Canada’s favourite purveyors of folk/prog metal, Scythia are proud to unleash their new EP ‘For The Bear’, officially out today, Tuesday, September 25, 2012and now available to order on bandcamp here. The adventurous seven track EP features two new originals ‘Sailor’s Accolade’ and the title track ‘For The Bear’along with three remixes of ‘Fierce Riders of Scythia‘, ‘Black Death’ and ‘Dies Irae Pt. 1’ from the band’s 2010 debut ‘…Of War’ plus two Scythian adapted songs, one of Quebecois folk song ‘Mattawa Reel’ by Robert Forest and another called ‘Video Game Medley’, which features excerpts from Wizards and Warriors 1, Castlevania, Skyrim, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy VI and Tetris.

“For The Bear marks Scythia’s third release in three years. We now have a product that we can hang our hats on that represents our sound. This release deviates from the past two albums because it doesn’t have a central concept. In turn this gives us the freedom to write without constraints, we hope that this pleases our existing fans and garners new ones.” comments vocalist / guitarist Dave Kahn.

VESPERIA Comment On Fan Support For ROCK THE NATION Award Voting

Ontario epic metallers, VESPERIA are currently taking place in this year’s rendition of the annual ROCK THE NATION AWARD VOTING where bands from around the world compete for votes to earn a spot on the Rock The Nation roster, a spot on an international record label and the opportunity to hit stages on festivals and tours throughout North America and Europe.

‘We in VESPERIA are very excited to be taking part in this year’s Rock The Nation Award Voting! We’ve been promoting this very enthusiastically as it could open some very desirable avenues for us. We like to thank all our fans for their support and call to arms for you to spread the word to vote for Vesperia.‘ comments bassist Morgan Rider.

Music Video – Pints Held High from 2011’s Voyage From Vinland – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlaCcVvVfVY

vesperia (formerly bolero) 'pints held high' official music video

About: After several months of deep thinking and more than half a decade of live shows, line-up changes and the constant shake-ups in the music industry, the four musicians behind Bolero decided it was time for a big move – a change in name and mentality. Ladies, gentlemen and metal Vikings, we present to you,VESPERIA formerly known as Bolero.

Continuing to derive influences from thrash, black metal and traditional folk music, Vesperia are not leaving their epic orchestrations, throat-crushing speed nor ear-piercing guitar riffs behind, rather, they’re intensifying each element, adding more energy to their live shows just when fans thought they couldn’t get any more amped up and prepping to release their new demo as Vesperia, entitled ‘The Swordsman’.

Converting listeners and critics across the globe into believers and preachers of symphonic Celtic death metal since 2007, it’s clear VESPERIA has no plans of slowing down.
