Every second Thursday Alberta Music brings in a variety of experts from the music industry to hold consultations that provide advice, insight and guidance to artists and aspiring industry who are Alberta Music members, free of charge.
Throwback Thursday takes place twice per month from January 15 to April 23 2015, and consultations are either one-on-one meetings or in small groups requesting similar information. Consultations take place in Edmonton and Calgary, though you may schedule a phone consultation if you live elsewhere in Alberta.

Jon Asher, known for being a regular fixture on the Montreal music scene, founded ASHER MEDIA RELATIONS in September 2007 to aid Indie bands in celebrating their head banging tunes to the world. A musician himself, and a McGill graduate in public relations, Jon had his epiphany – to help out the struggling artists and help them gain the attention they need to support their music. His credentials include working with a number of artists such as Gene Hoglan, Psychostick, Titans Eve, Nephelium, Ninjaspy plus Alberta based bands Scythia, All Else Fails, Death Toll Rising, Throne of Vengeance, Arrival of Autumn, Display of Decay and Farmageddon Open Air Fest plus overseeing national PR for Wacken Metal Battle Canada among many others. He has also guest lectured at McGill University on Music Publicity for the public relations program plus has spoken on panels at Indie Week Music Fest (Toronto), Noctis Fest (Calgary) and Halifax Pop Explosion. Asher’s previous endeavours have included former operator of F.A.M.E (Freedom Artist Management & Entertainment), working at CJAD 800AM (Montreal) as an intern in the promotions department, media relations coordinator for the TNC Theatre.

Cara Ashbey is an Alberta-based aggressive music publicist. She has been performing, booking, and promoting concerts since she was 16. After attending the Arts and Cultural Management Program offered at Grant MacEwan University, she focused on building a career as an Arts Administrator in Edmonton. She has been working at Asher Media Relations since 2013 supporting the development and promotion of independent aggressive music. She plays drums in a grindcore band called Preschool Shooting and has been an active publicist specializing in various types of aggressive music (Metal, Punk, Rock,etc.). In addition to being a publicist she has worked at CJSR 88.5 FM, Pawn Shop Live, and Avenue Skatepark in various capacities.
