to catch ears wherever it gets play. So grab yourself a copy, turn it up, and consume some mean doom.” – The Burning Beard (Review – Solace EP 2018)
“A strange and bewildering piece of psychedelic doom metal, inspired by both old school doom and black metal, this debut by Canadian act Wykan is certainly something special. ” – Merchants of Air (Review – Solace EP 2018)
“Montreal riff metallers Wykan make their debut April 13 with the SolaceEP. It is not intended for background listening. Even at three tracks/24 minutes, it’s not the kind of thing you “just put on” while you’re picking up around the house or working or whatever you might be doing. It demands attention and demands it early.” – The Obelisk (Review – Solace EP 2018)
““The Gathering” is an undeniably intense song that passes through changing shades of mystery, tension, torment, and gloom. The stage is set through a slow, reverberating guitar melody, whose ringing tones create a mystical aura, and by a solemn, heavy riff that itself has an otherworldly cast. The increasingly acrobatic drumming and the vibrancy of the throbbing bass drive the energy of the song higher, as does the swirling lead, which creates a feeling of growing disquiet and pain, made even more distraught by the vocal combination of acidic rasping shrieks and harsh roars.” – No Clean Singing (Review – Solace EP 2018)
