Brooklyn, NY’s DISPARAGER has teamed up with GeardGods.net for the premiere of their new drum playthrough for their track ‘Pictures’ off their latest EP‘Timeless, Ageless’ produced by Jay Maas (Defeater, Bane, H2O, American Nightmare, Polar Bear Club).

Vocalist/ guitarist Chris AhKao comments:

“Pictures is fun for us to play. It’s in 5/4 throughout, there’s 4/4 over 5/4 and 6/8 over 5/4 simultaneous polyrhythm stuff going on, and some metric modulation too.  Peter is one of the best drummers I’ve ever played with.  He’s pretty out there and challenges us as musicians.”

Formed just last year, DISPARAGER has always had the crazy notion that music is art and that art is never a means to an end but an end in itself. As an extension of frontman Chris AhKao regaining his life from personal demons, this debut EP is a testament to that. Bursting with dense rawness and precision while pushing the boundaries of metal with tracks like “At Least I Still Have Bon Iver” – half folk song, half crushing mix of Isis and Slayer – and “Pictures” – a time signature mindfuck the band is proud NOT to call prog rock. The music is meant to showcase a refusal to settle, to compromise, to live any other life than that inspired by unwavering intent, self-expression and integrity.

“Disparager are from Brooklyn, New York and play metal or hardcore, or post-rock, or whatever you want to call it. Above all else though, Disparager are fucking badass. ” – Pure Grain Audio

“Passion and sincerity are what matters most in music, and Disparager have an overabundance of those. Opening with “Pictures,” the band show themselves as technically adroit but never at the expense of the actual song. “Tuesday Love” is raw in its emotion; this is an antidote to the fake music that clogs up the airwaves like fat in an old man’s arteries. “Gratitude” reminds me of Cave In with its juxtaposition of darkness and light. My favourite track on the EP is the heartfelt “R.I.P Bill Hicks” (Bill Hicks was a genius and the world is a poorer place for his passing— look up some of his work for proof). Finishing with the epic “At Least I Still Have Bob Iver,” Disparager show themselves as a band with passion, a strong identity, and a reason to be. Not many bands can say that.” – Hellbound

In additional news, the post rock metal band recently unleashed a new lyric video ‘RIP Bill Hicks’ from their debut EP ‘Timeless, Ageless’ produced by Jay Maas (Defeater, Bane, H2O, American Nightmare, Polar Bear Club).

Lyric Video – RIP Bill Hicks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVGAWd57KFs

Vocalist / guitarist Chris Ahkao comments:
“R.I.P. Bill Hicks is about letting go of something that is wrong for you, even if the act of letting go, the decision to let go, and everything leading up to that decision is hard.  Comfort and familiarity are nice, but allowing those feelings to steer your life treads dangerously close to living in fear.  Our days are precious and few and we must decide what is worth our time.”

Ottawa, ON video game rock nerds DOUBLE EXPERIENCE has teamed up with ComicBookNerdsAreHot.com for the premiere of their latest animated lyric video ‘Here’s Y’ from their forthcoming album ‘721835′ set for release on August 1st andrecorded by fellow science-fiction aficionado Al Jacob (He is Legend, A Skylit Drive) in North Carolina. Their new album is a curious collection of songs that are inspired by everything the band loves and considers nerdy. Showcasing a creative sound influenced by geeky comic books, trading cards, classic 8 bits games to today’s future 3D experiences, the album follows up their 2011 EP ‘One Big Quicksand’ recorded and produced by Jayson DeZuzio (Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance) that was released via Blue Sapphire/Universal Music Canada.

In additional news, DE recently wrapped up their ‘Rated M For MaTour’ that included a showcase at this year’s Canadian Music Week to add their 500+ shows and collection of over 100,000 miles during their multiple past tours across Canada, the UK, and the States.  Taking no time to hit the road again, the band is going South to the USA for their ‘Smells Like Freedom Tour’ this June, which includes performances at Pegasus Records Store in Florence, AL and video game stores Game Over in Houston, TX and Austin, TX.

“Though this won’t be our first time touring in the USA, each show we booked was in a city or state we have never played before. We’ve already compiled another list of dream locations to visit based on the Food Network, too.” comments bassist Tim Kealey.

“Here’s Y is the biggest departure from our formative years as a band, but we’re really happy with the end result. There’s just something strangely satisfying about an eerie little pop song that essentially runs down a list of the reasons why you disappoint so many people. That being said, I believe my generations better years are still ahead of us, and hopefully this song – with a little tough love – can help that transition.” comments guitarist Brock Tinsley.
