About:
TAIGA was founded in the Siberian city of Tomsk by Nikolai Seredov from the thrash band “Стахановцы” (Stakhanovtsi) and the funeral doom band “Funeral Tears” along with Andrey Chernov, guitarist of the military/martial industrial metal band “Panzertank”. In December 2013, they released their first two songs, “За чертой” and “На битом стекле”, which marked the beginning of the project. People suffering from mental disorders caused by public misunderstanding, undivided love and their own weakness are the main influence in TAIGA’s lyrics. In January 2014, TAIGA released their the first EP called “Ты всё ещё дышишь” (You Are Still Breathing), which was immediately followed by another EP in February 2014, entitled “Прах к праху” (Ashen To Ashen). With great feedback on their EPs, TAIGA revealed their debut full length “Ashen Light” during March 2014. The album featured new arranged tracks from the first two EPs and was co-released by labels Satanath Record, Metallic Media and and Le Crépuscule Du Soir Productions. In 2015, they released their second album “Gaia” via labels Symbol Of Domination and Metallic Media. In 2016, band recruited Aleksey “Satanath” Korolyov as their keyboardist/ambient sound maker to add to their mystic atmosphere. Quick Note: Andrei Chernov was not involved in the recording of the new album ‘Taiga’, but is still involved as a member of the band.

Album Order:
“Calgary thrashers Illyrian’s sophomore release, Round 2: Fight!, hits you like a sack of hammers to the face. Combining aggressive riffs, vicious vocals, machine gun-like rhythms and head-splitting guitar solos, the four-piece band delivers the goods on its 10 fiery tracks. ” – Bravewords
“Like a game of classic Street Fighter, as the song title ‘Round 2: Fight’ should have you envisioning, Calgary’s Illyrian totally kick ass!” – Pure Grain Audio
“Illyrian impressively fuse such influences as classic thrash, death metal in the vein of Obituary, and a lot of 80s influences into a profoundly impressive package.” – Hellbound
“Calgary based thrash metal that will rip your spine out…theses guys have blistering solos that will make you headbang until your head falls off…The virtuoso guitarists Scott Onofrychuk and Brandon McNeil, give you powerful guitar riffs, creating an atmosphere only a metal head can dream of.” – Rockbrary
“a mosh pit massacring new album appropriately titled Round 2: Fight! Unrelenting, face-melting and otherwise utterly insane, this album is guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser!!” – Canadian Beats
“beautifully technical monster of a record that fuses Catharsis, Nuclear Assault, Possessed and Vio-Lence with progenitors of the original Morrisound “movement” like Obituary. It’s brutal, changes gears effortlessly and combines power and precision in a furious miasma in order to forge a symphony of metallic grandeur, one that even the most jaded and cynical of old thrashers can lose themselves in. To hell with work and to hell with everything else, let’s thrash.” – Mass Movement Mag
‘Round 2: Fight’ is 45 minutes of metal violence with the sole purpose of knocking you unconscious. Illyrian plays its metal as taught to do so by the big four, mixed with some modern ingredients here and there and an occasional death metal touch…All in all, an interesting and wayward piece of work by a band with potency. Do try this out for yourself!” – Lords of Metal
“These guys got me right pumped with their stage presence and attitude, I think I spent more time head banging than I did taking photos. They had some real showmanship in their set and I think a bigger stage and some pyrotechnics would suit them well. They played fast and loud, and one of the highlights of the set was when their guitar player jumped down into the pit to shred with the audience.” – Not Like Us

Once known as a group of goofballs playing thrash metal about video games, Calgary’s Illyrian have now evolved into a highly technical group of goofballs playing thrash metal better. These artists, formerly known as Hellborn Death Engines, are known for their erratic and precise on-stage delivery, rapier wit, and nostalgic charm.
Originally formed in 2011 under the now reviled former moniker, Illyrian have righteously cast off its anchors and let itself develop into a unique and hungry beast. This is, in no small part, due to the recent additions of Jeff Perry (bass/vocals, Sikarra, ex-Animus Labyrinth) and British drum sensation Darren May (drums, ex-Deacon Birch), who have brought new and progressive musical mindsets into the band. Rounding out the original and founding members Scott Onofrychuk (guitars/vocals) and Brandon McNeil (guitar/vocals)’s thrash metal madness in distinct fashion.
Cue 2016, as Illyrian is on the verge of releasing Round 2: Fight!, the band’s second release and more accomplished effort due out on October 7, 2016. Gone are the constraints of conventional metal sub-genre formula, replaced with a melting pot of technical thrash riffs, blistering solos, prog-influenced rhythms and the bands signature tri-vocal attack.

ALMAH Posts New Lyric Video ‘Age of Aquarius’; New Album ‘E.V.O’ Due Out Sept 23rd
Brazilian metallers ALMAH led by ex-Angra singer Edu Falaschi will be releasing their new album entitled ‘E.V.O’ on September 23rd worldwide via Pride & Joy Music (EU), Test Your Metal (US/MX/CA) and King Records (Japan).
The band has posted a new lyric video for the first single off the album ‘Age of Aquarius’ that can be viewed at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXHrA6ro0HY
‘E.V.O’ is the 5th studio album from ALMAH and was recorded in São Paulo, Brazil at IMF studios by Tito Falaschi plus mixed and mastered by Damien Rainaud (Fear Factory, Dragonforce, Baby Metal, etc) at Mix Unlimited in Los Angeles, California. The release is a concept album based on the evolution of people’s mind and soul during the so-called AGE OF AQUARIUS – the new era that the world is about to live. The author of the concept, Edu Falaschi, touches different subjects connected to the main idea, creating very positive lyrics for the album’s atmosphere.
Musically ‘E.V.O’ brings a fresh and powerful sound with the typical modern and heavy ALMAH touch, but this time one will be able to realize that it also has a direct connection with the Angra’s “Rebirth” (the first Angra album with Edu Falaschi’s voice). The compositions are a pleasant travel between contemporary rock, modern power and prog metal. The vocal lines on ‘E.V.O’ are very powerful, classic and the vocals have a higher pitch compared to previous ALMAH’s records. It’s very melodic, clean and into the bel canto style.

0 Musipedia of Metal – Chariots of The Gods – Ages Unsung
There is a lot of melody on this record balancing out the heaviness Of Prometheus And The Flame has the Killswitch influence running through it, As The Sky Falls is a drumming masterclass, Resurrection brings back the Trivium sound while New World slows everything down as an atmospheric piece that explodes in it’s last part. Ages Unsung is an album that looks back to an early millennial period of music but brings it modern day showing that it’s still relevant. 8/10
