Versus The Nothing Announce Dates “The Grind Stone Tour”

The tires on Versus The Nothing‘s tour bus are always in motion as the melodic hard rockers are proud to announce their first tour of 2012. The Grind Stone tour will kick off in their hometown of Vancouver on Feb 17th and see the band trek across both west and east coast dates in the US and Canada.

“Stoked to get on the road again and support the Black Gloves EP, plus we’re really excited to road test all the new songs we have been writing for our upcoming full length.” commented VTN guitarist Ande Otte.

VTN released their anthem chanting EP “Black Gloves” back in July 2011, with their first single “Killer” to follow up their 2008 release “Let It All Come Down”, which garnered a great reception from fans and industry members alike and saw multiple commercial placements.

Black Gloves was produced by Jay Evjen (Hot Hot Heat, Wide Mouth Mason) who also mixed songs “River” and “Invisible Asylum”. Meanwhile, Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Hedley, Sam Roberts) mixed the album’s official first single “Killer” and “Excuse Me”.

“Killer” can now be downloaded for free, and the EP can be ordered at the following link: http://versusthenothing.bandcamp.com

About: VERSUS THE NOTHING, a hard rock band from Vancouver BC features heavy guitars, powerful melodic vocals, and an infamous energetic live show. The group is carving out a name for themselves through extensive touring, and have built a loyal and growing fan base across Canada and the United States with their blend of post-punk infused grunge rock.“Everything you want is on the other side of fear. Fear is something that stops you from achieving or pushing forward against the odds. VERSUS THE NOTHING stands for fighting adversity, doing what you love and overcoming what seems impossible”.

VERSUS THE NOTHING released their debut album “Let It All Come Down” which hit the airwaves in Canada and the US as winners in 2008 Fox Seeds radio contest. In addition to song placement with Mazda, a Tom Green featured film and the Official 2010 Olympic video game for X-box and PS3 the album received praise from critics and fans alike.

After logging over 150,000 Km’s of touring experience playing some of the most legendary venues including Whiskey a Go-Go and The Commodore Ballroom, with some of the biggest names in rock amongst them Hinder and the Art of Dying. Continuously grinding through the elements of the cold Canadian winters and sweltering hot American summers living & breathing their music. VERSUS THE NOTHING released their much anticipated Black Gloves EP on July 19, 2011 which saw them working with industry heavy weight Mike Fraser, known for his work with AC/DC and Metallica.

“We wanted to release The Black Gloves EP as a tease to our upcoming sophomore album. We have been living the ups and downs of being a touring rock n roll band. We eat, drink and almost die doing what we love. Our upcoming release is laced with those life experiences on the road”.

Non-stop touring and a tireless work ethic have transformed Vancouver’s VERSUS THE NOTHING into one of the new rock acts to emerge out of Canada. Their goal is a modest one, one that reflects the true essence and sincerity of their music; to get on the road, tour non-stop, and be heard by as many people as possible.

About: Glen Drover is best known as the former lead guitarist in Megadeth and backup to Andy Larocque in King Diamond, as well as his own band Eidolon, along with his brother Shawn Drover.

Glen Drover began playing guitar as a child, and was joined at age 10 by his brother Shawn on drums. Influenced by Tony MacAlpine, Al Di Meola, Randy Rhoads, Greg Howe, Michael Romeo, George Lynch, Warren DeMartini and David Gilmour, the Drover brothers formed the thrash/power metal band Eidolon in 1996, releasing seven albums to date. Glen is currently touring with Testament in place of Alex Skolnick and teaching guitar lessons at Long and McQuade.

In 1998, Drover joined King Diamond, and appeared on the House of God album.

In October 2004, Drover joined thrash metal band Megadeth, bringing along his brother Shawn. Following an extensive world tour, Drover contributed to Megadeth’s 2007 release, United Abominations as the lead guitarist and with co-writing credits for one song. While busy recording that album, Drover also cut a guest guitar solo for the track “Emotional Coma” (featured on the album Emotional Coma) by Swedish metal group Lion’s Share. Drover recorded his solo at home in Canada, and sent the music file to the band.

In January 2008 Glen Drover left Megadeth to focus on family life; the constant touring was starting to have a negative effect on him. His last show with Megadeth was on November 18, 2007 in Brisbane, Australia. Commenting on leaving the band, Drover said “I am aware of the rumors that I left Megadeth to focus on family life and my family life has always been my priority. In the end, I was unhappy with the situation, which magnified me wanting to spend more time with my family and realizing that it’s time for me to move on to the next chapter in my musical career, I have a lot of great memories and met a ton of great people along the way, both fans and people in the industry.”

On the 22 Oct 2008 Testament announced that they had recruited guitarist Glen Drover to fill in on their Mexican tour dates with Judas Priest, Due to Alex Skolnick’s prior commitment to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Also in March 2010, during the time of him trying to finally finish his album, Glen Drover was playing with Testament on the Megadeth, Testament, Exodus tour In the US and Canada, due to Alex Skolnick being away again.
