Post rock metal band DISPARAGER whom unleashed their new lyric video ‘RIP Bill Hicks’ off their recently released debut EP ‘Timeless, Ageless’ produced by Jay Maas (Defeater, Bane, H2O, American Nightmare, Polar Bear Club) are proud to announce they will be performing another local date in Brooklyn, NY on July 27th at The Acheron following their opening slot for Sworn Enemy this weekend on July 12th at Blackthorn 51. (show details below)
Lyric Video – RIP Bill Hicks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVGAWd57KFs
Vocalist / guitarist Chris Ahkoa comments:
“R.I.P. Bill Hicks is about letting go of something that is wrong for you, even if the act of letting go, the decision to let go, and everything leading up to that decision is hard. Comfort and familiarity are nice, but allowing those feelings to steer your life treads dangerously close to living in fear. Our days are precious and few and we must decide what is worth our time.”
Show Dates:
July 12 @ Blackthorn 51 – Elmhurst, NY w/ Sworn Enemy, Thorn Constellation, Fate Breaks Dawn, Mala Entrana, Apparition, Halo To Havoc, Risers
July 27 @ The Acheron – Brooklyn, NY w/ Blackest, Warm, Dead Empires
Formed just last year, DISPARAGER has always had the crazy notion that music is art and that art is never a means to an end but an end in itself. As an extension of frontman Chris AhKao regaining his life from personal demons, this debut EP is a testament to that. Bursting with dense rawness and precision while pushing the boundaries of metal with tracks like “At Least I Still Have Bon Iver” – half folk song, half crushing mix of Isis and Slayer – and “Pictures” – a time signature mindfuck the band is proud NOT to call prog rock. The music is meant to showcase a refusal to settle, to compromise, to live any other life than that inspired by unwavering intent, self-expression and integrity.

Vancouver, BC six-piece powerhouse THE BODY POLITIC has teamed up with PureGrainAudio.com for the premiere and FREE download of their new single ‘Armature’ off their forthcoming EP ‘Egressor’ due out on September 16, 2014.
Free download at the following link: http://puregrainaudio.com/audio/the-body-politic-armature-free-song-download-exclusive-world-premiere
Drummer Spencer Bowman comments:
“Armature’s lyrics are written from the perspective of someone who is wrestling with who they are as a person, both physically and emotionally. It’s a notion that hits close to home with us. The song is a big departure from our earlier work, and we think it gives a good impression of what people can expect from Egressor.”
Taking their name from a Clive Barker short story and shifting gears from jazz (which most of the members studied at Vancouver Island University) to progressive metal, the band combine poly-metric grooves, aggressive screams and soaring vocal melodies to push the boundaries of modern metal music with technically impressive musicianship to follow up their 2011 debut album ‘All Too Human’ (also available for free download at the following link http://thebodypolitic.bandcamp.com/). Their emotionally charged songs incorporate an element of playfulness that has lead THE BODY POLITIC to stand out in a vast metal crowd and to perform opening slots for Tesseract, Protest The Hero and Scale The Summit plus multiple Western Canadian tours with their evolution.
In additional news, the band will be performing at this year’s Beaver Fest in Valley View, AB on August 29th alongside Protest The Hero, Silverstein, Comeback and many more. Taking their name from a Neil Young lyric – ‘All those rough boys, playin’ that rock and roll. The band’s third EP ‘Blood, Booze And Gasoline‘ offers bluesy stoner rock songs in a punk metal setting, thus putting them somewhere in a grey area of the heavy music world, but if it’s an alternative to most of today’s metal genres you’re looking for, you got it! This EP is packed with aggression and emotion sure to leave you in both shock and awe while forcing you to press ‘Play’ again and again. The band has shared the stage with Cauldron, Fuck The Facts, Axxion, Midnight Malice, Adrenechrome, Saigon Hookers to name a few.

Named after Siberia’s most northern city, NORILSK draws their inspirations and themes from Northern identity, isolation, and world demise. Incorporating elements of sludge and post-metal along with influences from doom-death metal bands such as Thergothon, Saturnus, and early My Dying Bride, the band is sharing with metal fans a taste of what’s to come in their debut EP ‘Japetus’.
Presented in a very limited CD edition and digital format, the ‘Japetus’ EP is both an introduction to the band and a teaser to future recordings. Clocking just under 20-minutes, the EP includes the title track ‘Japetus’, which will be on the band’s later planned full length album and also features one alternate version of ‘Potsdam Glo’ along with a cover of Voivod‘s song ‘Negatron’, which is exclusively available on the CD.
