Wrapping up their ‘CANADA SLAYS TOUR’ that saw TRIBUNE complete their second cross country tour from Vancouver, BC to Montreal, QC and back West in promotion of their latest album ‘Tales’, an author inspired concept album released October 2013 via their indie label Corpse Corrosion Music. Guitarist Terry Anderson has posted a blog recapping the tour and thanking fans and friends for all the support plus details on the band looking for pictures from the tour and their upcoming future plans.

“Hi Everyone, Terry here… I’m finally recovered from what has been Tribune’s funnest and most successful tour to date. It’s been about 12 days since Tribune got back from tour and we’re still adjusting back to our normal lives. So much has happened between our last blog in Saskatchewan and the end of our tour that summing up everything that happened in one blog entry just won’t do…We cannot thank you all enough for the love and support! There are so many people to be thanked that we’ll save the individual thank-you’s for later posts as we post more about the tour. This has been Tribune’s most successful tour to date and we owe it all to you! CANADA SLAYS!” -Terry Anderson

Their concept album ‘Tales’ was inspired entirely by literature featuring a wide array of influences from Homer to Mary Shelley to H.P. Lovecraft, to more extreme musical influences such as Carcass, Death and At The Gates. The band’s appetite for more melodic and more brutally heavy sounds to follow-up 2011’s Elder Lore/The Dark Arts is demonstrated with their collusion of extremity and accessibility that bleeds into the melting pot and their fresh take of progressive death metal.

“Tribune first came to my attention with their free-willed debut, 2011′s Elder Lore/ The Dark Arts – and I’m happy to report they have expanded their unfettered approach even further. These talented Canadian draw influences and inspirations from all over the metal map, fusing extremity with accessibility, the traditional with the contemporary, sweet simplicity and exceptional complexity. What’s more, they have brought all the diversity together into one smooth, cultured, and satisfying whole. There is so much to enjoy on this thoughtfully presented and powerfully produced CD: well worth seeking out for those looking for some fresh, creative metal.” – Zero Tolerance Magazine

“Lyrically, this is steeped in the lore of Lovecraft and Wells, but the music on offer goes through many changes, from raging trad and thrash to technical death metal, changing Tyr into Arsis, Slough Feg into The Black Dahlia Murder. With a production that is healthy and full of fire, ‘Tales’ is a must hear for those looking for something unique and unclassifiable in the metal world. A rare treat.” – Powerplay Magazine

“Tales is one of the most distinctive records I’ve heard this year…undoubtedly delivers difference right off the bat, putting its best foot forward and defying expectations the moment it begins by spotlighting Bryan Baker’s unprecedented singing style.” – Angry Metal Guy

“This is the release that I would expect Tribune to break through with; this is very strong material that is well written, interesting and technically excellent.” – Brutalism

“Canadian band, TRIBUNE, are an eclectic mix of different sounds and genres that result in a refreshing style that can only be heard to fully understand. The progressive quintet’s second full-length album, Tales, is a concept album based on the writings of renowned authors, like Lovecraft and Wells, but the music remains intensive and enjoyable.” – Metal Observer

“very now and then, a band comes around with a defined sound unlike anything previously heard by the listener. Such is the case with Tribune, and their latest release Tales.” – Kosher Metal

About: CROWS: REMIXES, REBOOTS AND ALTERNATIVE VERSIONS (LP)

In March of 2014 three-piece hip-hop/blues/folk-constellation Crows: released their debut album called “Remixes, Reboots and Alternative Versions”. “Remixes…” started out as just what it sounds like; a remix album. Using a microphone, a loop-pedal and one 15-watt amplifier Mumbles put together rough remixes of tracks lifted off his friend, Winnipeg prairie-rapper Abstract Artform’s album “As the Crow Flies”. Enter Co-pilot; with who’s sincerely dope and playful cuts, amongst other additions to the mixes, the sound of the album broadened.

The track list contains both alternative versions of previously released songs by Abstract Artform, and original – previously unreleased songs made by Crows: as a three-piece.

“This album sounds like what would happen if a bunch of Canadian rappers and beat maestros emigrated to the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, sitting out on the porch with their equipment, jars of moonshine tucked neatly between rocking chairs.” –Rapreviews.com

“If “REAL” hip hop is your thing than you’ve got to see these guys live.” – The Scene Magazine (Indie Week 2012 Concert Review)

“Abstract Artform is all about putting its own distinctive twist on things when it comes to hip-hop. The genre is principally about repping where you’re from, and frontman/producer MC Shea Malcolmson notes they take it to heart.” – CBC Radio 3

“Halifax’s Classified might be trying to establish himself as the preeminent writer of hip-hop songs tied to our national identity, but Winnipeg’s Abstract Artform might just give him a run for his money.

The group, fronted by MC and producer Shea “Kid A” Malcolmson, fuses live jazz and soul-like music with vocal delivery familiar to fans of groups like Jurassic 5. Their “I Am Canadian” single from 2010’s His Story In The Making is a hit waiting to happen while other cuts share and celebrate life in a Prairie capital. Upcoming full-length As The Crow Flies is their second in as many years and the third since 2008’s Prairie Kid. The band’s work ethic has garnered them consecutive appearances at the taste-making NXNE festival, a 12-month stay on the Chart college lists, and a slew of other appearances and opportunities.

With easy flow, great instrumentals, and lyrics worth turning an ear to, Abstract Artform should be must-play material for any Canadian hip-hop fan.” – Canadian Musician Magazine

“Abstract Artform came out swinging with “Here We Are” from their debut album Prairie Kid. Their high energy set continued with stomping, rap exercises and oh yes songs: “Hands up”, “I Am Canadian” and “Summer in the City.” They debuted “BAMF”(produced by Canadian beatsmith/MPC-Jedi Fresh Kils) a new song from their upcoming album.”(Live Review) – Stylus Mag (Winnipeg)

“His Story in the Making, the second album from Abstract Artform (aka producer/MC Kid A, aka Shea Malcolmson), delivers on the promise hinted at on Prairie Kid. From the easy groove of Winnipeg (feat. Fashawn) to the funked-out Old School (feat. Flo Soul) to the hooky Hip Hop (Is What I Was Doing), Kid A establishes himself as a self-deprecating, clever wordsmith who isn’t afraid to let his Prairie roots show. There are no bitches ’n’ bling tales of excess here, either; Steady At It is a refreshing reality check about the financial struggles faced by Canadian artists, hip hop and otherwise.- 4/5 – Jen Zoratti – Uptown Mag – Review – His Story In The Making

“Canadian hip hop group ABSTRACT ARTFORM is a perfect recipe of golden era hip hop combined with funk and soul from the 70′s, and of course some new school influence. Abstract Artform founded by Kid A, the band includes several members: Kid A – lead vocalist/writer/producer, Cue – hypeman/back-up vocalist, DJ ill Type – DJ, Bishop Grandin – drums, D-Rail – bassist, Cam Wilks – drums” – HipHopForever – Review – His Story In The Making

“What happened to hip hop?” MC Abstract Artform, aka Shea Malcolmson, asks on Here We Are. Good question. Luckily, this Prairie kid is eschewing the commercial hip hop cluttering our radio airwaves and, like Winnipeg expat Grand Analog and Edmonton’s Cadence Weapon, takes a decidedly old-school approach to hip hop. Heavily funk inflected, Prairie Kid dares you not to dance – but it’s Malcolmson’s deep, Buck 65-esque vocals that make this record shine. Check out Boom and They Call Me featuring the renowned DJ Brace. – Jen Zoratti – Uptown Mag – Review – Prairie Kid

“You can call him Abstract Artform. You can call him Kid A. You can even call him Shea Malcolmson. But don’t call him a poser. This debut proves the local MC and producer is definitely for real. His beats are stark yet distinctive, his eclectic tunes splice ’70s samples with his own material, and his gruff, tongue-tripping flow bypasses thug fantasies for intelligent realism. We’d call that cool.”- Darryl Sterdan – Winnipeg Sun – Review – Prairie Kid

“You one of the coolest, smartest and sincerest artist I know. Much success.” – Akil the MC (LA SKILL DISTRICT/JURASSIC 5)

“…Distinctively Canadian Hip-Hop…” “…National hit song writing material…” – Greg Wells PRODUCER (ONE REPUBLIC, LINDSAY LOHAN, CRASH TEST DUMMIES, DEFTONES)

On the road for their ‘CANADA SLAYS TOUR’ in promotion of their latest release ‘Tales’, heavy metal brewers TRIBUNE have posted a new tour blog from their experience in Grande Prairie, AB and Edmonton, AB at the following link below. The tour kicked off in Kelowna, BC on April 3rd and has the band trekking as far East as Montreal, QC (April 19) to return West for the wrap up the tour in Nanaimo, BC on May 3rd.

This is Tribune‘s second cross Canada Tour since 2012, when they toured across the US and Canada in support of their previous release ‘Elder Lore/ The Dark Arts’.

Their concept album ‘Tales’ was released October 2013 via their indie label Corpse Corrosion Music and was inspired entirely by literature featuring a wide array of influences from Homer to Mary Shelley to H.P.
