“Playing an exciting blend of death & tech metal, Insurrection are masters of dishing out an aural onslaught, one that comes in both French & English. With a serious amount of meat to the bones of the guttural vocals & complex riffs, System Failure opens the album with a bang.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Headbanging Life

“Insurrection hits hard and often on their latest release, Extraction. From the opening barrage of System Failure to the closing song, Data Extracted…End Transmission, the band leaves little fuel left in the tank.” – Grim Reader Reviews

“Right from the off, Insurrection hammer you with a full on assault of thumping drums, gnarly riffs and even gnarlier, sometimes bestial, growling vocals. The opening track ‘System Failure’ is relentless from start to finish as it flies out of the traps at 100 miles an hour.” – Rock n Load Mag

“a thundering album full of riffs, grooves, and hooks.” – Glacially Musical

“‘Extraction’ is a heavyweight of sheer brutality firmly encased in sterile production.” – Maximum Metal

“Extraction delivers ten tracks of faultless technically brutal yet catchy and melodic, death metal, infused with some wonderful thrash moments. There really isn’t a bad track on this platter, with each following a formula that works but yet bringing something different to hook the listener in.” – Moshville Times

“Seriously, go and get this record, you will not regret it. It is a relentless and pummelling slice of tech death that will leave you wanting more. Much more.” – Metal Utopia

“Insurrection are clearly one tight unit. Using metallic force “Extraction” hits the mark and should come with a warning sticker that the album may well remove body parts.” The Small Takover

– Ekletik Rock

“Insurrection play a groovy type of death metal that’s equal parts Dying Fetus, Decapitated and Lamb of God.”  – Metal Sucks

“Head-banging, crushing riffs are the name of the game throughout Prototype, starting with the aptly titled “Abattoir,” which slashes and chops its way through speedy, thrash-esque rhythms and machine-gun drums. “The Chronophobes” adds some technical twists, as well as a more unpredictable structure, while highlight “Checkmate” balances intense grooves and an abundance of fierce, grimy riffs. The album features lyrics in both French and English, adding more interest to the vocals, which range from deep gutturals to high-pitched shrieks…it’s a well-executed, strong release.” – Exclaim!

““Prototype” is the band’s third record, and it’s packed full of jaw-dropping metal brilliance. It’s as solid a death metal record as I’ve heard in the last little while, and it makes me proud – because it’s always good to see something great come out of your hometown.” – Bloody Underrated

“If you are a fan of vigorous and crushing guitar riffs and Growls that are strong enough to make your ears bleed then you need to check this album out. A huge and very successful aspect about this album is the fact that there are songs in both English and French. Even if you can only understand a few lyrics in French like me you will easily surpass this fact and be simply drawn in by the technical Death Metal display that Insurrection puts on in this album.” – Kingston Music Reviews

“One of many great things about the album is the mix of English and French sung batterings upon the senses, the mix adding extra pleasing flavour and texture as shown through the likes of Sueurs Froides, where the bass of Girard reaches into its primal depths to forge a rabid predatory voice to its sound, and the virulently swarming Trois Minutes De Carnage, the track a magnetic pestilence with senses licking grooves and acidic enticement around thumping rhythmic incitement commanding the emotions and imagination.” – Ring Master Review

“With this release, Insurrection’s third, the band certainly demonstrates that they are a strong and aggressive death metal band. Their music has many influences, ranging from death metal to thrash metal; to my ears, the band is really channeling bands like Misery Index on this one. From start to finish, the music on this album is both eclectic and conventional. I don’t mean that as a criticism. I liked the blend of styles and sounds on display here. The other thing I liked about this album is that the band sings some of the tracks in English and some in French.” – Sea of Tranquility

“”Prototype has been a welcome surprise. Easily, one of the more prominent Canadian releases of the year, and it will just as easily gain international ground as well. This is death metal… for the thinking brain”. – Goetia Metal

“Dès la première pièce, l’intro Overprocessed, Insurrection donne le ton à se qui suit tout au long de l’album. Avec une production différente des deux albums précédents, Prototype engage la formation vers un style de Death porté sur une rythmique très mécanique et réglée avec une précision à faire pâlir d’envie les plus grands horlogers. Les riffs sont coupés au couteau et l’ajout de distorsion sur la basse apporte un effet d’attaque brutale au fil des pièces.” Hurlemort

“This 5-piece monstrosity has struck again with precision, aggression and near perfection! INSURRECTION delivers a one of a kind album – solid and crushing from beginning to end.” – The Ottawa Epitaph

“If you’re the metal enthusiast craving heavy and vicious crushing riffs, or the typical technical death metal fan looking for some new stuff to enjoy. Stop searching, you’ve found what you need and believe me you’ll enjoy this album..” – Metal Storm (Fracture review)

“One of the things that attracted me to this band was their use of both local languages in their songs. I know it’s easier to write songs in english, and english bands seem to get more popular than french bands, but I feel like a lot of bands don’t even try. Half the songs on Prologue are in french, and half are in english, and it does nothing but improve the record. Hats off to these dudes for writing in their native tongue.” – Bloody Underated

Assembled in 2003 to infiltrate, build and destroy, Gatineau, QC’s INSURRECTION is an aural onslaught assaulting witnesses in both languages of French and English. Known for blending calculated technicality with a signature mixture of merciless death metal, the band has emerged to be one of the most prominent Eastern Canadian metal bands.

“We are a hybrid of the best and the worst that the metal underground has to offer, completely familiar, yet hard to pin down, better categorized as the many oddly familiar faces that death metal can take.” says band founder and vocalist Stef Jomphe.

Their 2009 debut release ‘Prologue’ gave true life to their monstrosity, the formation launched their second release 2010′s ‘Fracture’, a dark prophecy of unforgivable times and a brutal soundtrack to the fall of man. It pushed the limits with every outing, creating Insurrection to become more than the sum of its parts, but a merciless abomination.

In 2013, their third album ‘Prototype’ produced by Topon Das (Fuck The Facts) was unleashed on Quebec label Galy Records and another well acclaimed brutal assault that converted the unwitting to their legion.

Pushing development to blasphemous levels and quickly spreading their notiriety to areas of Quebec and Ontario. INSURRECTION continues to expand and modulate to corrupt the entire East coast of Canada returning with their new album “Extraction”. A ten track aberration, ready to shock and blast fans to the next life. The album is produced by Pierre Rémillard at Wild Studio (Cryptopsy, Obliveon, Anonymus, Voivod, Krisiun, Ghoulunatics, Despised Icon, Beneath the Massacre, Gorguts, Martyr, etc) and features guest vocals from Bruno Bernier (Obliveon) on “Data Extracted … End Transmission”. The album is slated for release on October 6, 2017 via Galy Records.

NoCleanSinging Premiere PROTOSEQUENCE’s Next Assault “Shepherd” + New EP “Biophagous” Out Aug 18th

Drawing influence from acts like All Shall Perish, August Burns Red, and The Black Dahlia Murder, PROTOSEQUENCE root their music in technicality while layering emotional, yet gruff vocals weaved into every track. The band transitions seamlessly through djent riffs, grinding drums and groove elements, making their sound versatile and ever-changing.  Releasing their first single / video “Parasitic” last month in support of their upcoming EP “Biophagous” to follow their 2016 debut “Schizophrene”, the quintet has teamed up with NoCleanSinging.com for the exclusive premiere of their next single “Shepherd”.

“Shepherd holds closer to my heart than any other song I have written. The story is molded from a young man to present day. I’ve taken advice too literal as a young man, missing out on a lot of important, meaningful experiences with family and friends. It wasn’t until I was older; I realized my Shepherd was only keeping me safe from destructive feedback. I wrote this song angry, but forgiving in the end, for I was ignorant. Hopefully others can see light through these words just as much as I do.” comments vocalist Joseph McKee.

To listen to “Shepherd”, please visit the following link: http://www.nocleansinging.com/2017/08/08/an-ncs-premiere-protosequence-shepherd/

“Biophagous” is due out August 18, 2017 and available for pre-order on the band’s Bandcamp here plus will be available on all major online retailers.

Track Listing:
1. DFL (3:42)

About:

Protosequence is a reference to the original genome where all life began — much like the band, which existed in principle before they even had a presence. Each of the members were lying in wait to be activated and become the strain that is now Protosequence. Kyle Hunter (guitar) was constantly crafting near-complete songs that were ready to be realized. It did not take long for Kyle and Logan Vars (drums) to finally meet. It seemed as though there were two projects destined to combine into a singular effort to form the final line-up for the band: Logan (drums), Kyle (guitar), Parker (guitar), Joseph McKee (vocals), and Ryan Schaffler (ex-bassist) who is now replaced by Jacob Teeple. Members have a long history in the Edmonton music scene, playing in bands like Anubian and In The Midst Of A Murder since the early 2000s.
The band will be releasing their new EP “Biophagous” on August 18th, 2017 to follow their 2016 debut EP “Schizophrene”.

“Incorporating elements from deathcore, technical death metal, and, yes, even djent, Protosequence manages to maintain the listener’s interest while developing an identity that is not only unique to Canada, but to the world. ” – It Djents

“Traversing between djent and technical progressive metal” – Somberlane

“This EP is bursting with technical hooks and ripping solos that take more than a few cues from the technical death metal camp.  In fact, if we consider a spectrum between these genres, I would say that Schizophrene falls closer to groups like The Zenith Passage than Whitechapel.  Also, mad props for the seemless shifts between melodic and harsh riffs while maintaining aggression in the vocals.” – Metal Trenches (EP Review Schizophrene)

“Musically speaking, they share as much in common with Periphery as they do with Lost Soul. While there will be some who are turned off by the noise gates and the disparity of the chunky lows and the sharp highs, I think it’s one of the band’s biggest strengths. It represents the merging of two very technical subgenres and presents each of them in the context of the other. It’s kind of a hard thing to explain without listening; check out “Guardian” and follow it up with “Darkness Weeps” for the best illustration of this dichotomy.” – Toilet ov Hell (EP Review Schizophrene)

  • · Loud As Hell Festival

Loud as Hell – one of Canada’s top underground metal festivals – was a metal family reunion. If you walked around the grounds, where tents covered the landscape like flowers, you would experience concert goers laughing, hugging and just enjoying the moment.
The music played non-stop and the people were some of the best you’ll meet. What else do you need? If you’re a metal head fan, mark it down for next year because this is a concert you don’t want to miss.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 8, 2017

For fans of Four Year Strong, A Day To Remember, Blink 182, Everclear, Lit

PureGrainAudio Premiere THE SPINOFF Debut Single “Something Buried”

L-R – Chris Johnston (Drums), Ben Cardilli (Guitar, Vocals), Dave Ritchie (Bass, Vocals)

Montreal, QC’s THE SPINOFF are a fast pace melodic blast of nostalgia drawing upon inspiration from the late 90’s and early 00’s to forge a unique contribution to the second coming of pop-punk. The three piece rock outfit made up of long-time friends and collaborators Ben Cardilli (Guitar/Vocals), Dave Ritchie (Bass/Vocals), and Chris Johnston (drums) is actually a re-incarnation of their previously established Montreal based band Red October minus one player.

“The band name is a bit of an inside joke referring to the fact that the three of us used to play a similar style of music in Red October and now without our fourth member from that original lineup, we’re mixing things up again. If you’re familiar with your TV shows, it’s like “Joey” post “Friends” except hopefully more successful.” says vocalist / guitarist Ben Cardilli.

Focusing on a blend of modern punk and 90s alt rock similar to bands such as Four Year Strong, A Day To Remember, Blink 182, Everclear and Lit, THE SPINOFF are currently working on ten song debut album merging well-crafted and meaningful songs, almost of a singer-songwriter quality, with a fun and ferocious punk rock energy.

Teaming up with PureGrainAudio.com, the trio are premiering their debut single “Something Buried”.

“It’s a song about all the stages of a band breakup, from reviewing who contributed what to the kind of purgatory that follows, to finally deciding upon ways to let the dust settle and move forward.”  explains vocalist / guitarist Ben Cardilli.

Listen to the track at the following link: http://puregrainaudio.com/audio/the-spinoff-unveil-their-debut-single-something-buried-exclusive-premiere

Live, THE SPINOFF‘s performance is an infectious experience. Showcasing their obvious love for playing their music and leaving their audiences enjoying a moment that is like a friend’s fun hangout with cold brews and great tunes.

Drummer Joshua “Nassaru” Ward comments:

“”Unveiling The Sapient” is the last song on the album, bringing our story to closure. The song itself has a lot of emotions, which depict the events of our “Enders Door” story (which you can check out in our new visual book). We also have Brian Kingsland from Nile and Enthean performing an absolutely awesome guitar solo at the end. We hope everyone enjoys the work involved and the journey we wrote. ”

About:

Inspired by the fictitious universe of Sovael, RAPHEUMETS WELL is the name coined to the conscious deity who oversees the anastomosis of the multiverse, the master of portals and inter-dimensional travel.  Being personified as a trickster, Rapheumet often creates chaos for unsuspecting voyagers.  The word “Well” refers to the gravity wells, which like black holes, are catalyst of change and gateways between the cosmic plains.

Formed in 2008, 2011 and 2012 saw their first two demos followed by their first self release full length ‘Dimensions’ unleashed in 2014 that progressively told a larger story portrayed in a complex saga of Atai (ancient architects) who aid in the propagation of sentient life throughout the multi-verse. In 2016, they released their highly praised sophomore album ‘The Exile’ via Test Your Metal Records.

Now in 2017, from the birth of organic matter to great wars that tear the fabric of space/time, the story of RAPHEUMETS WELL‘s music serves to immerse you into a world of oddities once again with the band’s third release ‘Enders Door’ due out on May 26th via Test Your Metal Records.

“Hickory, NC’s Rapheumets Well(pronounced Ra-few-mets) is a band heavily steeped in science fiction and fantasy. And when I say heavily, I mean HEAVILY. They slam dunk their lushly orchestral and luxurious symphonic melodic blackened death metal into a fantastical and fantastically creative and complex world that I don’t even want to embarrass myself trying to explain. But, you gotta give mad ol’ props to any band willing to dive head first into something as elaborately conceptual as this costumed and inventive septet have from the off.” – Decibel Magazine

“The best symphonic metal albums understand the balance between the synths and the rest of the band, and Enders Door possesses that necessary element. Enders Door can also take you on a journey, offering a fantastic trip into unknown lands, which helps keep you on your toes. Most importantly, it lives up to the potential hinted at with The Exile, and should be an easy sell for fans of this style.” – Dead Rhetoric

“The sense of epic that exists throughout Enders Door hits instantly with its mix of heavy riffs, death metal vocals, classical orchestrations & synth effects.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“As you’re about to find out, this first song from the new album combines turbocharged death metal vehemence with sweeping orchestral melodies, interweaving blazing drumwork and rapid-fire riffing with cosmic synthesizer vistas and fluid soloing, vicious growls and hair-raising shrieks with a vaulting clean-sung passage that coincides with the protagonist’s decision to end his apathy.” – No Clean Singing

“this album is chock-full of powerful, aggressive and moving sounds that show the diversity and complexity of the Symphonic Metal genre.” – 925 Rebellion

“Enders Door – a humongous piece of synth driven, border line operatic, epic death/black metal…. To sum this album up, it is necessary to underline two things: Enders Door is massive, balls to the wall, in a sense very American in the old-school sense of bigger-better. It does not let up for a moment. It is also, for all its dramatic, heavy and violent darkness somehow rather filled with joy. For something so complex and bulked-up, there is a real sense of fun emanating from every track. Whether delivering rabid tech-death riffs over hyper fast blast beats, or introducing female vocals over multiple layers of synthesizers, strings and double kick drums, Rapheumets Well keeps it intense and inspired.” – Archaic Triad

PureGrainAudio Premiere Montreal Duo Bassist Band THE GREAT RUSSIAN EMPIRE “Blood Everywhere”

THE GREAT RUSSIAN EMPIRE (TGRE) is a dark rock collective from Montreal QC, born of a desire to create music in an environment where guitars don’t exist. This project features a double-bass approach from bassist Benoît Forté (The Lonely Sidewalkers/Coco Méliès/ex-Fallstaf/ex-North East Bistro) and bassist Nicolas Miquelon (Norilsk/Mortör/ex-Kintra).

The project is bred by the 1980’s new wave and early 1990’s alternative genre, by way of modern folk and various rock influences. Its bass orientation carries something different at its core, although familiar in its construction and arrangements. Far from referencing a pastiche, THE GREAT RUSSIAN EMPIRE’s name is a wink to the collective and eclectic nature of this musical venture.

TGRE released a first single, “Pig’s Blood” in 2014, to showcase the new entity’s persona. After revisiting the song’s arrangements, writing more material, and adding a few soldiers to its ranks (either permanent or session musicians), the collective re-entered the studio to assemble “Low Ends”. Dark in content, the EP’s lyrics are crafted around tragic personal events, and layered with vocals, violin and cello.

Teaming up with PureGrainAudio.com, THE GREAT RUSSIAN EMPIRE is premiering the first single “Blood Everywhere” at the following link: http://puregrainaudio.com/audio/the-great-russian-empire-predict-the-future-and-unsurprisingly-there-s-blood-everywhere-exclusive-premiere

Bassist Benoît Forté  comments:

“This is the heaviest song on the EP. The lyrics are related to the saturated media of the Dr. Guy Turcotte case, where he killed his two children. It was everywhere, it almost drove me crazy one night going to bed. The only way I could free myself of the whole thing was putting lyrics to paper.”

“Low Ends” is due out September 8, 2017 and will be available in digital format via Bandcamp along with the CD version presented in a gatefold digi-sleeve.
