Unleashing their new EP “Biophagous” last week on August 18th, PROTOSEQUENCE announce they will be performing two CD release shows in their home province of Alberta on September 2nd in Calgary with Angelmaker and September 9th for a hometown event in Edmonton.

Their new EP “Biophagous” is the follow up to their 2016 debut “Schizophrene”.

About:

Protosequence is a reference to the original genome where all life began — much like the band, which existed in principle before they even had a presence. Each of the members were lying in wait to be activated and become the strain that is now Protosequence. Kyle Hunter (guitar) was constantly crafting near-complete songs that were ready to be realized. It did not take long for Kyle and Logan Vars (drums) to finally meet. It seemed as though there were two projects destined to combine into a singular effort to form the final line-up for the band: Logan (drums), Kyle (guitar), Parker (guitar), Joseph McKee (vocals), and Ryan Schaffler (ex-bassist) who is now replaced by Jacob Teeple. Members have a long history in the Edmonton music scene, playing in bands like Anubian and In The Midst Of A Murder since the early 2000s.

The band will be releasing their new EP “Biophagous” on August 18th, 2017 to follow their 2016 debut EP “Schizophrene”.

The video is full of Kabbalistic symbolism and is for those who strive to immerse themselves into the depths of music, rhythm and eternal philosophical ideas.

About:

Samadhi Sitaram is Russian conceptual metal band blending genres of djent, groovecore, deathcore and mathcore. Formed in 2016, the band has quickly become known among metalheads and listeners for their out of this world music plus thought provoking and unusual videos. Their debut album ‘Cyber Harmony’ along with first 3 video clips got great feedback from medias such as rock-magazines like “Bunker”, “Atmosfear”, “OR’Zine”, “Terroraiser” and “EQ Journal”. In March 2017, the band was one of the headliners of the closing ceremony of the Moscow Horror Movies Festival “Kaplya (Drop)” and reached the #7 spot of the Russian ROKK-charts in Spring 2017.

A Devil’s Din are the psychedelic brainchild of UK-born Montreal-based multi-instrumentalist David Lines; joined on his creative journey by disciple of the Rickenbaker bass Thomas Chollet, and virtuoso drummer Dom Salameh

They are a trio of sonic alchemists that together create a chemical wedding of cosmic chords, constantly seeking the philosopher’s stone of the perfect psychedelic song…and as we all know, it’s not the journey…it’s the trip!

And A Devil’s Din certainly takes listeners on a trip…a journey to the center of the psyche with their superb mind-expanding music created for all the right reasons. Inspired by The Beatles (66,67), Syd Barret-era Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Byrds, Lines describes his band’s music as ‘adventurous, transcendent, melodic, esoteric, rockin’!”.

A Devil’s Din has two fine albums under their collective kaftans, “One Day All This Will Be Yours” (2011) and “Skylight” (2016), and now, as though creating a trans-dimensional triptych, they unleash “One Hallucination Under God”.

Lines has very positive aims.

“A Devil’s Din plays a form of rock music that takes cues from both psychedelic and progressive styles. Our goal is to create adventure though sound, hopefully allowing out listeners to connect with something more along the way. We know it’s only rock ‘n’ roll, but we want to have a positive effect on their psyche, not just through the music, but with words as well…This album is a trip to listen to, full of grooves and hooks and colour and meaning that will resonate with the Experienced Mind!…Overall the theme of the album is about “Perception Versus Reality”, our world is essentially a subjective experience, a reflection of our individual thoughts and judgments!”

“‘Eternal Now’ opens the album. It’s an upbeat song with a snazzy guitar riff and verse sung in three-part harmony. The chorus is the closest thing we have to a pop song, but when pop wasn’t a disposable, corporate-driven product. Overall, the theme of the album is about ‘Perception Versus Reality,’ how our world is essentially a subjective experience and a reflection of our individual thoughts and judgments. This idea is perhaps best expressed by semanticist Alfred Korzybski’s dictum, ‘The map is not the territory.’ Songs like ‘Sea of Time,’ ‘Eternal Now,’ ‘Where Do We Go?’ and the title-track all touch on this theme: how we are born into a reality and then conditioned into accepting that this version of reality is ‘it’… And anyone who’s been on the Psychedelic Path will tell you otherwise.”

In 2010, vocalist and songwriter Adrian Pain endured events that would have left most men shattered and broken. Unwilling to take prescribed medications for his severe depression, he found inner strength in the form of the lyrics and music that sprang from his suffering. As Part 2 of the 3 piece saga, this EP was meant to focus on the travels and trials of The Pioneer, protagonist, and last of mankind. The music reflects his growth and self discovery on a post-apocalyptic planet Earth. To new fans/fresh ears, we’d like to invite them into the Black Hole Space Wizard universe through fat stomping riffs, spacey grooves, accessible vocal melody and juicy, pulpy sci-fi madness. We always try to refine our song writing and take one step into new territory with each release, pulling stylistically from whatever inspires us in the moment. HOWLING GIANT! The very name summons up mental images of a huge mutated orc-warrior astride an even more gigantic mastodon, ready to bring death, doom, damnation and destruction (and many other things beginning with “d”) down upon its enemies.

Names matter, and something magical happened when three nerds obsessed with all that is fuzzed-out, riffed-out, and heavy came together to compose cosmic odes to space travel, doomed sea-farers, and even an android on a camel-killing crusade (what harm did the poor camel ever do to him?), under the name HOWLING GIANT.

Drummer Zach Wheeler says the name is no accident and reflects the band’s music.

“Howling Giant sounds a lot like a loud beast, which is what we strive to do musically. We aim to create a full sound that people might normally expect from a five-piece rather than a power-trio.”

Indeed, by employing the three-piece format, HOWLING GIANT is following in the footsteps of legends like Motorhead, MC5, Cream, and Corrosion of Conformity; good company to be in! As the band’s philosophy would have it wisely: “Teamwork makes the dream work.”

Hailing from Nashville, HOWLING GIANT obviously had some special metal immunity to all the country and western music in the air. The boys started jamming at school in Boston with an aim to move away from overtly serious music and have fun, describing their music accurately as “loud, energetic, heavy, melodic, and cosmic.”

Overall, HOWLING GIANT’s music forms part of a fascinating Black Hole Space Wizard concept EP series, which the trio returns with Part 2 due out on August 25th, 2017 to follow Part 1 released almost exactly a year prior.

Over the six tracks, the EP follows a story line and becomes a journey. The diversity in sound between tracks keeps it exiting throughout. Part one of the EP series set the standards high, but ‘Black Hole Space Wizard: Part 2’ exceeds this massively. As a band that are showing strong growth as their career pans out, I cannot wait to hear what unique and exiting sounds they will create for part three.

Hailing from Vancouver, GARRETT are the self-titled brainchild of Sean Garrett, a multi-talented multi-instrumentalist and song writer, who, in the shape of Frank Baker on drums, Brian Jones on guitar and Gary Koenig on bass, has the band to take his unique musical vision to storm stages all over Canada and beyond.

GARRETT hails back to the halcyon days when bands had proper songs, full of melodies and finely-wrought lyrics. GARRETT are doing classic rock with a 21st century freshness!

Inspired by Dream Theater, Ronnie James Dio, King’s X, and classic rock like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd, Sean Garrett describes his band’s music as ‘progressive, edgy, melodic hard rock’.

Sean explains why Garret the man created GARRETT the band.

“I wanted to bring the songs to a live audience as opposed to being limited to recorded music. This is a band that has a passion for playing live!’

Sean is super-stoked for fans to hear GARRETT’s upcoming album “Bridges” due out October 27, 2017.

“It should inspire and uplift people. It should inspire them to rock too, but the lyrics are generally hopeful and reflective and look to brighten an uncertain world…It should also evoke a classic sound with a modern edge; it should make people want to listen to it again and again; there are a lot of layers to these songs; they can’t all be unpacked at one sitting…there are hopeful, reflective lyrics set to progressive melodic rock music…the theme of the album is music for thought with a positive message.”
