About: Kill Matilda just can’t sit still. But since they’re on an ass-kicking mission to find revenge, who can really blame them?
Touring and moving around their native country relentlessly, Kill Matilda has called B.C., Quebec and Ontario home over the years, making it exceptionally clear that they mean business. As the journey to kill Matilda continues, the title of the band’s first full-length album says it all: I Want Revenge.
Charged with the task of clearing the nation of a spreading zombie epidemic after a life or death encounter one fateful night, Kill Matilda is rising to the challenge of zombie management. Specially trained to combat these unruly creatures, Kill Matilda is armed with two incomparable, indestructible, advantageous tools: their bone-crushing music and front woman Dusty Exner’s famous cookies.
Showcasing the energy, power and adrenaline-soaked insanity Kill Matilda is famous for, I Want Revenge was recorded at Vancouver’s Nimbus Studios after the band’s self-titled DIY EP won over Garth Richardson and the students of Nimbus. Their knowledge of KM’s top-secret mission may or may not also have been a deciding factor.
The result? An album that was built on their preceding EP’s strengths and squashes its weaknesses. “Being able to have someone as committed and talented as Wes Kennedy to trust with bringing our sound to another level really shines through on this record,” comments bassist Mykel Exner. “We knew what sound we wanted to hear and Wes had no issues taking all the extra steps to bring it to life.”
For anyone who chooses to tempt fate and not pick up I Want Revenge, or anyone who opts to not support KM’s zombiecide mission, you’ve been warned – Kill Matilda may be coming for you next.
