Ottawa, ON symphonic black / death metal band ENDEMISE has posted a new music video for the title track from their upcoming album ‘Anathema’ due out later this year to follow their 2013 debut album ‘Far From The Light’ released on Maple Metal Records and 2012 self-titled EP. The album was produced byENDEMISE guitarist Dale Sauve along with Ken Sorceron (Abigail Williams) and features eight blistering tracks to burst your ear drums (album artwork and track listing revealed below). Endemise’s live brutality has also lead the band to be a favourite local support on the Ottawa metal scene for touring bands such as Abigail Williams, Cattle Decapitation, Alestorm, Battlecross, Beneath The Massacre, Crimson Shadows and Vesperia.

WACKEN METAL BATTLE CANADA is proud to announce 2013 championsCRIMSON SHADOWS will be special guest headliners of this year’s 2016 national final in Toronto, ON at Opera House on June 11th.

“We are very pleased to have 2013 champions Crimson Shadows as our guest headliner for this year. I think it’s an obvious choice, they have been going strong since they’re crowning at Wacken and have been big supporters of the metal battle the entire time. The national final in Toronto, ON will be host to Prairie Final winner Tales of The Tomb (Edmonton, AB) plus Ontario Final winners Profaner (Hamilton, ON) and Pyramid Theorem (Toronto, ON) with BC and Quebec finalists still to be announced. The winner of this year’s national competition will perform at Wacken Open Air in Wacken, Germany, which holds an attendance of over 80,000 metalheads from around the world for ‘One Band To Rule Them All’.
This is WMBC’s fourth year hosting the competition across country in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, London, Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. For the last three years that Wacken Metal Battle has been held in Canada, it has produced two world champions Vesperia (2015) and Crimson Shadows (2013) to triumph at the international Wacken Metal Battle beating out over 30 other representing countries from around the globe.

About:

Wacken Metal Battle Canada is part of an international competition where over a hundred band’s from across the country battle each other for one to be selected and join over 30 other countries for an international battle of the bands at the world’s largest outdoor metal festival Wacken Open Air, which has been taking place in Wacken , Germany for the last 26 years. Oshawa’s Vesperia (2014 winners – video at Wacken), Toronto’s Crimson Shadows (2013 winners – video at Wacken) and Montreal’s Mutank (2014 winners – video at Wacken) have had that honour playing in front of thousands. The 2016 festival will be taking place from August 4-6.

How it works:

Each city will hold their qualifying rounds plus city finals from the months of January to May 2016 selecting the top band to move forward to the national finals in Toronto, ON on June 11th at Opera House with one being selected to perform at the 27th edition of Wacken Open Air taking place from August 4-6. All bands will be judged during battle rounds by respected local music industry.

The finalists will be selected as follows by province.

Combining a heavenly destruction of heavy riffs with beautiful melodies, Vancouver, BC’s European influenced symphonic metal band CELESTIAL RUIN create catchy, singable and epic tunes that draw on lyrical themes of fantasy and horror, plus sometimes implying deeper meanings or just celebrating the subject matter at hand. “‘Firestorm is one of my favourite songs on the album! I still get goosebumps when I hear the ending. The song is about being trapped in a destructive relationship/life. Feeling caged and being continuously wounded yet still finding a reason to stay. Think of how it would feel to be in a cage. No sunlight, no fresh air and knowing that no matter what you did you could never be free again. That feeling of captivity and acceptance, that everyday you would die over and over again. But if you listen close to the lyrics, you will realize that the only thing holding this person in that cage…..is themselves.”

About:

Canadian band CELESTIAL RUIN is styled after European Symphonic Rock/Metal but executed with a decidedly North American flavor. Combining a heavenly destruction of heavy riffs with beautiful melodies, CELESTIAL RUIN create catchy, singable melodies, and rich symphonic textures. The compositions are “epic” by all accounts. Lyrical themes are mainly drawn from fantasy and horror, sometimes implying deeper meanings, sometimes just celebrating the subject matter.
Based out of Vancouver, BC, CELESTIAL RUIN started taking the scene by storm with their debut album “The Awakening”. Receiving favorable reviews in publications such as Rockstar Weekly Magazine professing a 4/5 star rating declaring, “If The Awakening is only the beginning of things to come, you’d best get on board now while the getting’s good.”

This is a praise that has been mirrored in many live reviews including Beat Route Magazine stating, “Celestial Ruin appears to be in a sub-genre scene of one…their differences are working to their advantage”.
From September- December 2015 they completed a cross Canada tour (Out of Exile) and are now preparing for the release of their 2016 EP ‘Pandora’ produced by Joost Van Den Broek (Epica, Revamp, Xandria).
“As a significant jump forward from our debut album, from song writing to production, this EP was a journey that allowed to us grow, and we hope that fans will grow with us.” says Larissa Dawn.
A collaborative writing effort by CELESTIAL RUIN, the May 20th release of ‘Pandora’ will showcase the best of their best shared with fans new and old alike.
“The music on ‘Pandora’ is about unleashing chaos, beauty and all emotions into the world. It celebrates both the joy and the pain that emotions can create. The lyrics on this release come from a mix of personal experiences and fantasy elements. Most of the were written during a time when Larissa was going through recovery from a surgery and was unable to speak, sing and barely able to stand up. So the frustration, sadness, anger and fear she felt during her recovery created “Pandora”.” says drummer Adam Todd.
