About BML:

Black Mourning Light Metal Festival is the black metal and doom festival founded by Dustin Ekman of Crown of Viserys. Created to fill a void in Edmonton’s black and doom scene.

After a successful debut during Halloween 2015, Black Mourning Light Festival returns for a 2016 edition set from October 21st-23rd. The onslaught will be held at the Rendezvous Pub with a lineup of bands from across Western Canada all in the vein of black and doom metal along with select death styles. Last year’s line up included 11 bands from three provinces such as headliner Idolatry (Edmonton), Altars of Grief (Regina), Noire (Winnipeg), Ossific (Winnipeg), Vile Insignia (Calgary) and more.

Those that attended the 2015 inaugural ritual will not be disappointed by 2016, as they can expect a different while similar experience to that event. Due to the proximity of Samhain, costume prizes will still be awarded to those who wish to dress up early and celebrate the season.

DOUBLE EXPERIENCE’s third studio album entitled “Unsaved Progress” was released on April 8th via their label Colfax Music. Taking the next step from their previous album – initially released exclusively on collectible trading cards, the band utilizes classic video-game inspired artwork and packaging. The album was brought to life with the help of Al Jacob and Kit Walters (HE IS LEGEND) at Warrior Sound in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Prior to the creation of “Unsaved Progress”, Double Experience were busy performing across 15 countries, playing everywhere from video game museums to tattoo conventions as well as showcases at Canadian Music Week and Indie Week Canada. Their adventures have been supported by international radio, festivals and television alike, culminating with an entire nerd-rock exposé and performance on Global TV in Canada.

Album orders are now available at the band’s merch store here. A deluxe edition of the album – boasting two unreleased songs, two acoustic remixes, merch discount codes, studio footage and a brand new trading card – is also available for the fastidious Double Experience collector.

“One more thing I’d like to mention is the conceptual feel of the whole thing, probably triggered by the similarity in ‘The Angel Of Rain’ and the classic metal anthem ‘A Sacrifice’. I miss that feeling in many present day heavy metal albums. Classics like ‘Ride The Lightning’, ‘Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying’, ‘Painkiller’ or ‘Breaker’ were no mere collection of songs but a musical unity. Well, ‘Conductor Of Storms’ has that same feeling as those classics, something I can only applaud. This album is a gem, a must-have in every self-respecting heavy metal collection. ”

Releasing New Album October 14th  ‘The Frozen Moon of Erebath’

Unleashing their debut concept album ‘The Frozen Moon of Erebath’ on October 14th, atmospheric black metal contingent CELL have joined forces withNoCleanSinging.com for the premiere of their first single ‘Erasing The Plane of Existence’ at the following link: http://www.nocleansinging.com/2016/08/30/an-ncs-premiere-cell-erasing-the-plane-of-existence/

CELL is a band purveying their own unique brand of cosmic black metal with pile-driving drumming, flavored with hints of doom and sludge metal, but always with that unique black metal atmosphere, inspired by the cosmos, and darker than any black hole, drawing all light into itself and spewing out darkness.

Their concept album ‘’The Frozen Moon of Erebath’ takes place in a different galaxy to our own.

“In this galaxy there are many intelligent beings that have been driven to extinction by their own hands.” says vocalist / guitarist Hyperion. “Greed, hate, lust, and power are some of the many feelings that have destroyed them over time. On the frozen moon of Erebath there is a race of beings who destroyed their own planet and relocated to their moon to perform experiments and create more hybrids of themselves that can further their goal to conquer the galaxy.”

CELL came into creation in the late fall of 2014 at the hands of guitarist and vocalist Hyperion and drummer Void in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After jamming as a two-piece for a few months, bassist Deimos joined the nucleus of Cell, and this unique black metal organism was ready to infect the world, for a strong concept divides and multiplies like an invading organism infecting more and more fans in their turn…The Cell infection/invasion begins here!

Feeding off the crowd’s energy, Cell lives to bring their unique cosmic black metal to the stage…to show and guide their fans to what reigns above them, the universe in all its cold splendor and glory!

Their top five influences are Inquisition, Tsjuder, Immortal, Death and 1349 but CELL very much bring their own vision to the table, after all, if you want to see far, you stand on the shoulders of giants…and CELL’s vision reaches to the very edge of the universe.

1. Gateway to Erebath
2. Drained And Lifeless
3. Cosmic Portal Ov Hell
4. Symbiotic Parasite
5. Celestial Hybrid
6. The Infinity Gauntlet
7. Erasing The Plane Of Existence

Fredericton, New Brunswick five piece progressive metal band TACTUS have posted a new teaser for their upcoming debut full length ‘Bending Light’ due out on October 7th. The album features ten outer limit prog tracks produced by the band with mixing and mastering by Jamie King (Between The Buried In Me, Paradise Lost, Scale The Summit) to follow their previously released EPs ‘ins(T)rumental’ (2015) and ‘T’ (2014) plus singles ‘Enigma’ and their metal cover of The Police’s ‘Roxanne’.

To hear the teaser, please visit the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVfVbFSfDoM

Formed in 2011 as a jam project by three fellow music students, the group has gone on to release several singles and EPs independently, while having the opportunity to share the stage with great metal acts like Protest the Hero, Intervals, Black Crown Initiate, and Mandroid Echostar. The group pride themselves on their infusion of multiple musical styles into hard-hitting riffs, epic choruses, and technically intense passages. Soaring melodies, guttural growls, and destructive breakdowns flow into soft, slow, and pensive segments of jazz and rock. Their compositional method, where songs are conceived, written, transcribed, and edited before they are ever learned or rehearsed, adds a level of refinement and fluidity not always found in heavier music. The band do almost all of their engineering work themselves, but have also worked with several talented producers. Their first EP T (June 2014), comprised of four previously released singles and one new song, featured the mixing and mastering handiwork of Gino Bambino (Novallo) and Justin Hill (SikTh). Their single Resurface (December 2014) was handled by George Lever (Burials).

1. Anamnesis (2:12)
2. Aurora (6:26)
3. Scimitar (4:08)
4. All Roads (4:06)
5. Feast or Famine (4:58)
6. Colossus (4:20)
7. Goliath (7:14)
8. Cardinal (4:20)
9. Red and Ivory (6:56)
10. King of the Sky (14:35)
Album Length: 59.21

Originally formed in 2011, the Calgary thrashers formerly known as Hellborn Death Engines are beginning their resurgence under the new moniker ILLYRIANwith the recent additions of bassist / vocalist Jeff Perry (Sikarra, ex-Animus Labyrinth) plus British drum sensation Darren May (ex-Deacon Birch) who have brought new and progressive musical mindsets into the band to join original and founding members Scott Onofrychuk (guitars/vocals) and Brandon McNeil (guitar/vocals).

Evolving into a highly technical group playing thrash metal with their erratic and precise on-stage delivery, rapier wit, along with nostalgic charm, ILLYRIAN have removed the constraints of conventional metal sub-genre formula to replace their sound with a melting pot of technical thrash riffs, blistering solos, prog-influenced rhythms along with the band’s signature tri-vocal attack all showcased on ten new thrashing tracks on their new album ‘Round 2: Fight!’. The album is set to be unleashed on October 7th and was co-produced by the band with Casey Lewis at Echo Base Studios plus mastered by Sacha Laskow (Every Hour Kills, ex-Divinity) at Perfect Fifth Studios.
