Listen Stream Coils Of Entropy here.

This is just a killer death/grind album. You won’t find anything surprising here, but that’s not the point. The drums gallop at a maniacal pace, the guitars sound amazing and the vocals are gruff and dirty, just the way they should be for this record. And the solos, holy shit! Check this one out for sure. This is the Canadian (via Dubai) band’s first full-length.

Nephelium, Coils Of Entropy: Although they hail from Toronto, Nephelium leaders Alex Zubahir (guitar, vocals) and Alan Madhavan (drums) originally met in their native Dubai before emigrating to Canada, and what makes this band so interesting, beside their skill at creating punishing, no-frills death metal, is the way they subtly incorporate Middle Eastern melodies into the compositions. The overall effect on this full-length debut is that of a less-contrived version of Nile, and if they keep improving, Nephelium just might end up being Canada’s and Dubai’s answer to those death metal masters.

NEPHELIUM “Coils of Entropy” Out Today! Brutal Dubai Death Metal

Nephelium, the brutal death metal band that traces its roots back to the late 1990s from the city of Dubai, UAE and whom have now re-established themselves in Toronto, Canada for the last 10 years are proud to officially release their long awaited debut album “Coils of Entropy” today Tuesday, February 7, 2012.

The album balances equal amounts of brutality and complexity, staying true to the roots of old-school death metal and is a 6 track masterpiece that truly embodies Nephelium’s vision of technical death metal with old school roots and Arabian melodies.

“Today marks a significant day in this age – The “Awakening of the Giants” and the “Arrival of Entropy”. Join us in celebrating and commemorating the beginning of the end of an era as we cast our insidious gospel on the world.” commented Nephelium drummer Alan Madhavan.

“Coils of Entropy” debut #2 on the Canadian college radio loud charts last week and has been garnering great reception from media and fans.

About: Dubai may be known as a city rich in history, a business hub and the home of the tallest structure in the world, but it’s also the birthplace of  one of the first death metal bands to come out of the Middle East.

Dubai is where, in the late 1990s, guitarist Alex Zubair and drummer Alan Madhavan came together to form Nephelium, guided by the sole vision of a band comprised of equal parts complexity and brutality.

Staying true to the roots of death metal, Nephelium was quick to forge ahead with experimentation, pulling in influences from metal and other genres.

With the hope of spreading Nephelium’s insidious gospel across the world, Zubair and Madhavan settled in Toronto, Canada where they completed the band’s lineup and immediately began playing shows and tearing up local stages, which quickly led to opening slots for metal heavyweights Skinless and Deicide.

Following a tumultuous journey spanning ten years, two continents and countless lineup changes, Nephelium is ready to once again give the death metal world a good shaking with the release of their debut album, Coils of Entropy.

The embodiment of Nephelium’s journey to striking the perfect balance between technical death metal, old school metal and Arabian melodies, Coils of Entropy is a six-track masterpiece set to breathe new life into today’s dwindling death metal landscape.
