Australia’s grunge rocking Arcane Saints have confirmed their first of many shows to be performed at this year’s INDIE WEEK Canada (October 16-20) in Toronto, ON.
The band’s first show at the fest has been scheduled at Underground Garage (365 King Street West) on Friday, October 18th. The band will be showcasing between 11:00pm – 11:30pm.
Show details can be found at the following link with updates to come: https://www.facebook.com/events/379371935498522/
Vocalist / guitarist Michael John comments:
“Our Canada tour last year was a massive highlight for Arcane Saints. Travelling all the way from Australia was a huge gamble for an indie band like us, but we were really impressed by how passionate and supportive of live music the audiences were. We’re delighted to be invited to play Indie Week Canada this year and are looking forward to rocking the great city of Toronto again!”
Arcane Saints released their debut album ‘Turning The Tide‘ earlier this summer on July 26th via Firestarter Distribution. The album is a rich blend of grunge, blues and metal combined with a pop rock sensibility and produced by multi-Grammy Award winning producer Toby Wright (Metallica, Kiss, Korn, Alice In Chains) whom after hearing their earlier singles on US radio, invited the Arcane Saints to his hometown of Nashville, TN to record their debut. Toby was a close friend of the late Layne Stayley, singer of Alice In Chains and delighted Arcane Saints by allowing them to use a microphone once owned by the late grunge legend during the recording. In addition to recording, a chance late night meeting in a Nashville bar also lead to Peter Keys (pianist from the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd) making a guest appearance on the album.
Upon its release the album spent 10 days at number one on the sales charts at Waterfront Records, one of Australia’s largest online music retailers. Shortly afterwards, the band became the first Australian band to grace the cover of USA’s Music Insider Magazine.
The first single from the album ‘Your Ocean’ is now streaming at the following links along with a FREE DOWNLOAD.

About:
As a relative of Iron Maiden founding member Steve Harris, music was always in singer/guitarist Michael John’s blood. Although born in the UK, he grew up in New Zealand. After winning The Pacific International Song Writing Competition, Michael spent the prize money on a one way ticket to Melbourne, Australia. Shortly afterwards, he formed Arcane Saints.
Following a few early line up changes, Michael “Sheep” Gooding joined the band as lead guitarist after impressing them with his guitar skills and rock n’ roll hair. Originally from a small town in the outback of Australia, Sheep conquered his boredom in the desert town by honing his guitar skills. Several different drummers came and went before the band finally found their ideal, hard hitting drummer in Sam Sablinskis. With a professional percussionist as a father, Sam was always going to be an accomplished musician.
After a serious injury forced their long term bassist to leave the band, Steve Malone took over bass duties. He had met the others when his previous band was on the same bill at a festival in China. With his simplistic, solid bass playing he was a perfect fit for Arcane Saints.
In a rock scene that is contrived, fake and lacking in “danger,” perhaps the tide is finally turning.

Over the past nine years, Vancouver, BC’s TRIBUNE has been progressively combining its myriad of influences into a genre-shattering whole and etching away at a sound all its own. Now, the band’s efforts have culminated in their third full-length record, Tales set for release October 29th via their indie label Corpse Corrosion Music, which is available for pre-order at the following link.
Album Pre-Order: http://tribune.bandcamp.com/
The nine-track concept album has been inspired by the writings of some of the world’s most renowned authors, including H.P. Lovecraft, H.G. Wells, Homer among many others, but the result is strictly TRIBUNE.
Exploring a more melodic and progressive sound than ever before, but still staying true to the group’s extreme aggression roots, Tales, the follow-up to 2011’s Elder Lore/The Dark Arts, demonstrates TRIBUNE’s brawn and brains with a collusion of extremity and accessibility.
As the band’s appetite for more extreme metal increased, bands like Carcass, Death and At The Gates began bleeding into their melting pot of influences, resulting in a fresh take on their fine metal sound, which can be heard echoing in the depths ofTRIBUNE’s Tales.
Tribune is now streaming the first single from the album ‘From Funeral To Funeral’at the following links:

“After hearing it today, I have come to the conclusion that Unbeing is in my opinion the most promising underground progressive metal band to be coming out of Quebec, and until a band proves me wrong, I would extend that to the rest of Canada also. Simply put, the album is awesome and well worth the investment…Each song sounds as fresh as the last and the next to come. The musicianship of each of the band members is worth the mention whether it be Sherif Maghraby on guitar, Jean Phillipe Bedard on drums or any of the other members for that matter. The production of the album is also nearly flawless, they are giving us a really polished release, worthy of some of the best metal albums out there.” Metal Made In Canada
“In fact, it was greatly refreshing to hear such musicality for a metal act. Everyone on stage was in full swing mode, showing off amazing chops but also the fact that these guys knew their song inside and out. Putting the bass player in the fore front was a great way to keep this veritable showman right there where we could see him play his red bass, and most importantly, have FUN while playing! Too many metal acts are too focused on the darker side of the “style”, when what the audience needs while watching a show is energy emanating from the band rocking out, metal or no metal.” – Between The Horns (Live Review)
“Every instrument gets its moment to shine. The drumming is incredibly diversified and varies from fast beats to passages dominated by hi-hats or smooth interludes. The riffs of the guitars are heavy but not yet thrash influenced and have also some melodic parts. The bass guitar player proves his talent in short parts of the record but doesn’t dominate too much on this record, a little bit like John Myung does on the records of Dream Theater. The keyboards create a lot of dreamy, weird and slightly despaired atmosphere. This is a great soundtrack for grey autumn or winter nights.” – Encyclopedia Metallum
“Cet album est définitivement un must pour tous les amateurs de prog. Unbeing n’est pas tombé dans le piège d’avoir un son recyclé ou trop ressemblant à un autre groupe. C’est une agréable surprise d’avoir un groupe local aussi différent et particulier. Ils en sont à leur premier album, mais je leur souhaite d’avoir la chance de faire connaître leur musique et d’aller beaucoup plus loin que cet opus hautement satisfaisant.” – Thorium
Bio:
It’s March of ‘06. The world is asleep. Everything is still. No one is aware that a massive shift in the planet’s tectonic plates has given birth to a juggernaut. Fate has set three individuals on a collision course, their union shaking the very foundations of reality and sound.
Rising out of Montreal’s bubbling metal underground, it can be said that Unbeing have been through it all. Starting out as a three-piece, members came and went, two demos were released to an overwhelmingly positive response, the band won Metal Académie 2 – a two-month-long competition where the band impressed both the audience and esteemed metal judges such as Kataklysm to take home top honors – then decided to shake things up again. Taking the judges’ advice to heart, Unbeing opted to no longer continue sacrificing their creative liberties, removing vocals all-together to finally discovered its true nature in the form of a five-piece ProgEpic InstruMetal band.
But alas, five years after the birthing cries of Unbeing tore holes in the fabric of space and time, individually and as a whole, they have overcome hardships, laughed in the face of danger and stomped on the charred corpse of impossibility. In 2011, the band released its debut full-length album before solidifying its name in the metal community as a five-piece outfit.
Their album spanning 40 minutes of instrumental offerings that screams: There is no turning back, there is no mercy, there is only Unbeing is now set for re-release this September 2013 on vinyl, re-mixed and re-mastered , ready to be received again as a testimony to the group’s composing capabilities.

Rocker Matt Blais To Perform At Indie Week; Additional Canadian Dates For ‘The Heartbeat Tour’; New Music Video ‘Goodbye Sunshine’

Calgary, AB alternative blues/ rock musician Matt Blais is proud to announce additional Canadian tour dates along with a performance at this year’s Indie Week (Oct 16-20) in Toronto, ON in support of his newly released album ‘The Heartbeat’.
Gaining strong comparisons to artists such as Sam Roberts, Matt Mays and Joel Plaskett, Matt Blais’ latest release ‘The Heartbeat’ combines elements of fiery rock and roll with smooth vintage soul to form a sound so uniquely his own that one can’t help but become emotionally charged. The combination of a high energy live show and a passion for song writing is Blais’ formula for success, which thus far has been very well received by critics and the audiences that continue to grow in number.
Matt Blais comments:
“I’ve missed being on the road. I like to think of myself as a musical troubadour, or some kind of old school minstrel. The road is my home, especially the Canadian road. I don’t think there is a better time to tour Canada than in the fall so I’m excited to take my music to any city that will have me!”

A darker and more mature effort, Psychonaut brings forth Fatality’s trademark energy and commitment to drunken mayhem. Tracks like ‘Thoughts Collide’ and ‘Before The Collapse’ delve deep into the sodden minds of their creators, bubbling with the strange alchemy of pop culture. Psychonaut is an exploration of the inner landscape of the mind, where addled thoughts and horror-polluted dreams are held up to musical scrutiny. Monstrous, ambitious, and sardonically funny as ever, Fatality are taking their unique sound and boundless energy to the next level.

About: Toronto, Canada’s high-energy, modern thrash monsters Fatality have been cranking out wise-cracking, beer-drenched nightmares together since 2003. Known for their wild, riotous live performances and their peerless work ethic, they have been independently booking and promoting their own shows, creating great merch, touring North America, and making some great tunes along the way. Few bands embody the DIY spirit as fully as Fatality consistently do, and no other bands have as much fun working their asses off.
Fatality’s debut effort, Beers From The Grave, was an irreverent, horror-themed album that eschewed seriousness in favour of hard living and good times. Decibel Magazine quipped that, on Beers From The Grave, “solos fly with reckless abandon, the bass is audible and practically so are the beers being cracked open. These guys must have awesome parties.” Hellbound.ca stated that Fatality are “a bundle of crass, explosive, obnoxiously positive energy spewing beer and shrapnel.” Part homage to classic zombie apocalypse horror and part retro-thrash ruckus, Beers From The Grave was an exciting, riotously messy debut.
After supporting Beers From The Grave with East coast Canadian tours, and being invited to share the stage with the likes of Exodus, Municipal Waste, Holy Grail and Razor, the thrash rockers went back to the studio and emerged with still more new material. Three rough-and-tumble, irresistibly catchy singles — “T.F.E.S.”, “Uppercut” and “Hammerfist” — were bundled together as a free EP. While most bands would have simply released a free record and called it a day, Fatality supported their singles with North American tours, winning hearts, destroying livers and splitting eardrums along the way. After those adventures, Fatality went into a period of hiatus. They emerged from this creative cocoon and re-instated their original drummer, Mason LeVon (brother to guitarist and vocalist Spencer LeVon, who replaced longtime friend and skinsman Andrew Suarez), and new musical vision. In early 2012, the band began writing a brand-new full-length, ‘Psychonaut’, unquestionably their most ambitious project to date.
FATALITY is:

Spencer LeVon – Lead Vocals/Guitar
Adam Zlotnik – Bass Guitar
