Presents
Mongol (Devon, AB)
https://www.facebook.com/MongolCanada
Forged in the frozen bowels of Devon, Alberta, by members, Tegri, Zev, and Bourchi. The folk metal act “Mongol”, pays homage to the Mongolian Empire of old. Blending heavy melodic riffs, with an array of folk instruments, and Asian harmonies, Mongol creates a sound that stands apart from any other Folk Metal band.
Tyrant ( Edmonton, AB)
https://www.facebook.com/tyrantcanada
Tyrant is a five-piece heavy metal band hailing from the small town of Gibbons, Alberta. Influenced by bands like Metallica, As I Lay Dying, Lamb of God, and Sylosis, the band combines modern metal with classic thrash metal. Tyrant’s melodic lead lines, shredding solos and powerful screams create high-energy songs, which bleed into their live show. Tyrant’s live performances include heavy music, lots of head banging, and usually at least one member of the band in the crowd moshing.
Black Collar ( Srpuce Grove, AB)
https://www.facebook.com/BlackCollarBand
Black Collar has a straight up fucked up kind of metal brand that they bring to every show. With a metal sensation that feels like its straight out of the 90’s along side bands like Pantera and Exodus. you will find it hard not to throw down to their tunes while they are on stage.
And
Ravage Red
https://www.facebook.com/RavageRedBand
DEBUT SHOW**
Ravage Red will be making this their Debut show and what a show to play. Ravage Red is a five-piece metal band from the surrounding Edmonton area. Thrash, groove, and overall aggression from Mike (drums), Spencer (guitar), Cody (guitar), Lucas (bass) and Billy (vocals) will leave you no option but to bang your head!
About:
Farmageddon Open- Air was conceived in 2012 by Tyson Travnik whom is recognized in the Alberta metal scene through sound engineering duties and promotional services. After noticing the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise, Travnik wanted to re-create the intimate setting and host a festival with no internal borders in the Edmonton area.
After two very successful years, Farmageddon Open Air has proven to be one of the most prestigious metal open-air festivals in Canada with quality production that has been highly regarded by bands and patrons alike. The festival falls into a special category with Travnik setting goals of bringing in top-shelf bands that rarely, if ever play Canada. The costs of doing so are reflected in the ticket price with maximum attendance numbers not being something on the agenda. Keeping an intimate setting between the bands and their fans along with growth of the metal sub-culture to aid in promoting some of the hardest working bands in the country is at the forefront of Farmageddon’s priority.
Each year, the festival has hosted over 30 bands, with the request reaching as far as Europe and Asia. Farmageddon prides itself in only selecting the bands that the organizers feel have proven themselves worthy of the festival. This is not based on show attendance figures, but rather by judging the work ethic of the band throughout the previous year. With many new features and additions planned for Farmageddon 2015, organizers are pushing forward to double the attendance numbers from 2014.
