Canada’s favorite purveyors of folk/prog metal, Scythia whom unleashed their new EP ‘For The Bear’ earlier this week on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 and kicked off their cross Canada on Wednesday in Vancouver, BC, will be performing this Saturday, Sept 29th at Noctis V Metal Fest in Calgary, AB alongside Venom, Agalloch, Grand Magus, Nun Slaughter, Black Witchery, Extrementory Grindfuckers and The Order of Chaos.
“Scythia is very excited to be performing at this year’s Noctis Metal Festival. The invitation to play reflects the hard work we’ve put in to please crowds in Western Canada. The band will definitely be bringing our A game that night!” comments vocalist / guitarist Dave Khan.

Scythia’s adventurous seven track EP ‘For The Bear’ features two new originals ‘Sailor’s Accolade’ and the title track along with three remixes of ‘Fierce Riders of Scythia‘, ‘Black Death’ and ‘Dies Irae Pt. 1’ from the band’s 2010 debut ‘…Of War’ plus two Scythian adapted songs, one of Quebecois folk tune ‘Mattawa Reel’ by Robert Forest and another called ‘Video Game Medley’, which features excerpts from Wizards and Warriors 1, Castlevania, Skyrim, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy VI and Tetris.

BIO:
Founded in 2006 by drummer Joe Mullen and vocalist Tom Emmans, ODIUM was born in order to create a focused project centered on the themes of growth and attrition. After being joined by bassist Dale Burrows and guitarists Bo Louther and Andrew Fullerton, it was clear the band was quickly becoming a cohesive group of musicians that had found their strengths in each other’s abilities to contribute to the writing process.
Most convincing is ODIUM’s arsenal of musical weapons that contribute to their overall sound, which was properly harnessed by Canadian producer Greg Dawson (The End, Moneen, Choke) on both of ODIUM‘s metal opus’ underlining the quintet’s penchant for writing metal songs that are as heartfelt as they are heavy with ODIUM’s emotional hybrid of epic crescendos and fiery heaviness.
Over the years, ODIUM has opened for such well known bands as Alexisonfire, The Agonist, Beneath the Massacre, Divinity, Moneen, Fuck the Facts, Fairwell to Freeway and Arise and Ruin.
